  1. Agree, RCL must have caught their "mistake" in not adding 18% gratuities. 1 hour after locking in the 20% off gratuity included, I see they're now adding 18% to purchases.

That being said, I think RCL has to honor the price we paid before they caught their mistake. We've got email confirmation that the package was purchased and paid in full with a $0 balance due.

  2. Thanks so much, I was able to grab the 20% off discount! I've been on the fence about whether or not to purchase a package since I'm not much of a drinker, but this tipped my hand. I would never have thought to look for beverage package sales if I hadn't seen it posted here. Gotta love CC!

Anthem 4/8/16 is currently running 20% off alcoholic beverage packages (not replenish nor refreshment.) Current prices are:

    Select - $31/day

    Premium - $39/day

    Ultimate - $47/day

For a 10 day cruise, I paid $472 for the Ultimate package just now, so I'm guessing the $47 included tip.

  3. Forgive the dumb question, I am not tech savvy...

We're sailing on Anthem over April break.

Would the Royal IQ app texting function work on an old iPhone 4 (not currently connected to a phone plan)? I'm wondering if I should have my kids use old inactive phones we have gathering dust, to keep in touch onboard, rather than allow the 13-year-old to carry around and risk losing her regular iPhone or inadvertently turn off airplane mode, etc.

I realize there's a $14.95/device charge to use texting through the IQ app.

TIA for not mocking my question.

  4. Only ice water is "complimentary"...no bottled water of any kind is included in your fare.

Yes, thank you. My question must not be worded well.

I meant to ask which sparkling waters are available in the dining rooms, to help me determine whether or not it's worth buying a beverage package that would include sparkling water. I realize only ice water is complimentary.

    Thanks again.

  5. Get a WOW band, and you'll never have to take your sea pass card to the pool deck. :) (Seriously, we really liked having the bands. I realize they are charging for them now, but I'd buy one. Worth it for the convenience. Also much easier to open your cabin door, especially when you are carrying something.)

Do you know whether the wow bands can be programmed to open 2 different cabins? We're sailing in 2, connected cabins.

  6. We were on Anthem this fall and I had the Royal Replenish Pkg. I'm not a soda drinker, but I love sparkling water/seltzer, and yes, these machines had sparkling Dasani. When the machines were working or hadn't run out of stuff, that is. And on our cruise, that was far too often. I hope they are being better serviced now.

PS: I'd bought the beverage pkg before sailing but my sea pass card lacked the symbol for it. So I had the sticker. No biggie. :) Anthem is stunning; have a great cruise!

    Thanks Turtles!

I haven't sailed on Anthem yet, but on the Explorer my sea pass came imprinted with a Coke symbol. Much better than a sticker that falls off when you take it into a hottub:)

  7. I have a question! A favor, really. Would you be able to take a photograph of the main screen on the Coke machine that shows which beverages are loaded on Anthem Coke machines?

I finally kicked my diet soda habit. Instead, I drink sparkling water which is available as sparkling Dasani on some Coke machines I've seen in local restaurants. If the anthem Coke machine carries sparkling Dasani, I plan to pre-purchase a package. I prefer to buy beverage packages before I sell so the symbol is imprinted upon the sea pass instead of just a sticker slapped on top.

    Thanks!

  8. During spring break, it's HIGHLY unlikely that Adventure Ocean will bend their age group rules. There's just too many children on board to start making exceptions.

Assure your son that he'll have plenty of cousin time outside of Adventure Ocean. You mentioned that the whole point of this cruise was for family to be together, so it doesn't sound like you planned keep the kids in Adventure Ocean all day, every day. They'll swim, rock climb, boogie board, skate and eat meals together. You'll likely spend port days together. No need to be devastated!

  9. Once again you people have really come through with the info I need. Baron, yes I'm a glutton for punishment. We didn't take that Stewart flight as it was further than we wanted to go to pick up our car after the cruise. We caught up with the ship in Jamaica on day 4 and had a great back to back cruise, then our flight to Islip after a day in Florida was cancelled by last weeks snow storm (4 flights cancelled in a 2 week period). We were able to switch to a flight to Laguardia and a limo home on Monday.

We prefer traditional dining with the same tablemates and waiters so we're doing dynamic classic. We're doing this cruise for the ship. not the ports, so we'll have no problem making 5:30 dinner.

    Regards to all, Rich

I was following your thread and wondered what happened. Thanks for coming back and posting follow-up! Glad you had great b2b cruises, sorry about the travel hassles.

  10. I have sailed Presidents week out of Bayonne. We can drive to Bayonne and avoid air travel, which makes Cape Liberty our embarkation port of choice.

It is cold the first and last 2 sea days, but the Caribbean is warm. If your port stops are FL & Bahamas though, I wouldn't expect it to get above low 70's.

Not related to weather, but as a FYI, expect a large number of families with children on board during President's week.

  11. my suggestion is book a specialty or solarium on the night you don't like to go back. If you are disappointed with silk the first night, book a speciality or solarium as soon as you can. This way if you like other it still on your rotation.ay the table with your same waiter. Also the other tips is you can order a dish from the restaurant across the hall because both restaurant is connected to one huge kitchen. This way you can get american icon dish inside the silk restaurant.

    Thank you for the suggestions!

  12. Not really. You can try, but that's not how the Choice and Classic options work. You can certainly skip Silk the second time around, but you should go instead to a pay restaurant or the Windjammer or (my choice would be) the Solarium Bistro. You need a reservation at SB, but there is no charge.

    Thank you for the explanation.

  13. You can opt out for any reason.

Taking it one step further, can a classic guest show up to a different restaurant from where they 'should' be at any time and be seated without a reservation? I.E. If we are disappointed in Silk the first time we dine there, can we skip it the second time we're assigned and show up at the Grande instead?
