  1. I would have to guess that on DCL they they would be voted one of the most popular menu items, along with cheese pizza , and pasta in "butter sauce", at least by those who are too young to order a Corona to wash them down! :D

DCL wins for chicken, but Princess wins for pizza...no contest.

  2. Yep, I'd go with the longer skirt. But as others have said if you do the short skirt, which is totally fine, I'd wear tights instead of the thigh highs as show in the picture. It's a little risqué for Disney I would think. Then again, in October most kids are in school so maybe it wouldn't matter that much.

Disney ships are always packed with children.

I think the longer shirt is more traditional, but either would be cute. The plain tights would be the way to go with the shorter version.

Have fun, we've been on Disney ships twice for Halloween.

  3. Forgot to mention there is a piece called Handkerchief Hem Smocked Waist dress on TravelSmith that is really beautiful. Not sure if it is really the colors you look for, but to my eye it's close. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it would work for me.

  4. Thanks for sharing and using those precious internet minutes to give us a chance to follow along on your adventure.

DH and I were among the lucky cruisers on the Royal last year when she did her 12 day Med/18 day Inaugural Crossing. Sailing in and out of Venice was awesome, but doing it after dark must have been something special.

Hope you'll have a chance to post some photos when you return.

The Easy Vogue pattern 9012 is nice. I will get it when Vogue goes on sale at Joann's. Looks easy to make.

I love Pattern Review. I have to sign in when using the site. But it was free.

I'll be looking for the pattern too...maybe if we meet on a cruise we'll be dressed alike.

I have been able to check a few things on pattern review...not sure why.

I love the dresses another poster made for her DGD's. Remind me of dresses my Maw-Maw made for us. Always made cumberbund type sashes with huge bows that matched our Mom's outfits. You know, pink dresses then added black if she wore black, brown is she wore brown, etc.

You have very lucky little girls in your family.

  6. This sounds like a wonderful cruise! Would you mind my asking which line as I'd like to put it on our bucket list :)

Personally, I love doing the formal nights and would suggest that your husband buy a tux if you have four of them. I did that for my son two years ago before his first junior prom and he's worn it five times already and will wear it twice more on our June cruise. Think I paid about $160 for it at Macy's (it's a name brand and looks nice) with a one day sale and some coupons. You could bring two formal dresses and just wear each twice.

I would think you will need lots of warm weather clothing that can be mixed and matched. And bathing suits and coverups will be on the list as well. You will have the benefit of getting things on sale in July and August and still be ready for your cruise.

    We'll be sailing with Princess.

He only needs a dark suit. Tuxes are now far in the minority.

The best food is always served on formal night - it would be a shame to miss it.

If you are going to Pago Pago, better start practicing to say it like Pan go Pan go. The pronunciation really confused DH. :D[/quote)

He usually does the dark suit, several shirts and ties, but the tux would help a bit.

Wondering if it's warm on the Pacific. Not sure if I need shorts or capris. I know lots of our days will be spent in the water snorkeling and such on excursions and I'll be taking sevaral suits, coverups, and UV protection shirts.

Thanks for the reminder about the pronunciation.

  7. Ladies, I could use some ideas.

DH and I are booked on 28 days RT out of California for Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, etc. mid October to mid November. We will be flying from PA, and we will have access to laundry.

There are 4 formal nights, but won't be doing them unless DH will rent a tux. May just skip the main dining room those nights...lots of folks do.

  8. The pursers desk is often out of quarters...

    Open 24/7...some exceptions...Alaska, for one

Bring your own products if you are particular or don't want to have to check another laundry room if one is out of a product or machines are down...

Happy sailing...laundry day on a ship is better than laundry day at home...

  9. I forgot, the pant I brought and the purse I made with no pattern. Just used a rectangle pieces of fabric. I used two different fabrics for the bag. Quilted the out side piece. The placed the two fabrics together (right sides together to sew) But one thing I did between the two layers of fabric (where the fabric fold over to form the close flap) I put a piece of wood (the width of the bag. the wood was about 10 inches long and 1/4 wide (round). This kept the bag folded nice when closed. With out the wood the bag dipped in the middle, like the back of an old mule.

    Top is 4134 simplicity

    Very clever!

  10.

Thanks...we're doing Hawaii, Tahiti, etc on Princess in the fall, and it would be great. Perhaps I can find a similar pattern. I'll have to start looking.

Hope you found good weather on your return.

  11. This is what I wore for formal night. I made the top and hand bag. The bag does fold right but In the picture I did not place it right on the bed. The top is a lose fit. does not look huge when worn.

Sorry for the big pictures. The make the outfit look huge!

Lovely...will you shaare the pattern numbers?

  12. Unless anyone can report differently, it is my undersatanding that you are unlikely to be upgraded if, on a previous cruise, you have paid for a higher grade than you have booked on this cruise.

The logic of this is, I believe, is that far from seeing upgrading as a reward for regular passengers, they instead see upgrading as a marketing tool and a tempter to introduce folks to a higher grade of cabin in the hope that, next time, they will book and pay for a higher grade.

As someone else has already said, they have this down to a science and there is a lot of logic in this approach, which is why, if you are staying on for the next cruise, on changeover day, you can always get the future cruise manager to show you the higher grade 'cabins'.

DH and I have booked minis, balconys, OV, and interior.

We'd booked a guaranteed inside recently and received our assignment shortly after, and. then, two weeks before sailing we were upgraded to a Caribe balcony.

We were very pleased since we never expected to see it happen. We always just book where we know we'll be comfortable for that particular sailing.

    Is that what you meant?
