Onboard Arvia at moment. This is my retirement year and  we booked three cruises to make the most of it. The onboard prices have gone up on all three cruises so we find ourselves drinking less and spending a lot less thank you P&O. Will not compare prices to pubs as don’t go to pubs 14 nights running. 😀. As it’s only September would bet 4th rise of the year on the cards.

We are on Royal Caribbean in a couple if weeks

P&O onboard prices are a bargain.

I'm afraid if I had to think about doing all things every time I touched something, it wouldn't be worth cruising!   So I wash my hands and then I hold a menu and then I sanitise.  Don't think so.  You'd be doing that a hundred times a day?

We don't touch a thing g in the buffet without washing our hands afterwards. We use a tissue to touch menus and wipe cutlery and salt/pepper pots. Lots of slobs out there.

Medical experts will be used to explain the incubation period etc of all illnesses of this type.  If everyone boarding at Southampton is presumed well at departure (cannot say about the crew but records would be checked) this would be used for the basis of the argument put forward to the court.

The interesting question would be if the supposed best endeavours, ie the worldwide protocol is actually fit for purpose in the event of a severe outbreak.  A total deep clean would take many many hours longer than the delay period.

If it actually makes it to court that question could have quite far reaching effects on the industry.

On our questionnaire on Arvia I told them to have more washy, washy crew as your customers are slobs...they didn’t listen...how much does an expert witness get.?.

Good morning everyone, hope you are all ok today.

It looks a dull morning here today but forecast to reach 21 degrees later.

A busy day ahead for me. Taking dogs to dog sitter in Yorkshire this morning then coming home to pack.

We are taking my mum on a Warners break to Heythrop Park in the Cotswolds tomorrow.  Daughter, son in law and grandchildren staying at ours as Blackpool Illuminations are on plus the first round of the World Fireworks Championships tomorrow night.

Have a nice day whatever you are doing

    Michelle

Heythrop is a cut above some of the other Warners. Dinner in their pub was quite nice.

Yes, just had this conversation with my husband, under the circumstances I think we might stick with Princess, we did enjoy our last P&O cruise but it’s too far hard really

As Cruise Lines have until January 2025 to implement SOLAS 13, you may find a lot of changes in the next few months on other cruise lines .

I have never really understood this rule. We needed one to cruise from Vancouver after flying in but not to cruise into Canada the same year.

We got off our Alaska Cruise in Vancouver. The very friendly immigration officer asked " are you going straight to the airport?"...no we are staying overnight and going to the airport tomorrow evening....If you haven't decided on a restaurant there are some good deals in the book over there.

Unless you have been a naughty person who is not eligible for an ESTA,  you will then need to apply for a visa.

If you hold a full British passport you will not need a visa for Canada.

We flew into Calgary for our Rockies tour, onto Vancouver for the Alaska Cruise. We got US and Canadian electronic visas. For the sake of a few quid, not worth taking a chance.

I very much doubt it. The vast majority of passengers will not have given it a moments thought when booking.

We gave it a little bit of thought. We will wait until DW gets her new passport in January.

I can't find the actual intended application form on the net.

    https://etias.com/etias-application

What will I be asked on the ETIAS application form?

As a pre-screening check, the ETIAS online application form will ask for basic personal details to establish your identity.

    This will include:

    • Valid passport / Travel document information
    • Full name
    • Current address
    • Citizenship status
    • Sex
    • Preferred gender
    • Dual citizenship status
    • Email address
    • Telephone number
    • Date of birth
    • Final destination member state
    • Educational background
    • Occupational background
    •

During the ETIAS application or appeal process, you may be asked about your:

    • Criminal history
    • Past incarceration
    • Felon status
    • Past European travel
    • Drug use
    • Health history

The devil will be in the detail. Comparing to the ESTA, that also claims to want to know convictions but the actual form asks if you have ever been arrested.

I wonder if it's impacting advance cruise bookings. The vast majority of P&O cruises stop off somewhere in the EU.

    Where it said

    Sex

    Preferred gender.

Kalos won't be able to resist a funny answer....Skeggy it is then.

My question (in my first post) fell on deaf ears when I asked a poster? 🤫

I had a look on the Etias website. They will ask questions about education and employment status. Skeggy next year then.

I would quite like to know what the questions will be. But being told not to ask will have to do for now. Another forum has a thread called....no questions are stupid. Perhaps they will know.

9265359 has explained very clearly the difference between EES and ETIAS and said that with ETIAS you will have to declare your background, criminal convictions etc. People should stop worrying, we have a clear explanation from a knowledgeable person and should wait until we have a definite start date, in the meantime I have more than enough information thanks to 9265359.

That answered purplemoonlights question didn't it.🤔

Good morning everyone, Kalos my thoughts did not turn to P&O, my phone pinged to tell me a reply had been posted to me by someone called Red Ray (post 52).

zap99, I would be intrigued to know what you dream about? Cruising wise that is of course 😂

Look in again one day. I may tell you.

We are humbled that you sat on your Princess balcony and your thoughts turn to

the P&O cruise boards and ships , hope you have a great time, enjoy your cruise .

We sail on Anthem on the 20th September. Britannia is in Southampton as well. There will be thousands of Britannia guests sitting on their balconies looking at our giant plastic giraffe.  Green with envy they will be. We will be just dreaming about Cobh.

We were awarded a very considerably amount of fcc following major alterations on our 2024 world cruise ,after attempting to use it as a deposit on a 2025 cruise and been informed this was not allowed and a cash/card deposit was required with the fcc been taken off the balance, we wrote it off, used our money elsewhere and booked with Fred, Celebrity and Azamara .In reality this refusal by P and O to use the fcc as a deposit has made up our minds that our future cruising lies elsewhere and of course lost the company thousands, although it isn't the only reason  We have two future pre  booked cruises on Aurora but have decided that our time on P and O  after those will be our last,  we have enjoyed our time cruising with them but it has become so evident of penny pinching and poor ship maintenance  and unaltering itineraries that the time has come to move away from them. The deal with Celebrity and Azamara is only slightly more expensive but having cruised with them before are well aware of the superior experience , Fred will be a new experience but the ability to board a ship nearer home is another major plus. Am well aware this is a P and O board but keep an eye on all relevant boards to us  ( personal opinion of course)

P&O will probably get by without you. We are with Anthem next, then Britannia and then RC again. Good to try different experiences.

Of course. I cruised with p&o during the good times for many years and I check in with the board now and then to see if there is any improvement, apparently not.

I post this comment from my balcony on the Caribbean Princess in Cobh. It’s heaven on earth and I’m living the dream. 😀👍

Look in again one day. I must admit sitting on a balcony in Cobh isn't something I often dream about.

    Yes I meant 300mg aspirin.

I take 75mg every day now.

When I had my heart attack I took 3x 300mg before going to A&E.

Beware all of my tests were clear and they were about to send me home until we said my grandfather died of a heart attack aged 50 so they then did a blood test which showed enzymes that indicated a heart attack and I was rushed into cardiac care.

The consultant said the early aspirin possibly saved my life and definitely saved any heart damage when I had my angiogram where they fitted a stent.

I have been taking 75mg a day for about 30 years. No effect on me.
