  1. We were on the recent Crown transatlantic and the Art Auctions were a nightmare, many flyers, announcements, taking over Explorers Lounge on many days, it was relentless.

And Effy jewelry was being heavily promoted as well, its nice stuff but just way too much promotion, at least they don't take over venues which could otherwise be used for passenger entertainment like the ridiculous art auctions do.

As far as the food was concerned we wondered whether Princess reduced the spend on food for the transatlantic? It certainly seemed like it.

Here is how we deal with Art Auctions......We don't attend them......we dump the flyers in the waste basket, we ignore the announcements for the auctions and we only go to the Explorer's lounge when entertainment that we are interested in is advertised.

No one has ever pressured us to do anything on the ships we have sailed.

  2. I had not noticed you on the roll call. We will have lots of nice folks on board. It should be a great cruise :)

We are traveling with 6 friends and have made excursion decisions as a group. We would have considered the roll call if we were on our own.:)

  3. Larger balconies on the newer ships. We would love to cruise on one of the newer ships. However, we spend a great amount of time on our balcony and hate the idea of such a cramped space. Love the Caribe balconies on the Grand Class ships.

Good news! You can cruise the newer ships. They do have larger balconies mid ship, forward and aft facing on all decks. Check the deck plans for their location.

  4. Thanks to the poster that posted the new coffee menu. I have a question about the chilled coffees.

I always ordered the frozen mocha (frappe), but I don't see it on this new menu. Can anyone tell me if they still make it?

  5. Keeping this topic current will go a long way in protecting our planet's water.

The stiff fine Princess received will be food for thought for other cruise lines and the shipping industry as a whole. Princess is not the only company that dumps waste into the waters of earth. If you think you shouldn't sail Princess because of this disregard for our environment, then you will have a problem finding another line that hasn't done the same.

    Kudos to the whistleblower

  6. OK the promenade deck of the Royal doesn't go around but they do have a nice sitting area which is underutilized most of the time. The most I've even seen sitting there might be 10 or 12 at once. I don't know why but people seem to avoid it.

And some people don't know it exists or how to find it.:D shsh.....

  7. Yes I do know about the earlier posts from over 4 years ago.

Princess stated they where adding a Walk around on Promenade Deck Regal Princess.

Looking at that deck I notice they did but when it comes to the aft section the most spectacular area the wake is blocked due to

two large suites taking up the whole aft of the ship:eek::eek:

Actually, you can sit in teak loungers and watch the wake on the promenade deck on the Regal and Royal. We have.

  8. You certainly sound like a cheerleader there, my privacy concern is Princess having my data, its oppressive and smacks too much of Big Brother watching me.[/quote]

You mean you didn't know" Big Brother" has been watching you for years?

There is no privacy anywhere. Cameras are everywhere and Information about your likes and dislikes are recorded wherever you go on the internet.

Watch the ads on the sites you visit, like Facebook for instance, and notice they are for things you have shopped for or from sites you have visited.

The data Princess collects on the Medallion won't make much of a difference.

Expressing a positive opinion on the Princess threads is not "cheerleading" anymore than expressing a negative opinion is "griping".

Everyone is entitled to their opinion without name calling. :)

  9. my wife and I just came back from a cruise on regal and were really surprised at the way people dressed on the cruise. we have been reading how casual things are getting but on the 2 formal nights we saw more guys wearing tuxes and coats and ties and woman wearing cocktail type dresses than weve seen recently on other cruises. even on the other nights there were quite a few guys with sport coats and woman wearing dresses. on the formal nights there were a few who went to the buffet instead and decided to just stay in their shorts which is fine if that's what they like. everyone has a choice which is great. I will say one thing for those who are debating which way to go on the formal nights. I think at the end of the night you will wish you did the dress up thing. its just a nice experience.

    I agree! :D

  10. Perhaps you should consider whether you are drawn to each cruise by the ship experience or the itinerary. :)

Both are similar in price so that should not be a problem. One is longer with more ports. This could swing your vote to the Crown. However, if you are curious about the Anthem, go for it. From all your posts that I have followed here, the ship is your draw and would most likely fulfill your cruising pleasure.

    :D

I also attended another musical performance in the Princess Theater called "Bravo". It was hands down the best I have ever seen on a Princess ship. It was music (some singing over track) and orchestra- with a combination of show tunes and popular opera arias. They brought on a mezzo-soprano from the Philippines who was amazing. Her rendition of the the aria from the Marriage of Figaro was stunning. Like jaw-dropping stunning. The only weird thing was they sang the aria from Carmen in French. If you get a chance- do it. Seriously, one of the finest hours I have spent on board.

The book is The Heart is the Size of a Fist.

My birthday was everything I wanted it to be and thank you for all of the warm wishes.

    More later!

I so agree that Bravo is well done and my favorite also. We experienced the show on the Regal.

Carmen is supposed to be performed in French as it is an opera written by French compozer Bizet. :)

  12. Your mother could have enjoyed sitting on the promenade deck in a full teak lounger. Yes there is a wide deck aft on the sides of the ship on the promenade deck.

I also agree with another comment of all the places to receive special coffees on both ships.
