  1. Never received a drink or any other comp playing the slots on any Princess ship, but I do have a secret method to winning a fair amount on a consistent basis. It works anywhere, actually. I play a "modest amount" per day, set by myself at the beginning of the cruise. Let's say it's $20.00 per day. When I lose it, I'm done - no playing tomorrow's money tonight. When I win $100 or $150, which can happen occasionally, even playing small amounts per spin, I cash it out, turn it over to my spouse, and it never, ever goes back into a machine. I know that "hot-streak" thinking is not logical (nor is gambling in general - I'm paying for "entertainment"), so I control my impulses, and it often works out.

  2. I guess those extra coffee cards will be useless when the medallions go into use.

Maybe my post should be removed.

I didn't mean to cause an uproar. I do know Disney can keep track of credits for the dining plan on the Magic Bands. Pretty much the same idea.

    Very sorry

  3. Our TA just sent us the information it will be the Emerald Princess.

    Dates: Oct 8 2017 and March 30 2018.

We are going to book March 30th

    Let the planning start!!

TAs often have advance knowledge....he can't book it now, but will book it as soon as the itinerary is released

I'll be contacting TA...did this one before...want to do it again.

  4. I lurked around the 2014 Edition so much that we booked the 2015 cruise. However, we had to cancel just 3hrs prior to boarding. So now we are looking strongly at the 2017 Edition. I remember reading so many of yours and Reba posts that I feel I know the two of you. I plagiarized Reba's 2014 Shutterfly so much to develop the one for 2015.

Reba is such a great sport!

    Just Mike

I see Justin Lawes was still Captain...loved him. His wife and young child were on board, and they were always out and about...even dined at the buffet some evenings.

  5. I can't speak to the adult beverages, but you should definitely go to the fish market and sample some items there. There is also an organic bakery just a little down the hill from the funicular that sold a type of bread that was local to the area - I'm sorry I forget the name, but you will most likely see signs outside the bakeries advertising the bread.

Thanks for the tip about the bakery. We'll check it out when we do our walk about.

I answered my own question about souvenirs by doing a little search. Souvenir finder had some suggestions for just about any location, and I'm going to make some notes on my port guide so I remember what I'm looking for.

  6. We love cruising and will continue to do so, but DH and I have decided that some of our vacations in the future will be spent RV-ing throughout our own beautiful country! We have lived in almost every area of the country over the 40 years we have been married, but there are so many places we have yet to visit, in particular the many National Parks out west. So we bought an RV and so far have enjoyed several month long trips across the USA! To be continued......

    Hi,

Hope you guys are doing well. I know you're planning for your coming TA...I've been in touch with Val, and ran into Kathy and Herb on a recent cruise.

I agree about spending time in the RV....Sam and I got a new, smaller unit and will do more on the road. We've planned a short trip to Florida in the spring, and traveling to Oregon and Washington this summer.

Shogun, You will surely be missed on the Princess Roll Calls, and we wish you good health and great adventures wherever you travel.

  7. What souvenirs do you recommend that we can bring home to keep as a memento. Something that is related to the culture of Norway or Bergen itself.

    Thanks

I intended to ask the same question AND what are local adult beverages we might try. Also, pastry or other food item we shouldn't miss to get a feel for the local flavors.

We'll have only one day when Caribbean Princess docks on September 8th this year.

Great thread...thanks for helping us plan our adventure.

  8. Seriously people,

    Neosporin, Vitamin C, Cold FX?

This is Princess "The Love Boat"

I can get all that stuff any where, or live without it, I just make sure I have an adequate supply of my "little blue pills".

Yes I know TMI, but you asked.

They don't have knees, temporary fillings or the cold med that works for me.

    TMI...I remember it well.

  9. I always pack a dental 1st aid kit along with the regular items, and a complete medical list for DH and me. I list all daily meds, including OTC items, and those we take only as needed. Emergency contact info, DOB, blood type, and carry lists with us.

In an emergency I don't want to have to remember things like knee replacement, latex allergy and such.

I also pack little treats for our servers, room steward and bar tenders.

  10. I'm really enjoying your report and photos. I have to keep looking at ours to compare, and try to recapture the moment. Wish I could post one or two here, but never got that far on CC.

Tendering in Moorea was a real mess for us since weren't Elit, and didn't have a Princess excursion booked. Waited quite a long time, as did others, and missed our private excursion. Ended up with 2 other couples from the planned excursion, and had one of our best snorkeling experiences ever.

We'd go back again in a heartbeat, but too many places on our bucket list.
