Great company to work with.  Everything was easy to set up and it all went exactly on schedule.  Driver had lots of interesting stories and the vehicle was very comfortable.  I have used them several times.  Always look forward to it.  Hope to use them again.

Which tour company you used for your tours  Grandpaul?

We will be on our first Western Mediterranean cruise in May and have never been to Italy. We are going to book an independent tour for our Naples/Amalfi Coast port.  Our choices are "Naples, Sorrento and Positano" or "Positano, Amalfi and Ravello".  We are not interested in Pompeii and I'm sure we will see plenty of cathedrals elsewhere but, we love scenery and a bit of shopping for locally made goods.  What do you experienced Mediterranean cruisers suggest?

Sorrento and Positano if you want to have a time for shopping and a great lunch overlooking the Amalfi coast 🙂

Probably off topic but providing Paypal details it's pretty safe. Just create new PayPal account without link to funding (CC and/or bank). If funds are received they go to balance and then can transferred for free to "real" account.

Agree, create a new PayPal account and you should be fine.

DO NOT BOOK WITH LIMO IN ROME!

I do not say this lightly.  I have used Claudio Caponera's company in the past - about 15 years ago - and had a good experience.

We booked his company for a tour from Rome to Sienna and Tuscany in October of 2018.  It was supposed to include a "licensed tour guide".  We had a driver, who did not act as a guide. He sat in the car when we were on our own in Sienna.  He did not even provide a map of the town.

We were supposed to "visit a winery for wine tasting and the cellar where wine is aged in oak barrels."  We were taken to a town where there was a store that had samples if you purchased wine.

We were supposed to go to " Pienza, the town famous for Pecorino cheese and wine. Time at your leisure for shopping in the little store, artisan shops and for tasting one of the most famous red wine in Italy, the Brunello '.  The driver got lost, drove in a huge circle and ended up back where we were 45 minutes prior.  No cheese, no shop, no tasting.

When we contacted Claudio he did nothing to apologize, but he did admit that his website was "not well specified."

Not only did this waste $650 (for 4 people), it wasted one of only 3 days we had in that region. A once in a lifetime opportunity ruined

You can see from my profile and past reviews, I am not one to criticize unless there is a very good reason.  Please do not patronize this company.

Sorry to hear you were not satisfied but thanks for sharing your experience 😞

Can anyone recommend a walking tour in Bilbao, or a pintox and tapas walking tour, where you walk and learn about the main sites in Bilbao, then stop at various restaurants for a sampling of local cuisine?  The Best of Basque has a wonderful tour that fit the bill but they are all booked up for the date we wanted.   Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks!

We’ve done 2 tours in Mallorca with Miguel Corral. He was fantastic - so professional and accommodating. A must see in Palma is the cathedral.  It is hust spectacular. He took us to Valdemossa and we had lunch at Michael Douglas’ Casa Norde. Then we went to the Macie Batle Winery. You may not be able to fit that all in but worth whatever you can. I think this is my favorite port.

    Another vote for Miguel

My family and I (party of 6) will be on OASIS this June with a stop in Civitavecchia. We want to book a private tour to Rome to include the Vatican and other others. We want it to include ticket purchase as well as private tour guide at the Vatican and other sites if possible. I have received narrowed down our choice between the two tour companies, RomeinLimo and RomePrivateExcursions? Has anyone used these companies. if so what were pros and cons?

    This might be helpful 🙂

We used Walks of Italy for the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, Forum tour. Our tour

guide was excellent. We also used them for our Vatican tour which was early entry-

    both were skip the line.

This option might work when you are staying in Rome and not on a cruise as they only provide walking tours!

A year ago I booked a room and prepaid (big mistake) for a night at the hotel.  Two day's before we were to leave on a plane I get the dreaded email so many others have gotten: see below

We wanted to be in walking distance to town so we passed on the offer to stay at there other property. Thinking about all the great reviews this hotel had a year ago I felt confident that my money would be refunded. (mistake #2)  Now I have been emailing the hotel for over a month and a half and I still have no refund.  The credit card company can't help because the charges are not within 90 days.  I urge you to read current reviews on other sites and see the posting title BEWARE - Bait and Switch in Civitavecchiaon this site:

BEWARE - Bait and Switch in Civitavecchia  who went through the same thing as I did, but I lost money.  I will update this post if this ever gets resolved. My advice is to stay away from this hotel.

We are writing this message as we are very sorry to inform you that there was an error in our room allocation/reservation system and on 06.10.2018 we are in an overbooking situation.

Please kindly note that we do not have any other rooms available, therefore we offer you the following options:

to cancel your room reservation free of charge as we are not in the conditions to honour the booking.

    Or

to accept the reallocations in Hotel Mercure Sunbay Park ****

We will bring you directly from the new Hotel the day after to go to the port

We apologise for the inconvenience caused and attend your reply in order to find the best solution for your stay,

    Kind regards

    Alessandro Maramici

What are options to see the Anaga Park? We found a bus; however, then I'm afraid the would need transportation around the park to see it. Does the park have a shuttle; I have not found one? Are there any tours available to book ahead of time or at the port? The only tours that I have found are group tours. Our roll call has gotten quiet, and we are just 2. We are a little nervous about renting a car and getting an international driving permit, but we would consider it if that is what others recommend.

    Thanks!
