  1. Not familiar with a Port Valet service in FLL, but in Seattle it is FREE! The information that we got from Holland America also states that there will be no overweight baggage fees which takes a little worry out of packing!
  2. Guest services didn’t receive the tags until late evening on the night before disembarkation. When I checked at 9 pm, they had just gotten them and were getting ready to distribute the tags.
  3. Just back from an Alaska cruise on the Eurodam last week and wanted to share our experience with Port Valet. I had preregistered for Port Valet and had an email confirmation prior to our cruise. Early in the week we received a form in our stateroom for the program and I checked at guest services to make sure I didn’t need to fill it out since I already had registered. Was told no other forms were needed and we were good to go. The onboard info said it could be as late as 9 pm on the last night before luggage tags were delivered but we did not receive ours. Checked at GS and was told they hadn’t received any for us. Luckily we were still able to fill out the form right then and they were able to get us the tags by 10:00 pm or so. I was glad we had planned to stay onboard at Victoria otherwise we wouldn’t have discovered the problem until it was too late. I just mention this because waiting to sign up for the program while on the ship might be a better option…
  4. Just returned from a 7 day Alaska cruise on the Eurodam. My husband and I had everything completed and approved for VeriFLY app before we left home. (The health assessment link became active around 6 pm (CDT) on Wednesday for our Saturday embarkation.) The morning of our cruise we logged into the VeriFLY app just to make sure everything was in order and my husband's app showed an error message. No way to make any changes so he tried deleting the app and starting over. As soon as he did he got another message saying "Sorry, information can not be uploaded after 8 am today." (Or something like that.) When we got to the cruise terminal we saw a representative holding a VeriFLY sign at the door and motioning people to go right in. The line for those without VeriFLY snaked back and forth next to the building and way out into the parking lot. We got into that line. 🤕 It took us 30 minutes to get close to the door and an employee was reminding people what documents they needed to have ready. I told her that I had VeriFLY but my husband's app had quit working. She asked if his had been approved before the error message (which it had) and looked up our names on a list. She printed out a small slip of paper and told us to go ahead and go through the VeriFLY line. Once in the building, this allowed us to skip the rest of the regular line that zigzagged back and forth inside and go right to check in. I will note that there was still a bit of a line for everyone in the building to get passports scanned, but the VeriFLY app saved us a lot of waiting.
  5. A little over a month ago we returned from a 22-day cruise to South America and Antarctica on the HAL Zaandam. I have been sorting and editing the thousands of photos we took and am including lots of pictures on the daily blog posts that cover what we did on the trip. The trip began with a few days in Santiago and ended with a post-cruise trip to Iguazu Falls. The whole experience was incredible! It is a time-consuming process to do the posts, but I am methodically working my way through day by day. I have finally begun the part covering Antarctica and thought perhaps there might be some who would enjoy seeing where they plan to visit...or others who would like to relive memories from a former visit.
