  1. No I absolutely did not expect an upgrade, just what I was told. If you had read my other comments you would see that I am considering paying the price to move. No need to be rude. I have picked my cabin on every other sailing in a balcony and am fine paying to do so. I understand this is partly my own fault and I have said as much.

No one is being rude. Sometimes the truth just doesn't suit people, so they incorrectly feel those speaking the truth are being rude. Not the case ! After all, you aired this for public discussion and opinion - and people are giving their opinions.

You have been a member here quite a while, I find it hard to believe you have not read (even read repeatedly) how misinformed many Carnival employees are.

  2. Just an additional note. Any future cruise credits that you may have can't be used as a deposit for a new booking. They may be applied to any future cruise that you have booked. In other words, if you don't have a future cruise already booked, you will have to pay the deposit on the new booking. The future cruise credit could then be applied towards the balance of that booking.

This is Carnival’s rule but they break it routinely.

I have cancelled a cruise just recently and used leftover deposit (after $50 penalty) on deposit of different cruise.

  3. I need it just to print our SW boarding passes.

Just buy the Southwest EarlyBird for your flight home - you get checked in before most of the other passengers so you can get good seats. Then print the paper boarding passes at kiosk at the airport.

A small price to pay for no stress and peace of mind.

I use it for every after cruise return flight

  4. I just dont understand why that information is important before you get on the ship. That information is on every cabin door. When the whistle alarm sounds you head to the stairs and the crew directs everyone

    It's not !!

However, there are some who just feel they have to "control" every single detail.

It's like needing to know what side of the tender they will be sitting on, will the ship dock head in or back in, what side of the ship will the sunset be on, port or starboard.

    Go figure.

  5. Tips: Some in my crew felt the 15% added to your bill may be too high if the actual workers arenot getting the full 15%. In speaking with our waiter and cabin steward, it turns out that they actually prefer cash,so we took those two off our bill and paid both the same amount but in cash. Both were extremely grateful and I will not repeat what they stated to me on here, but they see a fraction of that 15%, and have to pay taxes on what little they get after Carnival takes their share.

Tips are a flat daily fee, not a percentage. And Carnival does not "steal" any of the money collected for tips. It is distributed in a manner that Carnival publishes for everyone to see.

A percentage tip is added for beverage purchases, that is not covered by the daily amount Carnival collects.

Other than the fact that the employees likely pay taxes on their tip income, your assessment is incorrect.

  6. Make sure if/when you call they book you in a refundable rate, otherwise if you cancel, your deposit won't be returned.

Carnival is real sneaky at booking people in non-refundable rates so they can keep the deposit if you cancel.

  7. I had to post after hearing about J. Heald saying that they are going to stop giving out the "ship on a stick". I haven't seen any posts yet (but I have to admit, I didn't look too hard;p).

This is a perfect example of blatant "fake news".

Threadstarter might as well have posted that Carnival cruisers will be given accommodations in a kayak from today forward.

This just provides Heald with another opportunity to "bash" Cruise Critic (probably already on his Facebook page)

Those of you who are always starting threads, how about adopting a little bit of responsibility.

And no, I don't care one way or the other about a cheap plastic trinket attached to a stand.

  8. Turning the wi-fi back on in airplane mode will not allow us to get billed for data or cell use will it?

Of course not - Wifi and cell network are two different things.

As I and others told you months ago in one of your multiple threads about this, if you are still that paranoid about this, take the sim cards out.

Then the phone(s) can only connect to Wifi.

With the sim card out, it cannot receive a cell network signal until you re-insert the sim card.
