We are flying to Seattle from JFK on July 3 for the Encore cruise to Alaska.  Our flight from JFK is at 7;15 am,  but the flight back on July 10 from Seattle to JFK is at 9:35 pm.  So we are trying to figure out what to do for about 8 hours.  Considering getting a hotel room to hang out until the flight home. Flights are very expensive, so you get what you get when you pay $199 per person, instead of $1000 per person!  BTW the airline is Alaska Air.

You will be able to use Port Valet, so you won't have to lug your bags around. https://www.portseattle.org/page/port-valet-enjoy-seattle-luggage-free

Their website even suggests some city tours.

  2. We always tip through our on board account. You tell the front desk the name and the amount and they give you a receipt to give to the recipient. We put it in the envelope with a note of thanks. We prefer this way to minimize the amount of cash we have to bring.

  3. I'm not sure where you saw a picture of the bathroom with just a shower, but when I checked videos they all seemed to have the shower tub combo. Believe me, that will be an issue for you getting in and out of the shower. Other than that it's a really nice stateroom.  You should call  or email the accessdesk@ncl.com

Wow, that wine list really limits the wines by the glass that those with the regular drink package can get without a surcharge.  And I am surprised how few bottles are available for free to those who have paid for the plus package.  Am I reading that right - if the wine doesn’t have a star next to it, you can’t get it by the bottle for free?  Yikes!

Correct, but you do get a discount.

    • For non-select bottles of wine (champagne and sparkling included), “Wine and Spirit Experiences”, tastings, and flights, guest will receive a 40% discount when purchased on board.

  5. Yes, that is exactly what it says:

    Features & highlights

Convenient mid-ship location, some sleep up to five or six. 24-Hour Butler, Concierge Service and personal escort on and off the ship.

I wonder if this also includes dedicated breakfast and lunch like the other Suites on ships where there is a Haven but you are not in the Haven, like the Jade.

I am thinking of booking a 2 bedroom suite on the Jewel, have looked at the floor plan and wonder what they consider as the second bedroom. Can you help me with this.

Norwegian Jewel 2 Bedroom Family Suite Stateroom Details

It is the upper right corner of the floor plan. Just as you enter the suite, you turn right and there is the bathroom and the small bedroom. In this diagram the sofa is not made up as a bed. The room steward will do this for you. I hope this helps!

No. The Hamilton Beach picture above was from a Club Balcony room. Remember, a club balcony is only a balcony room. Not a suite.

For that matter, the Suites "S" on the Joy don't have a butler either.

The Suites "S" on the Joy have the Nespresso.

Do the S Suites on the Joy have breakfast and lunch in a specialty restaurant?

  8. Club Balcony Suites provide additional amenities and privileges at no additional cost. Amenities include the option to pre-book onboard entertainment and dining as early as 125 days prior to sail date, complimentary treats delivered to your stateroom, a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine, and a choice of one valet laundry or pressing service. (from NCL)

These are the old mini-suite re-named with those newer perks. Bon Voyage!
