  1. Still planning to book Spirit Aegean Titans for end of March. Tempted to semi treat ourselves and get Deluxe cabin which books says are on decks 6, 7, and 8. Noticed that on deck 6 the windows look directly out on to the promenade deck. Local TA said they had had complaints that curtains had to be drawn to prevent nosey promenaders from looking in. However, rang Thomsons customer services and they said that the windows on that deck were one-way glass so you could see out but no one could see in. I know that without paying the extra fee for reserving a specific cabin then its pot-luck as to what deck of the three you are allocated. Has anyone got experience of deck 6 and would they like to comment? thanks.

stopped in cabins on deck 6 quite a few times, only at night when the light is on can you see into the cabin and thats only if you get really close to the window, and most people do have the curtains shut at night, only advise go more for the middle section of the cabins the ones near showlounge are not as quiet at night

  2. We are going on the Discovery in two weeks time and are staying at Gatwick the night before, and we were wondering if we will be able to check our bags in the night before. Has anyone done this?

Also can anyone that has been on Discovery lately tell me what time the safety drill is.

    Thanks

as it is bonded luggage you have to check your luggage in, in the morning, think the muster was 6:30 but our flight was delayed, you don't need to take your life jackets either they scan each persons card and do the normally safety demo

  3. Does anyone know if you get priority boarding on Discovery if you have a junior suite please?

yes its a separate desk if available in the port, you get a p sticker on your envelope with the cards , but heard it can still be a big queue depending on how many people are in the suites as they are a lot more on the discovery than the other ships

  4. Just back a week ago when we first boarded the majesty I thought what have we done noisy creaking all night but on awaking the first morning realised we had endured a force 10 from gran canaria to la Palma ,explored ship n thought it's not to bad it was just the bad weather .

On going into breakfast realised as only about a dozen of us in n crockery smashing everywhere ,was entertaining watching other passengers walking around ship.

As the week went on we grew to love the ship n thought hey ho it's not that bad n couldn't understand why Thomsons are getting rid it's better in our opinion than the spirit which we sailed last August n the celebration the year before,we sailed on splendour whilst under Royal Caribbean n found it a great ship so discovery is also better than most of Thomsons fleet ,looking forward to discovery 2 and both the main sheiff ships coming over in the next two years .

All in all Thomsons give in our opinion good value for money with flights ,tips n drinks included.

Yes there are better ships out in the field but honestly wouldn't slam Thomsons for their overall package.

We've sailed p&o,Royal Caribbean, princess and msc and can only say we've never hated any ,either we re easily pleased or don't look for faults.

    Enjoy !

Thomsons are getting rid of the majesty and spirit because they are leased from louis cruises and this ends at the end of the summer season, the majesty actually gets the worse reviews of the fleet, the spirit got the best scores last year, been on majesty once but never again for us like they say a marmite ship

Looks to be like the following...

MEIN SCHIFF 1 (LISTED AS TUI DISCOVERY 3 ON VILLEFRANCHE)

Looks to be Western Med, most likely Palma on Saturday.

    TUI DISCOVERY

    Ex-UK Departures

    TUI DISCOVERY 2

Corfu itineraries on Friday departures including Adriatic every other week

    THOMSON DREAM

    Palma itineraries on Tuesday departures

    THOMSON CELEBRATION

    Dubrovnik on Thursday departures

    THOMSON SPIRIT???...

Being listed doing western Med cruises under Celeystal/Louis. Seems to be going from Palma on Sunday departures, with a very, very similar pattern to Thomson itineraries. Perhaps the rumoured Thomas Cook operation or Celeystal/Louis continuing Spirit with their own itineraries. They have lately said they are looking at growing their UK customer base.

  6. My thank you so much Firstly Dream was an error I knew she wasn't in the Caribbean winter 2017/2018

Secondly the initial TA repositioning cruise for Discovery was 23 days to Corfu and I was told by TA not available yet because of May flights - not happy

Thirdly then I saw it was doing an extra week in Caribbean from 15th so realised she wouldn't be sailing until 22nd April

Fourthly I have been looking on line for a 15+ night cruise as the TAs usually are and have completely missed it as it's only a 14 night cruise

Not happy - do not want to go into Malaga and definitely not after being in Gibraltar the day before and having all the scanning problems at Malaga port.

