  1. We stay in Aruba for several weeks each year. Are you staying at Renaissance? We've stayed there several times, and I can give you lots of suggestions for good restaurants that are 5 - 20 minutes walk. Let me know where you will be and we can go from there. Search through some of the threads on here and you can find some great ideas. For a tour, I highly recommend a private tour with Bully. Since you are going fairly soon, he's probably already booked. His email is bullytaxi79@hotmail.com. If he's booked, you can do a jeep tour with ABC or Depalm. Also, if you are staying downtown, you could book a sail/snorkel tour on Tranquilo, which docks downtown, or a sunset tour on Black Pearl, which docks in Palm Beach. They are both wonderful.

Yes, we are staying at the Renaissance!! I have looked into a private tour with Ivan forget his last name. He did a tour for my parents a couple years ago and they loved him. I hear there are a lot of restaurants and shopping. How is night life in Aruba? Since we always cruise we are on the ship for night life lol.

  2. Ok I cruise a bit and my friend and I are tying something different this year. We are going to Aruba for a week land vacation. We have never been there so I was hoping that fellow cruisers could suggest from previous experiences must see to do things. We are actually staying at a resort that is right near the port. Any info would be appreciated would it be tour, restaurant, beach shopping! Thank you so much in advance! We will be going Oct 15 to Oct 22nd. Trying to set up a private tour as well.

  3. That cabin will get the thump thump of the base every show time

On port days that have tender-- the people leave from the show lounge.

on other port days this is where people meet for the ship sponser excursions. they use a mircophone so you should not hear anything on those days.

    Dancers practice too.

Thanks, It was either this cabin or cabin 9289 which is on the lido but like right in the Atrium. Figured more noise would be there.

  4. Does anyone have information on Cabin 2245 on the Splendor? I looked on the map and it looks like its under the theater. I am assuming though after any shows are over it should be quiet? I would probably not go to sleep till after midnight? Not sure how it would be in the AM?

    Thanks in advance!!

  5. Hi,

So I booked this cruise for the concert only lol I love Tim and for whatever reason he is not coming around to my area this year like he has been every year. Only the casino which tickets are CRAZY expensive.

Questions because I am confused. When I booked I was told this was going to be on the beach in Nassau since he is there the day before as well. Is this true? Has there ever been a Carnival concert on the beach? If inside where is it held? I want the best possible seat possible. Is it in the theater? Or in the comedy lounge?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!! Oh can you take pictures?

  6. Appreciate your feedback!

Argh! I don't know what to do... we've never gotten it, but DH brought it up over the weekend. I think he could definitely get his money's worth, but not sure I could, though maybe with coffees and bottled drinks plus the booze?!

It would be pretty costly for our 8-day trip, but I can see where the freedom would be nice! I'd just have to cut WAAAAY back on my photo purchases :p

Anybody notice a difference in crew service with Cheers vs. not having it?

To answer your question about crew service, I had a fantastic experience with Cheers on the Breeze in Nov last year. I would go to many of the bars and never did I feel that the service was lacking, In fact I made friends with the bartenders in the lobby/atrium and they would encourage me to get to my 15 a day lol. I pretty much drank wine. 6oz a glass so spread out I was good for the day. I remember at night before heading to my cabin that the bartender would actually give me a "double" (12oz) to take back to the room with me. I will be getting the program again on my next cruise in Nov.

  7. So when I got into the taxi last cruise I said I wanted to go to Royal Palms. The driver was like ok. We passed by it on the way to the "public beach" as the other passengers said they wanted a beach. He dropped off at Calico Jacks. I felt a little odd saying hey I wanted to go to Royal Palms and I stayed there at Calico Jacks. Turned out to be ok because there was a fellow solo cruiser on the same ship with me and we spent the day together. But when I go back to this year I want to go to Royal. If the same thing happens should I just put my foot down and say I want Royal Palms?

Has this happened to anyone else?

  8. So I have been cave tubing- great time!! I have zip lined- not so much a great time as I was terrified the whole time lol. I laugh now.

So I am looking for something else to do in Belize City that is safe for a solo to do. I don't want to do the above again I would love a beach but in looking though this thread I don't see much. I don't typically like to stay on board when in port but I am considering. Any ideas? Oh no ruins either. I would want to do that with someone.

    Thanks in advance!!!!

  9. I am flying into FLL Sat and want to spend time in Miami but the shuttle I was able to find they say can be a 3 hour ride with the stops they would have to make. I looked at renting a car but it seems like a big hassle to do that. I was maybe looking into a private car to take me but I also don't want to spend a fortune. Can anyone recommend any companies?

    Thanks in advance!!!

  10. Looking for something to do in MoBay as a solo. I usually like to go to the beach but the only options seen like Dr Caves. But I will be at the beach in Grand Cayman and Cozumel so I was thinking something different maybe. I do like to explore when I am with a friend but I am just a little nervous as I have never been to Jamaica. Cozumel and Grand Cayman I have been to plenty of times,

    thanks in advance!!!!

  11. Hi cjskids-

I had a question, you talked about the forms of transportation around the city. I am trying to save some money from FLL to the hotel and I found out about the tri-rail. Is this really safe from FLL to MIA? I know I would have to transfer to the Metro mover if not mistaken and this would take me to a block from the hotel? I am not sure if I have this all right but if you can advise?

    Thanks!!

  12. WE have done this several times and it is really easy. In fact we are doing it again this winter. The last time we did it it cost $3 per person for the trip from FLL to Mia. It you can handle your luggage by yourself I see no reason not to use it. However if you take everything but the kitchen sink you will be better off using the shuttle. Also the tri rail could be faster depending on rush hour traffic.

Hi, quick question for you... My hotel is right in downtown Miami and a block away from the Metro Mover so I am considering the tri rail. It would cost about 40. to take a shuttle from the airport to my hotel so this is obviously more cost effective. Was it safe? I mean I have taken trains into NYC and been fine alone so I am thinking FLL to Miami should be ok too? Thoughts?

  13. When I get off the boat in Miami, I will have lots of time to spare since my flight out of FLL is at 410. I am not quite sure what to do since I will have luggage with me. I have looked at the Carnival transfers with an excursion but neither appeal to me.

I thought about a day room in FLL but then how do I get to the hotel? I thought shuttle from POM to FLL airport and then have their shuttle pick me up? But its expensive for a few hours and I am not sure I would want to go to this hotel anyways. Its a Rodeway and its $50.00.

Any other suggestions? I do not want to sit at the airport all day. (I got a great deal on a flight and its a non stop home)

    Thanks!!!

  14. I'd guess that Rene is sailing on the Breeze in the middle of November.

At least that is what her signature says. I like the dark inside 1A cabins too, preferably on Upper, Empress or Verandah decks in the Conquest class ships.

    What ship, rene?

FTR, I changed cabins on Sunshine when I realized the fare I'd booked had 4B for the same price as 1A. I prefer to NOT be in the bow and don't really want a window. I like nice, dark inside cabins. ;)

Totally forgot the ship but yes the Breeze in my signature! I like the price and that I get natural light. I just noticed there do not seem to be many portholes on the Breeze.
