We have heard a few stories. One couple went on a tour, got Covid a day or so later and everyone on the tour bus had to get tested. Not sure of how it all ended. Also on our last sailing the Capt announced we had a case of Covid. It was the 10th night of a 12 night cruise, we were at sea heading back to Ft Lauderdale. Never heard the rest of the story. So yes Covid happens!

Oh, I didn't mean could one get Covid. Of course it happens. I was questioning the statement that every B2B guest that had been on the same excursion had to disembark at the end of their first cruise even if testing negative. I have not heard of that happening. I do realize everyone would be tested at that point.

But this was very bad news for anyone on the bus that was on the first leg of a B2B.  Even though you test negative you are not allowed to continue on the B2B because you have been in close contact with someone that has tested positive for Covid.  B2B passengers may be wise to avoid Celebrity excursions on the first leg of a B2B.

Did not think of this. Did this actually happen to some? Can you direct us to more information?

My question was, for a TA who doesn't have this access now, where would they start to get access?  And you may not know that.  I suppose a TA would know how to reach their IT department.

Any legitimate TA should know how this works. TAs can only access bookings belonging to their agency of record. Some things do require a phone call.

You were going to argue with me after I already posted that I did the same thing as you and looked at a couple Apex sailings and verified that Sunset Veranda was classified higher than IV. Okay… 🙄🙄

This is why it's confusing. When cabins are classified and ranked for upgrade purposes it isn't the same as ranking by offered prices. Often a "higher" category may be less expensive than a "lower" one. Sunset verandahs are a prime example. The ranking they use is the same as agents have when looking at categories in Cruising Power. On there you have the Porthole View then Sunset and then Infinite Veranda. (Going up) Bases on availability, I've seen regular Oceanview rooms be more than balconies.

Ugh.  I take back what I said.  No improvement with Celebrity's online site.  Will have to give them a call to see if they can improve on this.  $3430 (not $3319 as I recalled) with United, $3425 with Celebrity.  Identical flights.

Is the Celebrity one refundable and United's just changeable? I'm on my phone in bright sunlight so can't see details very well.

Call Celebrity air directly. I’ll never book on line again. I knew the flights I wanted & called, booked the flights with seats I wanted. I did pay now (American won’t let you pick seats till ticketed). The price dropped 2 days later, called back & received the price drop to my credit card within 20 minutes. I’d much rather talk to a person

I booked flight on AA prior to ticketing just this month. I upgraded some selections and when the flights changed and I cancelled I got refunded for upgrades within 24 hours. You just never know how things are going to happen right now.

We have friends who have been trying to get the reduced airfare rate for a price drop on their flight, they keep getting turned down.  Their flight has gone from $145 down to $12.00 one way, as they continue to be told its for new bookings only, even though we were able to get the reduced airfare.   They are booked directly with Celebrity and we are with a TA

    $12 for air?!?!?! 😳

  8. One piece of our luggage was nowhere to be found in the terminal after we disembarked in Quebec. After searching for an hour and filing a claim,  it finally was returned by someone that realized it wasn't their's when they got to the airport.

The claims person said it happens more than you would think. They would have shipped to me if it was returned after our flight.

    Good luck

I have read where others disagree about this, but it is my opinion that this message indicates that your reservation is not (and will never be) eligible for RU.  I have never gotten this message and then, later, been able to bid on a RU.  Maybe others have been able to go back, at a later time, and bid, but that has never happened for me.

Why wouldn't your reservation be eligible for a RU ?  I have no idea !  Not all reservations are, for whatever reason.  While this reason does not apply in my case, sometimes the Travel Agent you use can be the problem.  A few of the big box agencies (Costco, for one) do not participate in Royal UP so if you are booked through one of those agencies you will never be able to bid on a RU.

I got the same message on my last two for several days prior to getting an email invite to bid.

I guess because I haven't heard of anyone else getting a call from Royal Caribbean about their card and the number was in Oregon somewhere.  Then I got worried that there was a problem with our cards so I called them back.  I sat on hold for a while and finally when I got to talk to a live person, she had idea why I was calling.  Strange.

Royal does have a large call center in Oregon.

We were upgraded from a balcony to a JS on our cruise on Odyssey that sails tomorrow. We submitted the maximum bid. According to our FB page, several others got upgraded to a JS and they all bid the maximum. Obviously this is just one cruise with a small sample size, but it appears you needed to submit a maximum bid to get upgraded.

Do you mind sharing some of the numbers. Mainly from balcony to JS or GS?

We booked b2b specifically so that we don’t have to move after the first one. Besides that, you just got used to the surroundings after 7days!

If you really don't want to chance moving, you should probably skip the Royal Up this time.

    Thanks for your reply.

No the TA gave no indication that this couldn’t be done. I should know better after all the cruises I’ve done ( hanging head in shame) - I guess I wasn’t thinking straight and my roomie wanted the refund 💰!

However, to confuse matters further; today I get a new invoice from RCI confirming the new cabin number and also showing a significant price drop….!! More than I had actually calculated….. so my money is either being held by RCI or by my TA! Let’s see what happens now.
I’ve sent my original RCI issued invoice and the new one to the TA so she knows that I know there’s been a drop ….

If you got a new invoice from Royal I would assume that the TA got the additional price drop for you and had the invoice sent directly to you. At least in the US the invoice doesn't normally go to the guest unless the TA requests it.
