  1. Travelling on the Iona in June next year stopping off at Geiranger, which can be a tender port, however it is the only ship showing in port and hopefuly should be able to use the new seawalk pier. I am looking to book a tour with the local excursion company rather than the ships tours, the ship arrives at 9:00 am and the tour is at 10:00. Anyone any experience of this port and if it was a tender would I struggle to make the tour.

  2. ok thanks this is the part on the T&cs that is a bit confusing. Offer is non-transferable and not combinable with Crown & Anchor discounts or any other offer or promotion. Dine, Drink, Discover promotion cannot be redeemed in Chops Grille.  Offer is subject to availability and change without notice and may be withdrawn at any time.

  3. Apologies i know this thread is 2 years old, however my wife and i may be interested in this package sailing on Explorer off the seas on OCT 19. from Southampton If you already have the  alcoholic drinks package  purchased as well,  is there any restrictions on using it with this package. the reason i ask is it mentions something

under the t&cs regarding chops grille and alcohol package  restrictions.

  4. Hi everyone, has anyone any experience of the tender operation over to Newport. On the Summit in June on the independence cruise and was thinking of pre booking a tour with viator that lasts 3 hrs taking in Breakers, however not sure  if I am certain to get there in time for the start off tour at 11:30am Do Celebrity allow all there own excursion passengers off before independant cruisers, as the  arrival time is 8am  and departure is 4pm, there doesn't seem a lot of time to do your own thing here especially if they won't let you off early.

  5. First: I don't know about money but would imagine that there would be money exchanges in the Terminal.

Second: taxis are plentiful and comparatively cheap in HK. You could take the shuttle and load up your baggage in the bus - the bus is for tourist and their baggage! Taxis are plentiful at the terminal.

That said, you can save a few dollars by taking the bus and taxi from the Plaza but why?

You are on vacation and why spend time and energy loading luggage on a bus and then loading it on a taxi?

Only because I was under the impression that there are sometimes not enough taxis at the cruise terminal and that it is quicker to take shuttle bus then taxi from Plaza but if that is wrong I stand corrected and will just wait in the taxi line at the cruise terminal.

  6. My wife and i will be disembarking our cruise at kai tak and going to novotel hotel nathan road for a 3 night stay.

Will we be able to exchange money at cruise terminal.

We will take a taxi to hotel but what advice is best

Wait for taxi in cruise terminal or take free shuttle bus to plaza hollywood and get a taxi there to hotel. Can you load luggage on this free shuttle bus?

    Thanks for any advice given.

  7. Hi Eric,

Just wondering what you decided to do about this port of call please?

We are in the same situation for an upcoming cruise....I just don't know if I fancy sitting on a bus for 2 hours each way to just have a couple of hours at our destination when we get there!!

    Thanks

Hi Den18. We eventually managed to book a tour with local tommydao tours picking us up at the ship and taking in some sights in Danang and then on to Hoi An.

  8. Stopping here next july on voyager of the seas from 10:30 till 19:00 only 8 and half hrs.Seems like hoi an or hue are the main places to visit but with journeys to these places taking up to 2 hrs each way seems like there is next to no time to see the sights. Anyone else had such a short time at this port, i think most other cruise lines stop here for 11 or 12 hrs. Whats the point of even visiting these places when they dont give you any reasonable time there. Poor show from royal carribean. Anyone else got any views on this.

  9. We are on the Celebrity Millennium in January and are going to do the ship's shore excursion called "Hoi An on your own". This seemed to be the closest destination to port plus they have to wait for us because it is their excursion.

Betty how long are you in port with celebrity 8 and half hrs with RC does not seem enough time to me to do much.

  10. On voyager of the seas next july stopping at chan may port from 10 :30 till 19 :00. Our choices of ports to visit will be danang / hue/ hoi an. But what im reading is it can take up to 2 hrs in each direction to reach hue or hoi an. Surely not enough time at this port to do anything worthwhile! Can anyone advise who has visited here. Plenty time in all other ports we are visiting laem chabang ( overnight) phu my (12 hrs) nha trang((12hours). Thanks for any replies.

