..if the weather means that the ship cannot tender do Seabourn try ttheir best to find an alternative dock/port or just pur on a seaday?   Azamara have always been efficient in alternative ports ?  Oceania don't appear to find alternatives!

Which ports are tender only? I was on a recent cruise where we did a lot of tenders and one day was touch and go getting ashore although we did manage. It was a small island and as such it would have been impossible to do an alternative stop.

To be on the safe side, get your husband to pack a tie. Doesn't take up much extra room😊.

We use clear tag holders purchased from Amazon.  They easily attached to your luggage

Its ok. Found suitable tags on ebay. No word of Seabourn but says they are suitable for Carnival etc so all good. Only £4.99 so might just about be able to buy a new tie also to go with my dinner suit😂

Looks perfect. I had a look on Amazon and there are loads to choose from but they all say they are ok every cruise company under the sun but no mention of Seabourn. Do you think they are all suitable for every cruise company? Have sailed Seabourn and Celebrity in the past 12 months and don't remember thinking the paper tags were different in size.

  4. How funny this thread is. People pay many thousands for a cruise, extra to ship luggage (which incidentally I hear can just as easily be ‘misplaced’) but baulk at and extra £1/200 for a suit😂.

When the cruise is done its done, but buy a suit and you still have it for the next cruise, wedding, funeral etc.

The tux  now needs to be replaced  (updated) and the business suits have mostly been donated.  He only needs one business suit (and is getting a new one) to wear to funerals and weddings and the occasional setting that would require wearing one.

I know the feeling but my dinner suit still fits and still in good condition so for a two week cruise its coming. The kilt etc is great for weddings but I did have to buy a new ‘funeral’ suit this year. Not sure if I want to get too much wear out of it however😂.

We have a 14 day round trip Caribbean out of Miami coming up in November, the last time we did Caribbean on Seabourn was about 2012 and I think we wore a coat and tie with slacks on formal nights.  Anyways, planning to do same this year (in compliance with posted dress codes).  I can't quite bring myself to wear a tux in the Caribbean plus just one more thing to go wrong if US airlines lose our luggage.  Happy to dress up a little more in a cooler and elegant destination, not a tropical casual destination.

On a fully air conditioned ship I don’t see a tux being a problem. If your luggage goes missing it wont matter what you plan to wear, you wont have anything to wear😵.

I am on the same trip in November. You will easily pick me out. I will be dressed to kill😂.

  7. Is There A Dress Code?

    Attire During the Day:

    • During the daytime, casual, resort-style attire, including shorts and jeans, is welcome in all lounges and dining venues. Swimsuits, brief shorts, cover-ups and exercise attire should be reserved for poolside, on deck or in the spa and fitness center.

In the evening (after 6pm): Elegant Casual. The following is the nightly dress standard for all dining venues:

    • Men: Slacks with a collared dress shirt or sweater; Jacket Optional. Ladies: Slacks / skirt, blouse, pant suit or dress. Elegant jeans are welcome in all dining venues.

    Formal:

Seabourn Odyssey, Seabourn Sojourn, Seabourn Quest, Seabourn Encore, Seabourn Ovation

    • In the Restaurant, Men: Tuxedo, suit or slacks and jacket required. Ladies: evening gown or other formal apparel. Dress in other dining venues is Elegant Casual. Jeans are welcome in all dining venues during the day, but not appropriate in the Restaurant after 6pm.

The itinerary in the preliminary document booklet will inform you of the number of Formal evenings to expect during your voyage. As a rule of thumb, Formal evenings are scheduled as follows:

    • Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit: Zero Formal Evenings

    • Cruises up to 13 days: One Formal evening

    • Cruises of 14 to 20 days: Two Formal evenings

    • Cruises of 21 or more days: Three Formal evenings

(Note: World Cruises, Grand Voyages, Holiday voyages and Crossings may be scheduled differently.)

We were on Ovation this month.  The only bar soap in our bathroom was a small round one probably meant as hand soap.  There were several large Molton Brown bottles of shower gel.  I did bring my own bar soap as I am sometimes allergic to soaps.  I don't recall the brand name of the small round bar of soap.  We did not ask for another bar--but I am assuming you could do that and something else would be available.

It makes sense that they now have pump’s rather than loads of small bottles. You say “several large bottles of shower gel”. I assume you mean a mix of shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body creme?

I would guess the soap was Molten Brown although the suite attendant used to offer a range of other soaps when you arrived on board.

  9. If you book a flight and the price changes do you expect the airline to provide a refund? If you buy a shirt and it then goes on sale do you expect the vendor to provide a refund. Sadly its life. I have won and I have lost, it is what it is. I never ask fellow passengers what they paid in fear I will be disappointed because I am sure if they booked late they will have got a cheaper deal. I also know they have missed out on the months of excitement and anticipation.

You can ask for more but I am sure terms and conditions will say you are entitled to nothing.
Have to say there is very little difference between V1 and V3 but any OBC you can get is better than nothing.

As others have said in future you should book with a TA as you will always get a better deal.

    Enjoy your trip.

  10. Don't tend to do many ship organised trips. Did do some in Russia and Vietnam because it wasn’t so easy to travel solo. Have to say that whilst they were a bit over priced, in the main they were good. Large coaches but only half full so not overloaded and great guides.

Never pay for a trip to a beach!

We don't like buffets while on vacation, so never went to Colonnade.

You missed out not going to Colonnade. It is nothing like the large ship buffet you would have been used to. Self service is not compulsory and waiting staff are happy to get anything you want at breakfast or lunch. Certainly more comfortable than lunch at the Patio. Cant beat sitting at the back of the ship for lunch with a lovely glass of chilled Rose.
