  1. Be careful of the aft balconies, if the ones you are looking at are one of the two in the middle I would pass on them. They are very small. Balcony is a tad bit bigger but the room is smaller, two people cannot pass walking by each other in the room and the bathrooms are set up differently. I would stick with the mini suite.

  2. If you do self disembarkation (which means you take all your bags off the ship yourself), you can be off by 8:30 at the latest (or at least that was the case this past weekend). We had the salmon color tags and we were off by 9:30 and picked up our luggage. Would have been home by 10 if our ride showed up on time.

  3. Just got off of the Norwegian Dawn's June 13th cruise and I can tell you that the trains would not stop for us even though we were in a designated area for them.

They came by us went down to the other ship turned around and first train was full and second was not and would not stop for us.

Also be aware when they didn't stop we asked the cab drivers to take us further into the dockyard as we have people in their late 70's and 80's who couldn't walk it in that heat and they wouldn't as it wasn't worth the small fare for them. They told us to go to one of the cab drivers on the end as they didn't want to give up their spot. Pity on them as we would have used the same guy for our excursion later that day and the day after. So they lost out on a guaranteed 200.00 fare for two hours of driving.

  4. For those who want to know....

"Elbow Beach has undergone a change in management and we now offer a more private luxury resort experience to our hotel guests with exclusive use of our private beach. Therefore, we will no longer offer day passes or beach passes to cruise passengers or island visitors staying at other locations.

The public side of Elbow Beach is for use by the general public and is accessible via the Tribe Road just west of our hotel only with no concessions for umbrella or beach chair rentals."

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

They are still offering rentals of their Cabanas though as I have one booked while we are there on our cruise in June. The cabanas are spa cabanas and booked through them and they are $495 for up to 6 people for use from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. They include an air conditioned cabana which has fridge, music system, tv, shower, fruit and water and use of pool and beach.

  5. We headed back to the room to take a nap with my son before the Muster Drill.

My Dad was next to a guy in the muster drill that went down to one knee but he figured he had too much to drink. He was the one they took off the boat, so I am guessing he had some medical problems.

I was on the same sailing as you and was standing on the other side of the gentlemen who went down on one knee. We were standing next to his wife (or girlfriend). We figured it was him as we thought we recognized the girl friend getting off the boat and into the ambulance.

Your son Ethan was so cute and remember running into him and you on numerous occasions on the ship and on the last day during embarkation.

  6. I've searched and have not found much. Will their still be tenders that go to Belize city?

Just got back from a cruise that stopped in Belize. The NCL Dawn was at this port stop also. All ships tender into Belize as cruise ships are too big to come into dock at the pier. The tender from you ship could take anywhere from 20 - 30 minutes to get to the pier. It depends on how far out your boat is anchored out and on whether the waters are choppy or not. Some ships end up missing Belize as the water is too rough to tender in.

Once you get on the pier you can pay and take the Calypos train tour that goes into the city and gives you a little tour or do a ship sponsored excursion. I am sure there are cabs outside the entrance area to the port that you could hire. To be on the safe side, sign up for a tour on your ship or one of the tour people that operate inside of the pier.

  7. Just got off the Carnival Legend today (March 9th). Had first to the fun. There was someone as soon as we got through security on the right checking in FTTF people. We were giving Zone 1 boarding passes and were 3rd group on the ship. First group was wedding, second is platinum/diamond members and then us. Were able to go right to our room and drop off our bags we carried on and within less than an hour both our checked bags had arrived. Debarkation was slow as they kept calling for two cabins occupants to head to non-u.s. citizen's immigration so we could clear customs.

We had Zone 1 and were let go right after platinum/diamond and then self-assist. A lot of people were doing self assist.

If you are thinking of buying wine on the Sunday you board, note that most of the stores we tried cannot sell until 11:00 A.M.

  8. I am glad you enjoyed the link. BTW if you get a chance see if the Red Frog on the Legend serves pub grub and also try to keep an ear out for when the casino opens on the first night and report back here. Most of all have a blast and enjoy your cruise.