  11. I am thinking of booking an independant (viator) cruise tour in juneau in june when i arrive on norwegian jewel. Our arrival time is 7:00 and departure is 13: 30 so not much time. The tour is whale watching/ mendanhall glacier / ( and city tour if time) tour lasts approx 5 and half hours starting at 7:30. However it will be dependant on where we berth as i believe one of the berths is over a mile away from the mnt roberts tramway where the tour starts . Can anyone advise as to where NCL ships berth in juneau and advise if this tour is within our timescale if it is indeed the faraway berth. i could look for the same tour without the tour round juneau if we were struggling for time.

  12. Each to their own but l would not book a room that far forward, without a balcony and at the Aurea price. I would prefer a midship balcony with drinks package added on.

The Aurea package comes with drinks and to add a drinks package to the Fantasia level there was very little difference in price. Have you experienced being up the front of ship facing forward in a cabin or is it just your opinion. Thanks.

  13. Booked a middle east cruise on Splendida next year 2018. Have managed to get a Aurea suite cabin 10001 right in the middle front of ship at a good price. Never been in a suite before so my wife fancied the extra room. It has no balcony but a panoramic window. Anyone been in one of these suites and how is it for stability at the front of ship or any other pitfalls we may not have thought off. Aurea balconies are sold out but we could change to other balcony if we are unsure. Anyone offer any advise as to our choice. Thanks.

  14. My wife and I have $200 on board credit as part of our deal and a drinks package on NCL cruise in Alaska in June. Can anyone who has also received this on a very recent cruise confirm if we can use it towards service charges. There seems to be conflicting answers on this looking back at forum posts. I have asked our travel agent and there answer is yes you can, but would like it confirmed by any recent NCL cruisers. Thanks for any help.

  15. My wife and I are doing a 7 day Alaskan cruise on Norwegian jewel in June. I notice it is $13:50 each per day for gratuities total $189. Which in British pounds today is about £151. I went on to Back manage my booking today and noticed the option of prepay your gratuities. The total price was £119. Quite a substantial saving but is this normal, as I haven't seen anyone on the forums mention it is better to prepay them.

  16. Just an update on this. Managed to email royal Caribbean shores excursions team and ask about this. They have emailed me back to say they have no plans to add that excursion at the end of this cruise with no reason why? So looks like I will have to arrange something by myself. Already had a quote from spaceporttransport .com which is reasonable so may go ahead with them. But still surprised Royal Carribean are not offering this with over 6000 people onboard.

  17. We've booked the ships Kennedy excursion and airport drop off for our Feb Oasis trip. Cant see why they wouldn't offer it for every cruise. We thought the cost was quite reasonable as it includes the entrance fee to Kennedy and should make our last day a smooth one.

That's interesting to note that it is an option on your cruise, There is nothing showing on cruise excursions disembarkation day on Oct 15 2017. I would have thought that it would be a popular excursion for many on there last day and cant think of any reason they would not offer it for passengers with later flights that day.

  18. On our last cruise day our flight does not leave till after 6pm, we would like to finish off our holiday by visiting Kennedy space centre then on to airport can anyone advise any transport shuttle companies that would pick us up at ship on disembarkation( keep our luggage) then return for us and take us to the airport for our flight home to the UK. I don't see any excursion planned on our ship oasis of the seas in October for this. Many thanks for any suggestions.

  19. My wife and i booked up a our 1st ever river cruise jewels of the rhine amsterdam to basel starting on 23rd march 2015 to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary with Emerald waterways. We received a phone call to tell us that the river cruise has been cancelled as the boat has been "hired out to another company". We were offered the following week but it does not tie in with our anniversary so have had to cancel with a full refund, we are deeply disappointed. Not very professional from this new company, Anyone else had this same cruise cancelation. Also on the website at the moment it is still advertising these same dates, not very professional again. What do other forum members think of this, is it common to hire river cruise boats out to someone else. Poor Poor Poor
