I keep refreshing his FB page...I have an acct. but never use it, so it’s nice that I can see his stuff without logging on.

yes, he hasn't even mentioned anything mardi gras related today that I've seen.  FRUSTRATINGGGGG

  2. I have been refreshing my email for my "exclusive offer" and stalking the carnival website ALL DAY waiting for this. I bet the announcement happens when I'm commuting home (1 1/2 hours).  that would be my luck

  3. All I remember is on my last cruise, they had it at the exact same time as the Dr Seuss brunch.  it was a bummer, but I sent my hubby on the tour and I took my son to the breakfast.   we all had a great time, but I would have liked for my hubs to be with us as well.

and before anyone gets upset that my hubs went on the tour, instead of spending quality breakfast time with his child,  don't be upset.  he HATES cruising and only does it for me because I love it.  I promised him that I would book him the tour to keep him occupied because he really likes that kind of stuff. it was more important to me that he have a good time than being at breakfast with us.  besides, my mother joined us and my son was 2 1/2 and doesn't remember it anyway.  we'll try again on the next cruise.

  4. ....and i hope that the areas of the ship on the side (if i book a port or starboard room) the areas that sort of stand out away from the ship as opposed to the balconies that are more tucked into the ship, i hope they aren't all suites.   i have 2 cruises booked and they are both suites and my hubby will kill me if i book another suite so soon, and if i'm dead, i cannot cruise.  this is a fact

  5. i can tell from the pic of the new ship that the balconies don't extend all the way to the back, that there is some sort of deck there, but the higher up you are in the ship, the ( i don't know how to explain this in words) better the angle is in viewing the water below.

Indeed, I am very interested in the cabin layouts, and I don't think they will necessarily match the Iona's.

Question for you about your comment on aft balconies:

The aft balconies on Liberty and Sunshine don't look directly down to the water, which gives them a bit more sunlight (which I like).  There is a "slope" down, with a bit of a railing for crew access/cleaning, I guess.  But not like the Horizon, which overlooks the Havana area.

The aft balconies on Elation and similar have a more direct line of sight straight down, but therefore have a bit of an overhang above.

    Which do you prefer?

I've never stayed in an aft, so this would be my first time if i decide to book it and if it's availalbe, so i can't really speak to that.  i guess what i'm talking about is on the horizon.  there is this walkway, kind of crew area just off of the aft balcony, so you don't really have a direct line of sight down to the water.   i'm going to try to attach a pic...The white area is past the railing on the balcony, so you can't look down from your balcony railing and see water. you have to look out to see water.   it might be a minor thing, but i'm used to having balconies that have an unobstructed view straight down to water, even though i've never had an aft, so i don't even really know if that is a thing that is available back there.

eta..this is a pic, i believe while the ship was still being set up, so the balconies extend farther than this, but there is still a strip of white probably 2-3 feet wide at least, maybe more.  so, no direct line of sight. if that makes sense. and these are specifically the aft balconies of the family harbor, which i am hoping to look at.

I believe Carnival (or the press releases) said bookings won't be available immediately (not until late-Jan 2019), but the itineraries and ship details would be released around "now" (mid-Jan).

So I don't expect to see anything in the booking engine, but a press release with itineraries and a web-page with the deck plans are what I'm drooling like Pavlov's dog for...

yes, I've been to the carnival website 100 times today...  (and in the last few days if I'm honest,) just to see what the deck plans might be like.  I'm most likely going to book a family harbor dealio (if there is one) but I want to see ship location.  I've never cruised below deck 6 so if it's on say, deck 2, I don't know what that would be like.  and if there is an aft balcony, but it's not overlooking the water directly (like, if it is overlooking some kind of crew pathway instead of straight down to water) I have zero interest in that.  but I wanna know what is going to be available so I can get my booking finger ready when it's time to pull the trigger.

In my experience, stuff gets posted around 9am to 10am Eastern Time (North America).  So maybe any minute now?

where is the emoji that shows my fingers nervously tapping the table top???

yeah, I think their last big announcement came around 10:00am.  I will be patient...deeeeep  breathsssss..

  9. Y'all, I was hoping they would give us some itineraries today! this wait is terrible!   maybe it's because I've never waited for a new ship itin before, but I really, really, really just want to look at some deck plans.  is that too much to ask? come on Carnival!!!!

  10. Don't get me wrong, i do like the escargot.   I eat them on every cruise, but that being said, if there is a shortage, then there is a shortage.  it will not ruin my cruise, i will not email John Heald and complain that Carnival should have forseen this shortage and started Snail farms years ago in order to maintain their high levels of snail consumption. I won't demand a FREE thing because of the inconvenience.   you KNOW some people will do this.  I'm sure, much like the shrimp cocktail, they will come back eventually.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I imagine they would need some sort of proof of the pregnancy.

I don't know the answer to the questions either, but I have sailed pregnant twice and each time, I have had to tell Carnival that I was with child and provide them with a note from my doctor guaranteeing that  I wasn't over a certain amount of weeks. (I can't remember, maybe 26 weeks?  something like that) so they would know she was pregnant.  if she doesn't fill out that ppwork or tell carnival about the baby, then he would not be able to argue that she's pregnant and can't drink, so it is to his benefit so fill all that out.

  12. hopefully it's ok if I tack another couple of family harbor questions to this thread so I don't need to waste starting a new topic...we are looking at family harbor for a 2020 cruise.  I have never cruised below deck 6.   stupid question but, is there a vast difference in the feeling of being on deck 2 vs. 6 or7, AND.....aft balcony, if we snag one of these, is there any privacy at all? or just anyone can look down and see you back there?

  13. I'm so glad this story had a happy ending!

a few months ago, some friends of mine were vacationing in NYC and they left their camera on the steps of the natural history museum.  someone actually turned it in.  I was able to go to the museum and pick it up for them and then mail it to them a few days later, but it was definitely a miracle in this city that someone didn't steal it.   there are still good people in the world and I'm glad it was good people who found your camera.

I just did this for the first time and the PVP was very grateful that I called and allowed them to finish the booking.

    thanks for letting me know.

it sometimes amazes me the people don't have a problem tipping a luggage handler, a room steward, a waiter, but when you use a PVP (which costs nothing), it confuses people.  I like to help keep them employed and this is the only way I know how to 'tip' them.   I can totally book online for myself, just like I can totally make my own bed, serve myself food, etc.....that could be just me though.   I know they work hard and some people reaaaalllly use the stuffing out of a PVP, calling constantly to update, correct, price drop, etc.   We don't really use them for much unless there is a needful reason to use them, but we do use them .

I also realize that using a PVP isn't always convenient, so in that regard, I totally get NOT wanting to use one.  I don't blame people for not using them.   to each their own. I book my own flights, my own hotel for travel, and I don't use people for that, so I get it.  anyway, thanks for letting me drone on and on....

Just put a 48 hour hold online (see my previous post) and leave a message for your PVP.  She'll call you back before the hold is off.

thanks for this info. I should have used the quote feature previously. I was more speaking to the poster that wanted me to call a big box store.

I will totally put this on a hold and contact my pvp.  we just really like her and want to help her make her quota or whatever it is they do.   I appreciate the follow up.