Perhaps the best solution is to book it and book the first week cruise to Corfu if that's going to be her home port but will have to wait for summer brochure to do that

Well thanks for helping me out very grateful

  7. Sorry but only Celebration, Dream and Discovery2 are available to book on line for their TA repositioning cruises

Celebration leaves Dominican Republic in March and Discovery2 leaves Montego Bay in April and arrives in the Med before end of April. However Discovery 1 has had an extra week added for the winter Caribbean season and doesn't arrive at its home port in Corfu until May and the flights for summer 2018 have not been finalised which is why it's not available to book yet I.e only when the summer 2018 brochure is released.

the dream is not doing a ta, its in the canaries for the winter

  8. I have a copy of itineries for Discovery called Tropical Sunsets which was posted on CC forum some time ago which shows the repositioning cruise starting from Barbados on 15th April 2018 - visiting Castries, Basseterre, Philipsburg, St Johns, 6 days at Sea, Funchal, day at sea, Cadiz, Malaga, day at Sea, Cagliari, Taranto, Corfu Town - arriving 4th May 2018.

However as this cruise is still not on sale and Discovery is offering a further week commencing 15th April in the Caribbean then I assume the repositioning cruise will commence 22nd April.

I have also seen that Discovery has been booked into port in Norway during summer 2018 on this forum but as has happened before this booking could be for another ship, maybe Discovery 2?

Anyway all will become clear when the new brochure comes out in April.

its on the web site, its been up since before xmas and heard selling quick

    We've found 1 cruise

  9. 'Never been on Thompson, but if they follow other Cruise Lines, the muster will be the evening we set sail. Although I always try to accidentally miss the mass drill and instead get something to eat and wait for the inevitable card to pop thru the cabin door informing me to the muster on the next seaday'

Muster is now always before a ship sails and should be attended by everyone who has just boarded. It is not a joke and is International Maritime Law and if the elderly and those in wheelchairs can attend then so can everyone else Or are those who don't attend expecting others to help them in the case of an emergency although they are able bodied. On my last cruise I heard a party of 8 sorting out who would attend to call out the cabin nos so they could keep their table outside Liberties. I have done many cruises with Thomson, know their ships well and know exactly where I should be for muster but I still attend. How anyone can actually advertise the fact that they 'accidentally' don't attend which sets a bad example to new cruisers is beyond me. And for the record I'm not a goody two shoes

the ships will eventually have the same system as the discovery when all cards are scanned at muster, so no trying to avoid it

  10. TA says April -same as last year unfortunately we were on Dream doing Transatlantic and missed out on the good price on the Celebration Baltic cruise by the time we got back it had gone up £300 and only 2.5 weeks after new brochure came out it was so popular. We want to book Discovery TA from Barbados but it won't be out til April as it doesn't get back to Corfu until May and the flights aren't settled yet so we'll have to book at Destination services on the ship I think to ensure price doesn't rise again before we get back. TA says she'll text me as soon as it's available 🚢😎

the discovery 1 and 2 tas are available to book online

  11. Hi nigkar unfortunately it does not include speciality coffee but you get 50% off in the coffee port. You can have a nice cup in one of the bars and shot of something in it! Not all the drinks are free but wine is, draft beer and spirits including Drambuie, Bailey's etc and now proseco. You also have to pay for bottled water and they will offer it a dinner just ask for tap water most do. We love the ship it is small but has a great atmosphere, entertainment and food.

Sent from my VF-895N using Forums mobile app

baileys and prosecco arn't on the spirtis ai either its drinks package is totally different to the celebration, dream or discovery

  12. Hi, just thought.... we have not received any tickets by post or email and we leave 15th Jan.for Carribean

Printed our boarding cards, but usually with other lines we get some form of ticket.

Will ring Thomson shop but just wondered if Thomson do not issue tickets ?

Reading info it seems we have to visit Thomson Cruise desk in Manchester Airport where they issue labels for our pre booked cabin prior to bag drop.

Is this the regular Thomson procedure?

    Cheers for help.

We go 15th and no e tickets yet but you only need your boarding passes not been asked for e tickets for ages

  13. We are cruising on the Majesty in January.

Just wondered if anybody know who the cruise director is and also any entertainment/ talk etc they would recommend seeing or avoiding.

    Many thanks

cd is Tayler McCullough ( his first season as a cd) and acd is Jack Harrison, can't help with the other question, Matt and Amy in the showtean are brilliant singers though

  14. Yes, I know they are online these days. We used to fill them in every time both paper in earlier days and online fairly recently, adding what we considered valid comments, but that was probably futile as they never seemed to follow up any adverse remarks. We have taken many hotel trips with Thomson and so far just the one cruise - next one in the Caribbean in January - and you can bet that either on the coach back to the airport and probably from the cabin crew on the aircraft they will be asking for good marks in the online survey. Rather not hear that, good operators do not need to ask for pats on the back.

The staff are told to tell people about the forms, the cd on dream explained to us earlier in the year even though he knew they are now sent out randomly, and the surveys do get back to the ship, on the discovery they were stilldoing the paper questionaires and they were being read too
