Our next cruise choices have many repeat ports. However one has Bonaire and a different one has Costa Maya. We haven't been to either. We're trying to decide which cruise to do. Any suggestions?

We're trying to decide between two cruises. One goes to Bonaire and one goes to Costa Maya. We've been to all the other ports on the cruise but not these two. They are on different cruises and we'd like feedback on pros and cons of each if you've visited either of them.

There weren't umbrellas at Columbus Cove. We found plenty of shade under the trees. Chairs are free but they expect a tip.

We were there last week and went to Columbus Cove. There is a bar (and café) right behind it. We didn't wait for anyone to come since we were so close to the bar. We had beer and pina coladas and they were covered with the drink package. The only cash we used was for tips for the musicians and the beach chair guy. This beach is one of the few that isn't rocky.

We were at Red Strip Beach last week. It's a nice beach for cruise passengers only. The bus to get there is a cramped old Asian bus. Chairs are $5. You pay one place and get tickets to give to the chair attendants. Red Stripe Beer is $5. We ordered 2 from a guy who was taking orders but he never brought them so we got our own. The things we didn't like were that there was a DJ playing loud music and we would have rather listened to the waves. Also, there are no palm trees at the beach (if you are into palm trees).

We got a day pass ($75 pp). We wanted to go somewhere with a pool(s). It's an older resort but we had a great time. The beach is beautiful and they had a wonderful buffet for lunch which was included. All the drinks were included as well. Breakfast is also included but we got there too late. Not a lot of umbrellas so pack your sunscreen. There are 2 nice sized pools.

6 of us went in a taxi to Divi ($5 pp). $15 for 2 chairs and umbrella. Water was clear. Best snorkeling on the island. People of all ages.
-
We took a taxi and it was $6 pp each way since there were other people in the cab. They scheduled a pick-up time when they dropped us off.

We ate at Gouverneur de Rouville. I had a fish sandwich. It's on the waterfront overlooking the colorful buildings.

We went there two weeks ago. We paid $99 pp and would do it again. We got day passes and took the water taxi to their private island. We spent the morning at Flamingo Beach. There are about a dozen flamingos roaming around through the area as well as crabs and iguanas. It was a bit rocky at that particular beach. Their other beach is a bit bigger and doesn't have rocks as you enter the water. The liked that beach better because of the sand. Lunch was included. You can get an entrée from the menu and a drink. It's right next to the airport so we enjoyed watching the planes.

sfgoguy- where/when is your cruise starting and ending? We want to go on the Silhouette next. It's the only solstice class ship we haven't been on.

Thanks hoss! That helps. :)

Heaven forbid that one should go on a cruise and not be able to get any limes. Its an absolute disgrace and the Executive Head Chef should be severely chastised.
Back in the day this would never have happened. Soon we will get cruisers coming home after their seven day sojourn with scurvy. I can think of nothing worse than drinking an ice cold Corona in the evening sun with a wedge of lime. Give me strength.
What's wrong with a Corona with a wedge of lime???

If you want a more relaxed and low key place, try The Flamingo Resort in Fort Lauderdale.

Looks like my better half wants to go to Jolly Beach Resort. Any info on it?

Can you get a table for 2 at Qsine?

14 night southern Caribbean Celebrity cruise next month. Ports of call: Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Curacao, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Martin, St. Thomas.
-
Yes they do. It won't be listed in the daily list of activities that they leave on your bed at night but you will see a sign at the "guest relations" desk telling you when and where. Ours were at the molecular bar.

We love Celebrity. We've tried Carnival and Royal Caribbean and we'll be back on Celebrity next month. We love the service, people, and ships on Celebrity.

Thanks for the replies. I think we will head for Valley Church Beach. Then I can tell my mom we went to church.... Cheers!

AQ is the best. We have done 3 cruises in AQ (Equinox, Solstice, Reflection). We thought Reflection was the best in everything. Blu was not crowded on any of the cruises. Go early!
-
People have recommended Valley Church Beach. I think we may skip Coconut Beach Club and head to VCB instead.

Thank you so much for the info. I assume they have chairs and umbrellas to rent?
