  1. Thanks so much Suzie for the review with the pictures and the great descritions that you did. I loved all the information and the personality that you put into that review. Like you and your husband my sister and I are are going with a couple from Wisconsin that we met on our first Alaska cruise and have a really fun relationship with. Lots of laughing when we are together - we always look at the fun size of a situation and make the best of it and that's what your review reflects on you and your husband. I have to say my favorite picture was you taking a selfie with the coast line in the background. Loved it. We are staying a couple extra days in Waikiki before flying home to Ohio and have rented a car. I'm going to take your advise and make sure we study the maps before we drive up to the north coast along the coast and not depend totally on GPS. Once again - thanks so much for pointing me to your review and happy travels...

  2. Does anyone have the Fun Times on the Legend that they could scan and send to me from the Hawaii to Vancouver cruise - May 5th, 2016? We are doing the opposite cruise going from Vancouver to Hawaii on Sept. 13, 2016 and would like to see what great things they planned on sea days. Let me know if you have them and I'll send my email address. Thanks much...

  3. Thanks for letting me know I'll be able to use in casino. I'm not a drinker so I really don't have a lot of extra expenses on the ship. Even though my son and his wife purchased these I'll be able to use them on my account on the ship? Now that I thought about it just wanted to make sure it doesn't follow a name - because the receipt email I saw said that they will send him a digital gift card in an email. You can see this is all new stuff to me so any info is appreciated.

  4. My son and his wife were both able to get cards just now. I've never used anything like this before - will I be able to use this money in the casino? Cruise is already paid for since we are sailing in September. Thanks so much for posting this savings....I love cruise critic and all the great ideas that people post....

  5. We did this tour thru Holland America in 2014 and I have to agree with Colorado Beach Bum....it has been our favorite thing we've ever done on an excursion. So even if you book it thru Carnival you won't be disappointed. The crew on the Aleutian Ballard makes this tour hands on and you get to hold crabs and other creatures. By far the best.

  6. Could you copy and paste them one at a time and than print them all?

That's a good suggestion - maybe I'll try to do a couple and see how that works out. Sounds like a good weekend project. At least I have plenty of time - we don't sail until September. Thanks much

  7. I called Carnival and unfortunately the only option is to go in and select each excursion and print them one at a time. The do not offer the option to go to the shore excursion part of your booking and select a port and print all the excursions offered for that port. So I guess I'll pick each port and go in and print only the ones I know we might be interested in to have them for comparison. She also said they don't have any brochures or literature that she could send out that would cover this either. Hope this answers questions that other cruise critic members might have had. Safe travels to all...

  8. We are planning a trip to Hawaii in September. Does anyone know an easy way to print all the excursions offered for Hawaii from the Carnival website? In the past on Holland America and NCL we've printed out everything that was offered and then we would go and read thru all of them marking ones with interest and marking out the ones we didn't care about This made it so much easier than looking at each one of the web and writing down our options. I know I can go in and print each one individually but it was so easy when we had them all together. Hope someone out there in cruise critic has been able to figure out a way to do this. Thanks for any suggestions or help you can give me - Safe travels to all.

  9. I couldn't agree with you more. Before my Mom passed away at 94 she had macular degeneration which progressed over the years. I saw her going from an avid reader and afternoon soap opera fan to not being able to see well at all. At times when I'm in the house at night and walk around without the lights on I feel like that must have been how she felt all the time. I'm blessed with decent health....and do have compassion for those that don't.... Hope you enjoy the trip. My sister and I have been to Alaska on cruises twice and we hope to go back in 2017 to celebrate my retirement (if all goes well :).

    Safe Travels...

I have been following this blog since the beginning and it was so enjoyable to see Alaska thru her family's eyes..... Truly everyone should go to Alaska at least once in their lifetime.

  10. We did this tour last year on this boat from the Deadliest Catch and I have to say it was one of the most enjoyable tours we did. Very dedicated crew and you get to get involved with touching the "creatures". So even though it seems pricey I think you would really enjoy it. We try to save money on other things so that it doesn't bother us as much to pay a little more for the excursions. Sean - hope you decide to have and have a great trip.

