I know of 2 bartenders who are currently on the Coral. Rhobbie and Romeo. Both were on the Royal when we were on it last April and we had met Rhobbie on a previous cruise. Both are very friendly and excellent bartenders. If you do see them please tell them Pauline and Jim were asking for them. Enjoy your cruise.

We had a brilliant day on board today thanks to one of the staff we met on our cruise earlier in the year. Lots of travel agents around and everyone seemed very positive about the ship. We took my 90 year old mother who had never been on a ship and she was very impressed. Makes me more impatient to be on the Emerald in 4 weeks time

Neil was on the Crown in September 2009. The ship failed to get in to about 4 ports due to weather issues (North Atlantic) and Neil and his staff were excellent at arranging entertainment at short notice. He was very approachable and interacted well with passengers, unlike others we have encountered. He apparently left the ships shortly after that to spend time with his family but has obviously now came back. Would like to sail with him again sometime.

We have used the coach service to and from Southampton (from Glasgow) for both Cunard and Princess cruises. It is a long journey but enough stops are made. we flew home once but the flight was around 4.00pm then. We didn't go straight to the airport but did get there about 3 hours before the flight. The airport is tiny with nothing to do. There is a restaurant and a bar and a Costa Coffee where we got something to eat. The rest of the time was spent watching planes arrive and leave. At least with the coach you feel you are getting somewhere!!

We were below the Skywalk on the Royal on Dolphin deck and had no privacy issues with it. The piano player in Crooners was Kory Simon and he played till midnight most nights. We were above a bar with music on another ship, and, although we couldn't really hear the music we were aware of the bass.

You should be able to get smaller denomination notes at the Purser's desk. We did this on our Royal Princess cruise in April this year.

There are different levels of wine package. The one we get is the Gold one, 10 bottles , each bottle up to the value of $45. The cost of this one is $290+15%. We have always thought that it's was very good value. There are other levels available but not sure of the prices. Maybe you would find that on here if you did a search for wine package as I am sure it has been posted before.

We bought the Wine Package on embarkation day and were only charged the usual 15% service charge that you pay when purchasing drinks. We did wait till we were having dinner so maybe we were far enough out by then.

It's a pity it is not being shown on Scottish TV. My mother had been looking forward to seeing the ship but has no access to the English ITV channels on her TV. I'll need to record it and get her to our house to see it each week.

We were upgraded to the same cabin on the TransAtlantic in April. The balcony is larger due to the midships shape. No problems with people looking down from the Skywalk. The only downside is the lack of stairs midship. Enjoy!

I am sure the Future Cruise Consultant on our recent Royal Princess cruise said that they would be counting the land portion from now on.

Stamp card was available on the Royal in April this year although not widely promoted.
-
Yes they were available. We bought the Gold 10 bottle one - $290+15%.

We were on the Royal TA this year, no charge in Alfredos and no charge for mixers. Seems they are charging differently on some of the ships. A bit confusing for folks! We also had breakfast delivered twice without any charge.

Just back from the Royal. Malt whiskys available in Vines were, Glenfiddoch, Glenlivet, Dalwhinnie, Cragganmore and Talisker. Don't know what was available in the other bars.
-
We have just returned from the Royal and had cabin D409 which is midships and has a larger angled balcony. Plenty of room on the balcony if you like to make a lot of use of it.

There is no diet tonic water on board but you can bring along all you like. They do have Diet Sprite as well as Diet Coke in cans but you can bring your own there as well.
Mike:)
I have just returned from the Royal Transatlantic and was able to get Diet Tonic in the bars. Sometimes they had to go to another one to get it but never refused. There was a charge for it (sometimes) as it didn't come from the gun. It was a bottle that would do 3 spirit drinks for me.

Is there a different way to sign out when using an IPad. Have just bought one so not fully up to speed with it yet.

Which ship are you referring to? We have been on all 3 Cunard ships and the shower on the QM2 was larger than the other two.

Dawn, i found this from a helpful member of cc (IECalCruiser) May 2013:
Currently there are two different packages. (Prices are subject to change)
1.) Silver Tier (any bottle of wine up to and including $29 in retail value)
2.) Gold Tier (any bottle of wine up to and including $45 in retail value)
Silver Tier:
7 Pack - $161
10 Pack - $210
12 Pack - $240
Gold Tier:
7 Pack - $217
10 Pack - $290
12 Pack - $336
There will be 15% to add to these prices for the 'gratuity'.
Hope this helps.
Pete
Someone on another thread said that the wine packages were being discontinued in favour of the all inclusive package. Hopefully this is a rumour as we thought the wine package was very good value for money and feel the all inclusive to be a bit pricey when two people have to buy it.

Depends when the ship leaves. Train to Glasgow takes 45minutes to an hour then you would have to add on the journey to Greenock. Doubt there will be any public transport available at that time so unless Princess are running shuttles from Glasgow you could well have a very expensive taxi ride to factor in to your costs.

We flew to Newark last November to join the QM2 - Transatlantic. We went with United Airlines direct from Glasgow. Flight was fine - staff friendly and the food was okay too.

We flew in to BA a couple of days before our Antarctica cruise a number of years ago and don't remember paying an 'entrance fee' but when flying home from there after the cruise had to pay an 'exit fee' of $10 before we were allowed through security. We had flights arranged by Princess so perhaps they had paid the 'entrance fee' without our knowledge.

Anyone know if it's available on the Caribbean Princess? We got it on the Golden last year and hoped to get it again in April this year.
Diet tonic water on the Crown?

I cannot understand why this is not freely available as we met many passengers who had been asking for this on the Emerald in Novemebr. I got diet tonic on the Royal last April without any hassle but was told there was none on board the Emerald. When I enquired about this at the Customer Service Desk I was told I should have requested it as a dietery requirement on the Cruise Personaliser. In the end the Bar Manager did find 14 bottles that he then left for me behind the bar we used at night. This became a huge talking point at the bar as other passengers felt a bit aggrieved when they saw me with it as they has also been asking for it and been told it was not available. We are booked on the Royal this April and I requested it on the personaliser. This has resulted in various emails from Princess regarding how many bottles/cans I would like. Still not sure how I will get these on board unless we choose to drink at the same bar all the time. There is a charge for them, I was charged $2 per bottle on the Emerald. As a previous poster said you can bring your own with you but I didn't fancy having to tote them around the ship each day/night and as we are travelling from the UK we would need to find a store near the hotel we are staying at in Miami the night before the cruise.
