Will do, young man.  I'll hit 72 at the end of this month...our profile photo is from 2001.

I vaguely remember 2001 🤯 Getting to that point to I have to pull up old photo albums to see what I was doing. 😂 My BIG cruise is next April and the Panama Canal. Definitely a Bucket List item since I was a kid.

We're booked on the inaugural cruise out of Tampa, bussing down with a group of fellow "Villagers".  Excited and a little apprehensive about being first cruise guinea pigs, I'm sure there'll be some kinks & flaws - just hoping nothing serious or not easily remedied.  I'm not a fan of cruises less than 7 days, so it took some persuading to get me on-board this mini-adventure.  See everybody on-board around 5:00! 🕔 🍹

I hope you will come back and give us a review! I'll be 65 years old soon and very eager to try this new ship of theirs. Looking forward to any comments you can provide upon your return!

    HAVE A GREAT CRUISE!!!

  3. Don't know if this has been mentioned already or not - word on the street is that NCL is transitioning away from their current water packaging to these metal containers. The description has also changed to indicate as much...

Thank you. The thread started in 2023, and the most recent post bumped it up after the last time I checked. From other posts, I think that more has been completed at Fuerte Amador but it's all still rather up in the air and likely to change by the time I'm there. This sort of thing is annoying and it feels like NCL is being coy about it.

Panama City, Panama doesn't actually have a cruise terminal in town, the only one that they do have is where everybody docks and that's in Fuerte Amador. There was some comment I believe in the other thread saying that you could not disembark early though a ship is staying overnight? Even though NCL may not offer tours, look at Viator, they'll have plenty of options. I've done some research with them and their tours and pricing seems fair.

  5. Norwegian Jade has a full schedule from now through the end of her 2025 Alaska season, so I'm not seeing any opportunity for NCL to give her any type of dry-dock (or wet-dock) upkeep since the last one in 2017.

  6. This site comes as a recommendation from the US National Weather Service Juneau Alaska: "You can either click on the location you want or enter the name of the town that you would like the forecast for."

  8. I quite literally have been watching the Juneau web cam every single day since mid-April when the first ship arrive arrived.

April was absolutely stunning. May most definitely has had days where the rain was absolutely torrential, and more often than not it has been raining. But it also has some really beautiful days.

I realize it's highly subjective, but is the salmon served there better than/different from else where in Alaska? It's quite a premium over just the seaplane tour. Obviously, the additional cost includes other things such as time at the Lodge and other foods.

Not really, I don't think, no more so than if you were having it at one of the panning for gold excursions in Juneau or Skagway. But it's the setting that makes all the difference. If it's that much of a premium over the cost of the seaplane tour then just stick with the one you have.

OK you guys convinced me.  Even though our cruise is not until Sept 2025 I went ahead and booked all our excursions.  All except Juneau are through the ship.  How did I do:

    Tracy Arm Fjord Glacier Explorer

Skagway: Train, Saloon, & City Tour

Juneau: Taku Glacier Lodge & Seaplane Glacier Excursion

Icy Point Strait: Whale & Bear Search

Sitka: Sea Otters, Raptors, & Bears

    Ketchikan: Bearing Crab Fishetman's Tour

    Victoria BC: Butcharts Gardens

A lot of nice choices!!! I've only ever heard really remarkable things about the Tracy Arm Fjord Glacier Explorer. Watched a really nice video on it the other day...

I've done the Taku Glacier Lodge and it's also really nice! Does that include the salmon bake lunch? Very exciting!

I don't understand how Gibraltar is on the way from Belfast to Florida.  Did they want more sea trials before setting out across the ocean?

Only what I gathererd from their FB page and Marine Traffic, in addition to refueling prior to the transatlantic passage she may have also picked up more crew and supplies. I did notice a ferry running between her and shore while she was at the eastern anchorage. And you're probably correct that they may have wanted to run the engines a bit before crossing the Atlantic. Here's a closer look at her position while at the anchorages, and where she was located a few days ago...
