  1. Bob: Yes, the food taste even better than it looks and Uniworld takes wonderful care of you. Mention something and it's done. You'll have a wonderful trip.
  2. My wife and I are taking two Uniworld cruises back to back. We just started our Milan to Venice trip. I'm doing a daily blog for anyone interested: https://davejetton.blogspot.com/ These will be our fourth and fifth Uniworld cruises and I plan to review them when we get home.
  3. Call the Trip Insurance Store and discuss with them. They have at least one company that allows purchase 24 hours before final trip payment.
  4. Doing the Nile with Uniworld in January this year was fantastic. You'll love it.
  5. Yes although Uniworld treats them as two individual cruises.
  6. Doing two with Uniworld this year. Budapest to Bucharest, flying to Milan and Milan to Venice.
  7. We were there in January, 2018 and had perfect weather. Sunny in the high 70's, low 80's during the day and in the 60's at night. We were told the January is best for weather but it is also the lowest river level. The low water level had no impact on our cruise.
  8. We were at Keukenhof with Uniworld in April, 2017. They offered two options for Keukenhof: a half-day or a full-day visit. We did the full day and were happy we did. Keukenhof is huge and by spending the full day (about 5 hours) we were able to take our time and see everything. Don't be dismayed by the huge crowds when you arrive. Once you're in, people spread out and there were many areas with very few people. You'll have a wonderful time.
  9. This was our third cruise with American Queen line and enjoyed it. My review can be found at https://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/getreviews.cfm?action=ship&ShipID=763 and my blog of the cruise can be found at http://djetton.blogspot.com/. Have a wonderful trip.
  10. I know your question refers to transportation to Versailles but let me provide some additional information. When we visited we pre-purchased a guided tour ticket on their web site http://en.chateauversailles.fr/plan-your-visit/tickets-and-prices?public=10&visite-tid=2. This worked out great because upon your arrival you directly to the guided tours waiting area, avoiding the crowds waiting to enter the palace. We had a wonderful English-speaking guide and saw areas that are normally closed to the public. When our tour ended, we were free to roam the rest of the palace and/or the gardens. A guided tour ticket is 10 Euros in addition to the palace admission. I would arrive as early in the day as possible and when viewing the gardens, rent a golf cart. The gardens are huge and much more enjoyable from a golf cart. We had lunch in the garden restaurant and it was very enjoyable.
  11. I'm like pinotlover and really don't remember having anything with ice. I'm sure your Egyptologist will be able to advise you regarding the ice aboard ship. We also had one person in our group who got extremely ill but it was the flu.
  12. Mummy tummy is caused by a bacteria unique to Egypt and our U.S. meds are ineffective in treating it. Be very careful and follow the directions of your guide as to what is safe to eat and drink. Plenty of bottled water was supplied for drinking and brushing your teeth. We didn't eat anything from street vendors. The water on the Tosca was filtered but still not drinkable for Westerners. Our guide said that Egyptians are used to the water and therefore immune to mummy tummy. It is not your normal upset stomach.
  13. We did Uniworld in January, 2018 and it was wonderful. Great ship, excellent service and our Egyptologist who was with us the entire trip was A+. From reading recent reviews, it sounds like Uniworld has even improved. I don't think you'll go wrong with Uniworld.
  14. My wife and I are Kaiser members and we followed their recommendations although they didn't recommend Permethrin spray. We took insect repellent but didn't need it in January. It may be needed during the warmer months. Fred III is correct in that "mummy tummy" must be treated with the local remedy which your guide will supply as it's over the counter in Egypt. Luckily we didn't have to use it.
