The P & O mini cruise from Hull is fantastic value! They go to Bruges, and there is also one to Amsterdam or to Rotterdam. I have done the Amsterdam trip lots of times it's a fantastic city break with lots to see and do, and the Bruges trip is also very enjoyable.
My son has just booked to go to Amsterdam from Hull on 5th October -outside cabin for two sailing out Sunday evening, arriving at 8am the following morning, coach into Amsterdam included in the price, one night in Amsterdam (paid separately) and returning the following evening to arrive in Hull at 8am the next day. Total cost of ship and coach transfers £105 for two! (It's 2 for 1 from 1 October to end of March).
If Thomson sailed from Hull I would definitely be interested!

Not sure if I should book this cruise now as there is £75 off until 9th Sept or to wait until next month to see if the price goes down even more?
Hi there
Correct me if I'm wrong but don't you have to have a minimum spend of £999 to qualify for the £75 discount?
Price from Gatwick is down to £394 but no free drinks package now.
Will it go down further? I wouldn't like to gamble on that one lol!

Got me thinking there Flopsy ..Which shop would be local to Campolady who lives in Spain ;):D:D
Oh yes- well spotted tyke! Forgot the lady lives in Spain!

Next time ring your local Thomson shop to pay your balance- I have always found them helpful- and no unwanted extras are offered!

Especially as she then brought you 2 glasses by way of apology?
Yes it was of some comfort to me that my objection to the grotty and grubby looking plastic glass was acknowledged.
But I would rather not have had the altercation at all.
Perhaps when the waitress is fetching wine for someone in the restaurant she should ask the barman to put it in a proper glass.

its not really fair to taint an entire nation just because one girl brought you an old glass once:confused::confused:
I wasn't tainting 'an entire nation'! Please don't label me with that! But I've not seen any adverse comments about waitresses before.
I know of a few Philipino staff who didn't get their contracts renewed after years on board, and they have no idea why not, which seems a shame.

Flopsy, now you mention it I saw a similar episode in San Marco although I didn't hear what was actually said. You weren't on the last week in June were you?:)
No, I was on at the beginning of May.

Just my bad experience with the East European staff then.
On one occasion I signed a bar slip and the East European girl gave it back to me and said I must sign it exactly on the line! I felt ticked off!
On another day in San Marco restaurant I ordered a glass of wine, which was brought in a plastic 'glass' which I thought looked unclean. I remarked 'this glass looks a bit dirty' and the East European girl said 'No, its not dirty its just old' and walked off but stood watching me to see if I mentioned it to my husband who had just joined me- but I didn't. I wasn't on the open deck so I don't see why I had to have the wine in a scratched old plastic 'glass'. She must have had second thoughts because ten minutes later she came back with another two glasses, in a proper glasses not plastic. My husband who knew nothing of the previous conversation said 'oh sorry,it's not ours, we haven't ordered this'. She said 'it's on the house' which really puzzled him lol. We were on all inclusive!

Thankyou for the interesting review. It was lovely to read your comments.
I have been on both ships and I too found the East European staff surly, and stroppy!- it comes as a shock after the happy and cheerful Philipino gems!
The fiasco at Corfu airport is well known- the airport is just too small for the amount of traffic passing through and the way they get you to check in and then give your luggage back to you, to queue again then to haul your cases onto the scanner, adds to the time it takes to get through to the departure lounge! I try to avoid the place and opt for cruises starting elsewhere!

[quote=Ha ha - I used to make DH pack his stuff, but he was so hopeless at it, that I now say to him, put your stuff out on the bed and I will pack it - you men really are clever aren't you?
I can't remember EVER packing DH's case! Perhaps I'm just fortunate that he spent many years living on his own before I met him so it has never occurred to him to get someone else to pack his case.
I have made him a list of essential items to pack, it's on an A4 card- but he usually ignores it and forgets something.......- once it was his teeth he forgot- I was horrified- till I realised he was just pulling my leg - they were in his pocket!

Hi Linda,
I'm probably not going to be too popular for saying this either, but we found the addition of the Eastern European staff detracted from the happy, smiley, helpful service we had experienced previously. Despite being onboard for two weeks, and trying our best to make conversation, most remained surly and sullen.]
Jo
I agree with you about the East European staff- I too found them so different from those from the Phillipines, Indonesia, etc, staff who are so outgoing, friendly and love a laugh and a joke. Some say the East Europeans have a quieter, dry sense of humour but I never managed to illicit much response from them I'm afraid!

Hi Happihol4
Welcome to the Thomson fan club!
I do hope you enjoy your cruise- not long now.
When you go on the sundeck, deck 10, do look out for the Filipino waitress Rose- once seen never forgotten. She serves near Topsiders Bar next to the plunge pool- she is always laughing. She is the only female singer in the Crew Show and looks so different in her posh frock belting out 'Fame'!
Come back and tell us what you thought about your experience.

Hi there
So glad we could help!
Kruzseeka usually recommends some good seasickness tablets- Sturgeon? No doubt she will be posting again tomorrow to advise you better than I can!
Do a search under my name for my reviews.
But the previous poster has summarised the changes very well. San Marco buffet restaurant is much improved, as poster says.

Well I haven't been on Colourful Coasts but I feel that the weather around the Canaries is usually good in January and February - my sister goes there every year in those months for a few weeks of sunshine! I wouldn't worry on that score.
No doubt other regulars will soon be on here to reassure you.
But, having done twelve Thomson cruises, on the Spirit, the Celebration, and the Dream, our last two cruises have been on the Majesty and I can assure you that it is a fantastic ship and the happy cheerful crew will make it a holiday to remember.

We have done the Adriatic Explorer cruise three times in the first week in May and the weather has always been good. Certainly not cold!
We always book a year ahead so as to get the All Inclusive drinks package for FREE.

Kruzseeka
Well said.
I can't be alone in getting a little p***ed off with being referred to as 'Brits' and constantly being told there are better ships and cheaper.
I don't care!
I love the Thomson ships and local airports-I won't be moving to the glitzy ships and London flights!

Topsey - ladies wear knickers, men wear pants
I've got to agree with Linda- I wouldn't want my hubby wearing knickers - although what he gets up to when I'm out at work...who knows lol!

I don't know why we can't pay the balance on line like we can with Thomson package holidays.... oh silly me, of course they need to ask me to buy the extras-seats together on the plane, flowers in the cabin, upgrade to a more expensive cabin, etc, etc!

I just phone the telephone number shown on the email reminding me to pay the balance.
What a diabolical experience!
It said my call would be answered in one minute and then I was blasted with the loudest distorted 'music' I have ever had the misfortune to be subjected to! It was so loud I had to hold the phone away from me at arms length.
After three minutes I had had enough! I rang the local Thomson shop and paid over the phone in less than one minute.

Hi Annzkat & Kim
Good to here that more of you have booked this cruise.
I'm sure your mums will love it!
Maybe we can say hello on board- look out for me- short, fair hair and fat(!) and wearing a black top with a red flower pinned onto it! You will find me on Deck 10 sitting in the sun with a lager lol.
