  1. Thank you so much for everyone's replies and for the links! I really appreciate them. At this point, we're at a loss on what to do. Based on the research I've done, I feel he should be okay to cruise. Like some of you cruisers have mentioned, I have never been asked to show my passport or ID at any of the ports I've been to in the past. I only had to show my S&S card when boarding the ship in Nassau. I don't even carry my passport off the ship. I know I probably should but I don't plan on missing the ship and feel much better if my passport is locked in the room safe.

For those who suggested that I contact the ports (Grand Turk, La Romana Domincan Republic, Curacao, and Aruba), I already did that about a month of ago with no luck. I emailed all the ports inquiring about the necessary documents and only got a reply back for Curacao, which was useless (they just directed me back to their website for "answers"). Maybe I'll try calling this time instead. I emailed because I wanted it written in paper as proof.

I guess I created this thread in hope of hearing from other cruisers who have recently done this to give us reassurance that he will be okay to cruise. I did a lot of research and feel that he will be okay but I really don't know. Thank you all again.

Did your friend fly to the Bahamas or was he on a cruise?

Did not go... To much hassle, but it was going to be a cruise. Each countries embassy page has info on what visitors need to enter the country.

  2. I am thinking/planning the Altun Ha & river tour the Carnival has... Don't want to miss the boat. The tour does a bus thru the country, then a boat up the river, then the ruins then lunch and back again. And it is only 5.5 hours not 7+.

  3. You pay only the tax on the drinks that you purchase in port (or US waters). You do not pay tax on the Cheers program.

If you have the Cheers program and you are still in port, a $9.00 drink will cost you approx. $0.50 or $0.75. The base drink price and 15% gratuity are covered.

However, if you buy the Cheers program while IN PORT you WILL pay the SALES TAX on it. If you wait until out of the USA waters then you won't.

  4. 2. There was a 26 year old partied in our group that went a little nuts and spent $1,700 in alcohol for the week. He said afterwards he did not know about Cheers program.

Does he remember any part of the cruise or is the week just a blur

  5. Ok the wife and I want to Zip Line and also do some beach stuff in Roatan. The problem is we have not been to Roatan before and don't know which is the better way to go. We need your input and comments in detail.

Little French Key has a package of Ziplining at the "Pirates of the Caribbean Extreme course" and then the LFK island with 2 drinks and lunch each for the price of $296 for the 2 of us, without a depost.

"Pirates of the Caribbean Extreme course" has a package that includes the Ziplining and what they are calling a "Beach Break "Resort"" for the price of $130 for teh 2 of us without Lunch or Drinks. With a 25% Deposit.

    QUESTIONS:

Is the Little French Key worth the extra $166?

Is the "Beach Resort" for Pirates really a resort? Can you buy Drinks (4-5) and lunch at the "Resort" for 2 folks for less than $166? Is the "Resort" within walking distance of other eating and drinking places?

Thanks in advance for your input.....

You do a lot of cruising and have spent sometime in Roatan... so let me ask you. Have you been to the beach that Pirates of the Caribbean uses for the Zip and Dip? Is it worth the extra money to go to LFK? i can save about $166 if I go with Pirates over LFK for the 2 of us and get the Zip line and beach. your thoughts... thanks.

  8. Okay wow finally read the whole thread all 43 pages and seen it go from TIPs to complaints to questions to whatever. It has been very interesting but the questions started to repeat themselves about page 34. We have never cruised the DREAM our normal go to cruises (5 times) are on the Fascination. We finally book Dream for October 26th 2013. We have a Balcony in the AFT Portside #8442 that our PVP got for us (any comments about the room would be good). Hopefully this is a good room.

We are doing the Western Caribbean route. My thinking at Cozumel it is best to shop some and eat and drink, your thoughts?. In Belize take the ZIPLINE tour over the rain forest for about 3.5 hours. In Roatan...Go to the Little French Key. And in Costa Maya I am thinking at this stop is to take a taxi to Mahahual to shop some and eat and drink and beach time as the last port.

Questions are that have not been answered someplace here..

    1-Where is the Burrito Bar

2-Is the ships Captain that was there in 2011 still the Dream’s Captain?

3-I do not want the SPA stuff but do like to work out while on ship, Is it free and how do you get to it?

Thanks for this thread and the info.
