  1. For an upcoming trip we leave on Delta. where we were able to select seats on the EZ Air site.  The return is with United, run by Air Canada and could not choose on the EZ Air site.  I called United to get Air Canada's confirmation number, then called Air Canada and choose our seats for that flight.  It is just a bit more  work but the savings are worth it.  I also checked on the original booking and prices had gone down by $800, so I re-booked the same flights and went through the calling again and got the same seat assignments.

  2. We are  platinum on Carnival and have cruised with Princess since 2016.  We love the cruise line plain and simple.  No music blaring on the Lido deck, no crowds shoving everyone and I have not seen an over indulgent drinker.  There is entertainment in the theater in the evening, most bars have music also and Crooners usually has a piano player in the evening that is very entertaining.   The pay restaurants are better than Carnival and the cost is less.  You will  find the ships decorated very different and more relaxing.  We are going on the Regal Princess in January for a week and again in April  for 26 days.   Princess is great and if you are flying try Princess Air.   Enjoy your cruise

I think the daily price is a good deal.  $65 a day pp for Club Class Dining, Specialty restaurant breakfast, one crown dinner, a mini bar set up, an outstanding bathroom and a bigger cabin and balcony looks like a bargain to me.

Absolutely agree with you, as we took the upgrade from a mini without club class dining.  I have paid the same for a balcony stateroom on other cruises of seven  days.   Lots of additional perks and a balcony you cannot beat.  The only way to celebrate my 70th  birthday.

  4. First I would  suggest you visit your "Roll Call" for your cruise.  There may be some folks looking for folks to share a tour` that includes Pompeii.  Being this close and missing the Amalfi Coast would be a shame.  We have visited Pompeii twice and Herculaneum once but have included the Amalfi Coast on the three excursions.  We used "Rome in Limo" tour sharing and it was reasonably priced.  You  can catch a train to Pompeii from Naples which would probably be your most economical method to visit.

  5. From my experience with EZAir I booked flights and put the dates I wanted into the form. In simple words put them against one booking but with the dates you want. So round trip form the date you want to start your first cruise and the return date you want from the second cruise. I used this in Europe and when going back to back on two different cruise lines. This worked fine for us

  6. Just to add my opinion to this discussion I will second that the Vista is way over crowded for the venues they have on board. The MDR is really not very good. I can remember sitting at the bar in the MDR and being completely ignored by the bar tender. The "American Table" menu, is not very good (subjective view) and the tables, sans table cloth, are slippery wet messes (subjective view). The pool decks are a joke and stuffed to the max which does not make for anything near enjoyable. We tried to get into the theater on one occasion but it was beyond full (should have gotten there earlier ?). The only saving grace was our suite in the Havana Section that made the cruise tolerable. When the Vista dock we boarded another ship (Royal Princess) of the same size and found it much more pleasurable. Perhaps we have "Outgrown Carnival" and that's why we haven't been back or the Vista is just a "Sardine Tin" (not my line but I agree).

  7. It never use to be that way. Just within the past couple of years.

RWolver672 you are correct about that. My wife and I noticed this back a couple years ago and did not really enjoy the cruise because of this type of behavior, which was prevalent among the guests. Carnival has decided to follow the route of "Short, Low Cost Cruises" which I believe brings in a lot of younger folks. We have since cruised with Princess, Celebrity and are trying Holland in a few weeks. I won't say I will never again cruise on Carnival but can assure you it will never be a short cruise or on the Vista Class.

  8. We have only done private tours in Athens and would suggest you contact PK Travel. Great prices and wonderful drivers that are very knowledgeable on the sites. One of the great things is the ability to get to the Parthenon before the bus load of people from the ships get there. This alone is a bonus ass the walk up can get very crowed with a couple bus loads of tourists. You will be picked up at the ship and returned on time. Give a quick search on the web for PK Travel.

  9. Perhaps this may help and I am sure many others will chime in. The Colosseum can be very crowded during the summer months along with the Vatican. I would personally book a tour through a private company, we use "Rome in Limo", that will take you from the ship to all the highlights of Rome and will arrange for tickets to these locations. It may seem very expensive at first but if you visit your ship's roll call on CC you may be able to share a tour with others reducing the cost.
