  1. We booked on October 4, the day the change was made. I thought, from what I read here, that we'd qualify for the upgraded buffet. I mentioned it to the guy who assigned the cabana, he said he'd look into it, but never came back to us. Other than mention it on the survey, I did not follow up. My DH and I figured it wasn't snowing and we weren't at work. It wasn't worth getting worked up over. We did enjoy the cabana.

  2. I was on Indy this past week as well. Can't comment on the limes as I didn't need them.

However, don't mean to step on any toes Lady Gamecock, but the outbreak was not "huge". There were less than 75 recorded cases of it on the ship. The crew monitored it and took immediate action and instituted the increased sanitation measures that helped keep it at bay. The efforts were great! I'm happy that our family of 5 were healthy the entire trip.

I was also on this sailing. My daughter is an epidemiologist who was very interested in the updates so I paid fairly close attention.

I agree the crew did a great job of containing the virus. I hadn't heard that there were less than 75 recorded cases. At one point I heard there were over 100. I don't think the Captain ever provided accumulative numbers in his updates.

I did hear that they were consulting with "public health authorities" which I take to mean the CDC and which they are required to do when more than 2% of the passengers/crew become ill. Since they delayed boarding for the next cruise after ours to do a deep cleaning I suspect our ship was at or above that 2% mark. Not huge but of concern. This was the first time I'd encountered the enhanced sanitation measures. Neither my husband nor I became ill and we appreciate the extra attention to cleanliness.

  3. Two of our table mates had intestinal trouble this sailing. One had a one-time upset and never felt ill. She reported her incident and was quarantined in her room for 24 hours after her last symptom. Her husband told us that they were not offering any credit for her missed day, which happened to be our day at Labadee.

The second table mate clearly had the bug that was going around. He spent 6 hours in the bathroom. He never reported it and even went to the windjammer while he was still feeling ill. No wonder Royal has so much trouble containing the outbreaks.

I can't help but wonder if Royal should do more to incentivize people to do the right thing. Eventually, the first table mate received a credit worth one day on a future cruise. Some people are jerks and put the rest of us at risk.

Meanwhile, my hands are chapped from so much washing and I am feeling fine.

  4. My number one, must do stop is Sainte Chapelle. It is a gothic cathedral built by Louis IX in the 13th Century to house what he believed to be the Crown of Thorns. The stained glass is remarkable, it is like being inside a jewel box. If I had to choose between seeing Notre Dame and Sainte Chapelle, I'd go to Sainte Chapelle. We recently spent a week in Paris and saw quite a bit and ended up at Sainte Chapelle twice.