Just got off the Legend today, we did the March 2 - 9 sailing. This Red Frog does not serve food as the others do on the bigger ships. We asked. There are no kitchen facilities in this bar area. This space was under utilized by passengers. Not a lot of people in there most of the time. Casino on our trip was supposed to open at 5:45 but we had a medical emergency as we were pulling out so we pulled back into the pier and had to wait for a new time slot to open for us to leave Port of Tampa.

  10. Hey everyone! I am curious if you are on a ship that doesn't have an alchemy bar can you still get the drinks? I didn't know if it was specific to that bar or if all of the bartenders are familiar with these recipes. This may sound silly, but I have been reading on here about certain drinks that I am dying to try. I will be on the dream in December and am looking to try all these new drinks. Thanks so much in advance!

Certain drinks carry only ingredients that they have at the Alchemy bar. Not every bar carries the Monin syrups that they use or the fresh ingredients that they do. I am sure they can probably make a Deal Closer (Adult chocolate milk in my opinion).

  11. Sorry I couldn't search for my answer as the search bar is not showing up on my screen. I see Thread tools but the search feature isn't listed. Anyone else having this problem?

Again, sorry if there is a thread but was not able to search first to see.

There was a note on the cruise critic home page that the search feature was down but they were working on it.

  12. Just remember that unlike what you used to do before,,, the Cruise Cash, Cruise Bar, and Cruise Photo are all non-refundable.

So, if you plan on using the Cruise Cash option to pre pay your on boards expenses,,, don't over purchase the Cruise Cash. I use Cruise Cash also, but if I anticipate my total charges to be $500,,,, I only purchase $300 in Cruise Cash.

With Cruise Cash though, if you go to the casino on the last night and download what you have left onto a machine and then cash out you can go to the casino cage and they will give you the money.

  13. Definitely stick with Deck 7 (Empress Deck), you have two decks above you before common areas and another deck below you before common areas. Just try to stay away from the balcony ones near the glass elevators that look down into the atrium. You will hear the the bands and such from there if you get a balcony right off those elevators.

  14. I called E solutions and asked why FTTF was not available for our cruise now and she said when it first was opened they only had 15 FTTF available (she said they start off with 30 normally) amd they closed it after 11 of the FTTF were sold and has not been available since! So she did not have an answer why they closed it so she said to email the question to ships excursions and ask them... I just got a reply that it is closed and probably not open!:(:(

At this time FTTF is not available on your sailing. It is always limited per sailing, but the number of available tickets always varies per sailing.

This close in we can assume that it will not be made available prior to sailing

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance. Thank you for choosing Carnival Cruise Lines.

My cruise is just over 30 days away and they just opened up more FTTF. I would say keep checking back. Try later in the evening. There were none available during the day on mine but at 11:30 p.m. before I went to bed they were there.

  15. Is a passport CARD sufficient for an open looped cruise?

Depends on where the open looped cruise starts and finishes. If it is from one U.S. Port to a different U.S. port (see quote below) than you can use your card. If it starts in a US port but finishes in a foreign port then you need a passport.

"Cruise passengers who are U.S. citizens (USCs) sailing on vessels with voyages that depart from one USA port and return to a DIFFERENT USA port, are sailing on what is known as a "OPEN LOOP" itinerary. US Citizen passengers on OPEN LOOP itineraries must hold a valid passport, passport card, or other specific USG approved card. They will NOT be allowed to embark with a birth certificate and drivers license."

  16. I love the FTTF program too, what I'm curious about is how are you demagnetizing your card? I don't think I've ever done that and that would be a pita.

It is especially a pain when you are at the back or front of the ship and it is 1:00 a.m. and your card doesn't work. I know one time it was a handbag I had it in, turns out there was a magnetic type clasp on one of the pockets and the card came in contact with it.

  17. Was getting ready to call it a night and decided to once again check the excursions for my Carnival Legend Cruise on March 2nd and low and behold there were now FTTF available. So grabbed one of my Christmas gift cards and bought it.

I know some people say they are a waste of money and others love them. I will be very happy to be able to drop off my carry ons as soon as we get there and with two tendering ports, it will be nice to get priority tendering. And since I usually end up de-magnetizing my sign and sail card at least once or twice a cruise, it will be nice to have a priority line at customer service.

Now the question is should I tell my cousin or surprise her when we get to florida.
