  1. Thanks for your comments! We leave on Saturday!

Did you do any excursions? We haven't booked anything. I was kind of waiting on the weather...

We did this cruise 9/16/17, in Boston we did half the Freedom Trail from Quincy Market, as 2 years ago on the Splendor we did the other half. In Portland we walked over one pier to Casco Bay Lines and took the 10am "mailrun" to several Islands. Saw two bald eagles and had free internet. $16pp and were back before 1pm. St. Johns we did local sites as last time walked to Reversing Falls, well more like a creek. In Halifax walked to the Citidal and it is free this year with Canada celebrating it national parks 150 year.

Ship was awesome. Better than usual food, crew was amazing, they made us feel welcome from day one. We had decent weather every day and fog every night. Would love to have stayed another week...enjoy.

  2. I often get our insurance through them, but never filed a claim, my concern would be when they ask for proof of cruise payment. We often use gift cards, future cruise certificates and vouchers toward payment and I'm not sure if USSA considers those types of payments to qualify for reimbursement.

  3. I wish Carnival would just make gratuities a mandatory add on, I'm getting sick and tired of supplementing other peoples cheapness. I think that cruiselines should reduce gratuities fees to $10pp per day, no exceptions, that would offset the avoiders enough to allow the rest of us the financial hit of covering for them. Tip extra where you please.

  4. OP-Well, the easiest way is to make one payment, but you've said that isn't a preference for you due to card limit choices.

Only other ways I know of are to make payment by check (personal, cashier), money order, Western Union or bank wire. All of those are more inconvenient IMO, but it is up to you whether using the credit authorization form or a making single charge are more or less onerous. But those are your options.

I was thinking just mail a personal check, bank check or money order myself.

  5. You MUST print your boarding pass (one for each cruiser- no more family boarding pass) and your luggage tags. However as others have suggested, probably a good idea to also print out the other docs. One thing I did was pre-print and sign the health forms (make sure you date them the day of your cruise) to save time filling it out at the port.

    Not true.

Just save your boarding pass on your device and show.

If you need luggage tags they are provided ship side.

A health form is provided at port to fill out.

  6. I called Carnival yesterday to clear up another matter, but while I had the rep on the phone, I asked her if she knew whether the maitre'd had gotten my email about our special seating request. It's to accommodate my mom's hearing disability. I have always emailed the maitre'd's prior to cruising with my mom, and we have found that they get the emails, because the seating requests have been honored. (BTW Thank you CC for the info on how to email the maitre'd's). The Carnival Rep said "there is NO WAY to reach a maitre'd prior to a cruise. There are NO special email addresses." This is a direct quote. She said that if we had a special request, that we shouldn't have requested a set dining time of 6:00. If we wanted to sit at a table of just the 4 of us, then we should have gotten YTD. Huh? I've never heard this one. I explained that we love have a set dining time, and getting to know our servers. They also get to know us and by night 2, are almost reading our minds. I explained that we also love to tip well. Over and WAY above what the gratuities usually are. Anyway, I realize that the reps don't always know everything, but she spoke with such certainty. Anyone ever heard of this?

I love to tip well too, my tip to you is to get another Carnival rep.

  7. No. It has to show as Carnival Reservations. Fun Shops show as Fun Shops.

I got it added to my 3 cards! Woo hoo! Now where should I go next?!

I was hoping you were still following this post, I was primarily thinking of you when I posted the ability to add the link.

  8. Thank you for the update. I was able to add it to both my and my husband's Hilton AMEX card.

I was reading an article online from Travel & Leisure, it mentioned adding that link for savings for a Princess cruise, although my plan is for Carnival. I figured why not try it, it's been a month. Got lucky and thought I needed to share it here where some folks have saved me lots of money and given me awesome advise.
