IThey don't offer the UDP dining package on long voyages like this so I picked a 10 night dining plan. Between a few nights in the MDR and a few nights in the Windjammer the 10 night dining plan was a splurge since I saved quite a bit booking an interior at the last minute.
I had bought two 5 night pkgs but when I saw the 10 night I jumped on it. Much cheaper than the two 5's.

Burial at Sea
Many of the Bella cruisers would meet at the Schooner Bar. One of our gang is Marty @nasa1974.
(Marty is on the left)
One night I noticed Marty was at the bar drinking a bottle of Heineken beer. Standing next to his bottle was a Manhattan cocktail. I asked Marty if he drinks Manhattans and he said no. He told me he got the cocktail in memory of his late wife. Marty shared that Sue would have a Manhattan at least once a cruise to honor Marty’s grandfather who she would share the drink with when they visited. Some nights he would have a glass of wine sitting next to his beer to honor his wife. Marty did this every night.
I asked Marty to tell me about his wife. He went on to tell me that his wife had died of cancer in November of 2021 after a long battle. I asked Marty about meeting her. He told me that they had met on a ski trip and fell instantly in love. They started cruising and they met Cruise Critic friends and fellow Bella Cruisers Joe and Amelia @Cruisingpeople. The couples met on a cruise of the Panama Canal and became close friends. They ended up going on 4 cruises together.
Marty told me he was going to bury Suzanne’s ashes at sea. He went through all the protocols with Royal and got a biodegradable urn for Sue’s ashes. We had set up a time to meet with the officers and do a ceremony on our last sea day.
I asked who was going to attend. He said Joe and Amelia of course since they were good friends. I asked if Linda and I could be there for him and he said yes.
On Day 7 at sea we met the Royal officers who took us to a special spot on ship away from people so Marty could have his personal moment. What happened next was a joyful, emotional moment.
I asked him if it was alright to document the burial at sea for him and his family to have for a memory. Marty also gave his blessing to have this video published so people can see what a burial at sea is like to honor their loved ones. The staff of Royal was so caring and nice. In the end we all cried and embraced. We then went to the schooner bar for a toast to Sue and to order another glass of wine for her. I think Marty will always cherish this moment. I know I did.
Cheers to you Suzanne may you rest in peace.
Greg this is marvelous. I am sure Marty & family appreciate it. So well done, I was in tears at the end.

OK, I am NOT getting off in Costa Maya. That plaza and the Boardwalk are just not big enough for 17,259 people. Want a funnel cake in Coco Cay but not sure about 11,100 people there either.

This is so true. I don’t use a lot of cash anymore but back in the day I’d empty all the coins from my purse prior to going anywhere that had a security checkpoint. The machine can’t see through the density of the coins. Automatic search every time.
Jewelry too. I bring so much, some real, some costume, that they stop me too. Oh and RCL's crystal blocks? I was told by a TSA guy, after I forgot to get it out of the carry on, that it looks like a block of C4. Oh my!

I will be getting a dup of the Adventure in June. I had my cruises all worked out so I didn't get any dups till covid decided to put the kabob on us sailing. Now I just want to be on a ship, so I will go wherever, when ever, and I don't care what ship, so now I will want to start making some trades.
If anyone is interested in an Adventure block, let me know what you would like to get rid of of and we will talk. LOL

I am so excited. I will be on-line at midnight the morning of the 24th to get something booked. Would love to do a b2b if not too expensive. Have some FCC's $'s to use and have already looked at prices of hotels the night before and taxi fares from the airport. I AM GOING CRUISING!

Love this class of ship. I was just on the Serenade in Feb and also on her last Feb too. Deck 4 is fine. That's where I was this last cruise. Actually it's great because you can slip down and be in the Centrum, which is where all the activity is happening, in a couple of seconds. I like being closer to the front elevators because they aren't used as much so you can get an elevator quickly.
The food was good. Didn't eat in the Dining Room much but the food in the specialty restaurants was excellent.
I have yet to get good coffee anywhere on the ship -- any ship! But that is also a matter of taste. Some like it strong, others weak, but I think the room service coffee is the best for my taste. And the Lattes in Latitudes is wonderful!
My favorite thing with RCL is the staff. Very rarely do I run across someone with a bad attitude. They are usually very helpful and do it all with a smile. Not all, but most.

I am also a solo traveler and always get seated by myself, even when I have said I would sit with others. LOL I never make a reservation in advance and I have never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for a table but I am also a late diner and not there during the crush.

Very well said Galveston Cruiser. So sorry to hear about your son and family. Terrible that you can't make it there to help.

WOW - all the hate and the bullying I have read on this thread has been amazing and has broken my heart. I have friends on board and just want to know how everyone was doing. Glad to hear all is well for those on the ship. Prays to the people in TX.

I have over 75k points to use on my RCI credit card. That puts me in the companion sails free to Caribbean itinerary. Is that $1500 limit applied to the sale price being advertised or is it applied to "list" price?
I don't need to sail but I hate to lose the points.
Thanks.
The points/$ will go against the current price being offered on their website. I believe that the points are good for at least 3 years then they start dropping off. I had that happen to a friend of mine so she made a reservation right away. LOL

Just talked with Cuddy last week (Navigator) and 4 months is probably right since he said he would not be there for my April 14th cruise. He did not say who would be taking his place though.

This is my favorite class Greg. I think you and Linda would like her too. Doesn't have as many dining options but the ships are very friendly and intimate. I am looking forward to being back on board her next week.
