I know this is an old thread. But relevant to my curiosity. I will be on the Dawn for my first cruise in May 2018 in suite 12528 -port side and wondered if anyone noticed if the cigarette smoke wafted down onto the balcony? also, since this is the Port side of the pool deck, was the cigarette smoke really noticeable in the corridor leading to the room? Looking forward to a getaway. Thanks!
Most time the A/C is blowing out the door's slowing smoke from entering the corridor.

We just booked the Dawn Bermuda sailing for June 15th. The 15th is our best friend's actual 50th anniversary. We booked so late because we were waiting for our friend to get the ok to go from her oncologist as she has been fighting cancer. We are three couples who have been friends since high school and are all over the moon happy to be able to go to celebrate their anniversary as well as her finishing a bad bout of chemo . We want to have a special dinner the evening of their anniversary which is also the first night of the cruise. What is the best restaurant on the Dawn.? Is there anything special we could request for them? We want to make this truly special.
La Cucina would be my pick.:D
I love La Cucina's new location after dry dock.
The Best Filet Mignon on the ship.;)

Your right, Bamboo is not as good as before, and way more busy. :(

I take Amtrak to NY for a cruise every winter and have never seen Police with machine guns. I worked in Boston and never saw machine guns there either. I try to avoid cities as much as possible.
The more we travel, the more we appreciate living at our quiet little beach in New England. After our Panama Canal Cruise, we were especially happy to be home and look forward to a southern Caribbean cruise next winter.
Try Key West.
They have war planes armed with machine guns & missile's flying over the town.
And maybe a Battleship too.

It’s common sense. If there are workers clad with personal protective equipment, you wouldn’t want to be near them without it.
Make sense to you now? It’s really not that hard.
Have you Ever seen non hazardous" Clean Room " attire?;p

Sailing dawn in June and bought a BD Balcony guarantee and was assigned BC balcony 9030 which looks like a great location. Just got the upgrade bid email and wondering if the mini suite is worth bidding on. Thinking no because I like our current location, but noise doesn’t bother me much and people have said the mini suites are a little bit larger which would be nice. Hmmm.... decisions, decisions. What do you all think?

I would stay with 9030.
I like a roof over a balcony, that some mini's on deck 11 Lack.

Yup. It makes me even more disappointed. I would have never chosen this cabin on 8 even paying for the full amount under normal booking. I totally feel stupid and bamboozled. Just two days before I'd gotten another spammy upgrade lottery email, so figured I had time to re-bid. Nope. Next year I'll know better.
Anyway. It's nice it's aft. And we'll bring earplugs--hopefully my mother will be able to sleep. We've never been to Bermuda, so I have no idea how restless things get on board whist docked. :loudcry:
Your going to love Bermuda.:D
Great cabin whilst underway and daytime.
Just a little thumping a night.

Dockyard / Heritage wharf.
Only Holland America docks in Hamilton.

Word to the wise (not me). I made upgrade bids and sort of forgot about them, and was going to go in and change amounts (lower/delete some of them) this week. I sail April 13 to Bermuda on Dawn.
They just accepted my offer. For an aft suite. The crappy thing is, this was one of the amounts I meant to change to lessen, and now I'm paying way too much (it's not a deal). I can't believe they accepted the bid this early. It's my guess the room wasn't sold and they went in early to the advantage bidders and found a stupid bid (basically mine).
I'm thinking I might try to call and see if there is any chance they will give me another perk for basically paying the same as I would with a new res, but I highly doubt it.
How. Dumb. Am. I.
But I certainly didn't expect they would do the Advantage bid acceptance 2.5 weeks out! Darn it!
I hope it's NOT on deck 8.
