  1. You're the explorer... come back and tell us!!:D

Definitely will :) hope to have good news! As of January there was quite a bit of work going on. Some workers told us that it's been purchased and will be run separate to the hotel. They were putting in a DJ booth and completely upgrading the pool and bar.

  2. Has anyone seen any activity at the former Crew Bar at the White Sands resort? We're back in GT in two weeks and have our fingers crossed that it may be re-opened finally, very eager to see what they do with it!

  3. But I'll quit posting on this now as I have said my piece and it obviously doesn't matter anyway.

    ...

BTW about the fire thing, nice try. Not true, but a good attempt nonetheless.

Yet you continued to post twice more about this, please stop beating this dead horse, it's in dreadful pain. I tell you what: if you agree to disagree, I'll give your cabin mate my next invitation lol

Also, the fire example was a joke, but I agree with the poster that there'd be some truth to it, given how some on here act (God help them). Let's leave the legalities to the lawyers and just let others do as they do.

These are some mighty large first world problems, and this is where I sign off CC for the night. Where's the rum?

  4. Sounds awesome... would love to know more (although I can't figure out how to send a private message on this forum!)

Oops, thought that was a feature!

Anyways: about 70 of us (some on the main roll call for Cruise Critic) are staying at the Skyline Hotel in Hell's Kitchen. An agent arranged a discount code for us. You can book online, just use the code "161114funf" I believe rates started at $169/night. Nice hotel and walking distance from the port :)

  5. We haven't decided where to stay yet (still possibly staying with friends)... but also love the idea of walking to the cruise port. Its also our first time ever to NYC!

If you need a hotel, many of us are at the Skyline and there still may be discounted group rooms available. I don't remember the exact details, but it was well under $200/night. Send me a private message if you'd like more about that, happy to share!

  6. Boyfriend and I are really looking forward to this... it'll be our 2nd cruise together (my 7th overall) and our first repo cruise. Also the longest cruise we've ever been on. Looking forward to meeting everyone at FOD!

We're in room 6278... but also staying in NYC for two nights and one night in Miami at the end. Hoping for a seriously epic vacation!

Welcome! First repo and longest cruise for me as well. What part of NYC are you staying before you sail? A bunch in our group are in Hell's Kitchen. Looking forward to simply walking to the port for embarkation! Plus HK is always a fun neighbourhood :)

  7. Welcome to both of you! Looks like Dorothy's preferred accommodations is the Havana section. Small world :)

MayneCoon, which side of the ship is your suite on? We're two doors down from the suites on starboard. Good friends of ours are in one of the starboard suites. And some cruise friends of ours (also fun people) are in one of the port side ones.

Hope you meet you both on board!

  8. We were on the June 11th sailing and it was only Diamond and Platinum that skipped the check in on deck 5.

That was my understanding too, just Diamond/Platinum. This makes good sense to have check-in at one area and then seating at another. A number of times we've shown up with our buzzer and had a hard time getting past the crowd of people waiting to just get a buzzer. Makes the entrance very busy! Now the entrance should just be those who've been buzzed and can be seated immediately, better flow.

  9. Thanks J. I think it might have been the White Sands Resort. Small condo place. I'll have to check it out next time. Have to go to the Caicos for work soon, maybe I can get over to GT one afternoon.

The name sounds familiar, I think you're right about that!

  10. Was this place located at a hotel or resort?

It is adjacent to one of the small hotels (can't recall the name), but the info I got in January is that the new owners are going to be running it completely separate from the hotel. Got word from Franny that as of last week, it was still not yet re-opened. I'll keep being patient until November!

  11. I've been there, and I agree it isn't fun. On Allure we had a man overboard who was not able to be recovered. What actually woke us up was the ship stopping very abruptly just as we were a few miles out from Cozumel. They required everyone to go to their muster stations to have a head-count conducted. Had a scare again on Glory upon docking in Nassau. Everyone was put on cabin lockdown due to missing passengers (suspected overboard) but they were located in maybe 15-20minutes. It was a 2-night cruise, so not unusual for things to happen on those.

Either way, it's a pretty chilling event and not fun to be a part of.

  12. We all absolutely loved Natalie on the Liberty this past November. Trust me, we would be elated to hear that she was on one of our sailings again. She has a number of videos on YouTube, definitely check her out. Hope you have fun with her!

We're sailing Vista in November and are looking forward to meeting Ben!

  13. Canadian J....its Franny here. I'm in Grand Turks in 2 weeks. I will check it out for you since I'm so done with Jacks and Margaritaville. We are planning on one of the local bars along the beach to stop for some beeyahs. I hope its open for us.

Hey Franny! Welcome back :) hope you had another fabulous sailing! Did you get a chance to check this area out in Turks? Eager to hear!

  14. Yes, there are 2 days in-between cruises. we get to stay on the ship during those 2 days and use it as a hotel (they'll feed us as well). :D I just wasn't sure how it was going to work getting off from the 1st cruise, getting new S&S cards, being able to come and go from the ship for those 2 days (some kind of a shore pass maybe?), and now Staggered Check In. I've only done a B2B where they 2 cruises end and start on the same day and I've never been to a port with Staggered Check In.

They're letting you stay on for the two days?! Now that's pretty cool  I hope you have an amazing time!

  15. We're doing a B2B (the Transatlantic on October 21st followed by the November 5th cruise). :D Will we still have to choose a check in time for the Nov 5th cruise? I assume so since we do have to fill out our online check in but I just wanted to see what my fellow CCers thought. If we do have to select a time, should we choose the earliest time available or the latest time available (to free up an early time for a new passenger coming aboard who really wants/needs it)?

I very well may be wrong, but isn't there a two day gap (Nov 3-5) between those two cruises?