  11. We sailed on the NCL Sun in March and as I am a thrifty cruiser (not a drinker, not a shopper on ship, don't use the spa, etc.) I thought I would be able to use as in the past on other ships my OBC on our service charges. We always get a copy of our bill the day before the end of the cruise so that we can see what charges, balance, etc is before the last day. When I saw I still had the $100 credit on there I checked with customer service and they told me that you cannot use it for that. The only thing I did spend money on the ship was in the casino so they told me I could cash in the $100 at the casino. I went up and checked that night and cashed it in at the cashier - it cost me $3 for this transaction but for me it was a ton better than running around and trying to spend my money on something that I didn't really want or need. She gave me the $97 in cash - so it wasn't like I had to gamble it and that was good. Maybe this will help someone else. Thanks - Happy Sailings

  12. We've always removed all the things ourselves and put them in an empty shelf, cupboard, or in a space that we weren't going to be using. The night before we leave we put everything back. It keeps us from drinking one of their items and being charged for it. We bring our own pop on the cruise ship and have never had any issues. Hope this helps and enjoy your cruise. We did the Pride of America in 2010 and absolutely loved it...hoping some day to make this cruise again.

  13. Thanks so much for that information. Being in my 60's and growing up on a farm in the country we basically drank the Millers, Buds, and everyday type of beer. All the fancy ones are way beyond my knowledge...so once again cruise critic members come thru and help me with my choices. I'm sure my son will appreciate that on his birthday in April if I bring some home and surprise him with it.....

  14. Thanks so much for the info - I've printed it out to take with me. Son likes the darker brews so I'm hoping to pick up a couple of different beers to bring back. His friends get together and all get a taste of each one so it's not so much if they like it - it's more the experience of trying something different from out of the US. Happy Sailing

  15. On the last couple of cruises since they are no longer sending out your info in the mail with sticky durable luggage tags....I've printed them out and folded them up and take them to work and run them thru our laminating machine....cut them to size....punch a hole in them and before we get to the departure port we zip tie them to the suitcase handle. Works great ..... very durable and don't have to worry about how to attach them. They show that you should staple them...but how many people carry a stapler with them on vacation. Before we get off the ship to fly home we take a finger nail clipper and cut them off and usually keep one to put in the photo album. Hope this works for other people. We've done this on both Holland and NCL. Enjoy your cruise

  16. We will be in Roatan in March on the Norwegian Sun. I heard they have really great beer in Honduras and would like to purchase a couple bottles to bring home to my son. Someone said you can purchase at Eldon Grocery store but I'm not sure how far from the pier and is it still in a touristy neighborhood where it is safe to walk from the ship. He likes to chill it and open it up at a family get together and everyone can have a taste of it. When we were on a cruise in Alaska in August after we checked in on the ship we walked to a Safeway grocery store in Seward and I bought a couple of dark beers - handed them over to security when we reboarded the ship and they were in my room the last night of our cruise to pack up. It was a great Christmas surprise. We had no issues with customs coming thru Canada. Also if anyone has suggestions for beer at the other 3 ports where we are stopping (Cozumel / Costa Maya / Belize) I would appreciate all the input I can get. Thanks much and happy sailing to everyone

  17. We are sailing to the Western Caribbean in March and as this is a first time going to a Caribbean location can someone tell me what the dress code is in the main dining room in the evening. Do we have to bring dress slacks or will casual capris work? We will eat at the buffet for breakfast and lunch if we're not out on an excursion and we don't pay the cost to eat at the speciality restaurants. We are flying in from Ohio and spending 3 days in Florida before boarding the ship so we'll have our warm clothes from flying in from probably freezing weather (or going home to that) plus the clothes that we will be wearing on land before we board. I'm just hoping that this is a really laid back cruise and can save that space in my suitcase for something else. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  18. My question to you is on the ship NCL Sun. We are booked on there in March and I was wondering about how people are dressing in the dining rooms. Do women have to wear long pants or can you get away with wearing capri pants to dinner? I'm trying to cut back as much as possible and leaving extra room in our suitcase for purchases. We always eat at the included dining choices...I figure why pay more when we don't have to.

  19. We had time post cruise in mid August and because we had done the city tour in 2008 we decided to look for something else. We bought tickets to Capilano Suspension Bridge park and were able to take a free shuttle bus from hotel to the park. It was one of the most enjoyable things we did on the trip other than the Bering Sea tour while we were in port at Ketchikan. Hope you find something fun and enjoy your trip.

  20. We were disappointed that we didn't have more time to see Calgary when we were there but unfortunately we got there early evening and had to be at the airport for a late morning departure. My sister would have liked going to the Olympic center and doing the luge run.....and she's in her 70's. A little too fast for my liking. Now it's time to try and figure out a new place to cruise as we have done Alaska twice, Hawaii, and Quebec to the New England states during fall foliage. I would love to do Australia (and was really surprised how many people we met on this trip that came from there). But that cruise is probably way out of my price range so I'll have to come up with something more reasonable. Nice chatting with you....I hope you have travel plans also
