Thanks for the info! I feel better about it now. We'll take your advice.

Yes, we got a "I wanna go" price that sold out in an hour. In an hour the price had jumped to more than double!

We will be flying into Seatac from Anchorage at 9:30 a.m. and need to get on another plane that leaves at 12:35 p.m. Do you think that is enough time? We're flying in on Alaska and leaving on Southwest. Thanks in advance.

I was wondering if people dress nicer for the evening meal on the land portion of the trip. Do women wear any dresses? Could I get by with just nice tops? Thanks.

We hit rough seas twice on cruises and calm seas on another cruise. On one cruise we hit the tail end of a tropical storm and believe me it was "sit down or fall down" rough. When you are out in the open ocean is where you "might" hit rough sailing...but we've lived to tell about it....and it makes a great story and pictures. If you leave from Vancouver, the sailing is usually smoother.

Thanks in advance. Last time I was in Alaska and went on a whale watching tour....I wore a heavy winter coat that got soaked....and as a result I was freezing.

We'll be on a Y3C and wondered if our OBC can be used to buy excursions for the land portion of the trip. Thanks.

Yes, that is what happened. Right now my TA said I could get a balcony for the same price as an OV...so I took it. When I bought my OV it was the last one on the ship....and I'm not sailing until August!

"Category: V Stateroom: Guarantee "
Here is what it said on our booking confirmation. It looks like a capital V to me! What do you think?

We'll be on the Nieuw Amsterdam and were told we could have a V guarantee cabin with balcony for same price as an oceanview....so we took it. They said it would be a V or better cabin. What is above a V? Do all the Vs, VH, etc come above or under a V? Just wondering what we could end up with. Thanks for any info.

Yes....that is exactly what I was thinking. Thanks.

When on a land/sea cruise....do your onboard credits stop when you get off the ship for the land portion? Or can you still use them on the land portion? Thanks.

I would love some suggestions for great backpacks that used each day while traveling. Thanks.

Just wanted to thank you for your posts!! You helped me more than any other information I've seen. Exactly what I wanted and needed to know. We'll be doing it in Aug. '18.

I would like to know what kind of boots were needed...say for Whitehorse? For panning for gold? Or can you just get by with tennis shoes? Thanks.
-
Hi...from the pictures...it looks like there's only about 2 feet between the bed and wall. Was this a problem for anyone? On other ships our bed was by the window. Thanks.

I think the transfer is free with our fare....what do you think?
-
Thanks...this has been good advice!

In Vancouver we have a transfer from airport to ship...do we have to meet at a certain time? Or do we just use another form of transportation at any time we like?
-
Thanks so much. See you next week!

I got it....no bear spray. I won't be with a guide, but I'll fill a can with rocks and then throw it at the bear. I didn't think the cruise ships would allow it. Thanks. I enjoyed all your great comments.

Just saying...

I've been tracking the Maasdam and every day it has been right on schedule. Then last night it didn't leave Anchorage and according to tracking is still there. Is the tracking wrong, or is there a problem. I'm sort of interested as we're on her next week. Thanks.

We leave for Alaska in one week and will be going on lots of hikes and tours in bear territory. If we buy bear repellent, will we be allowed to take it back on board ship? Or could we turn it in to the "naughty room" when coming back on ship and pick it up again when leaving for another hike? Thanks.
