The flight I currently have booked is for 11:50 the next morning and I have an airport hotel booked. I’m considering changing the flight to disembarkation day at 11:50 which is a direct flight or I could catch a 2 pm flight and change planes in SFO which would get me home 8 hours later than the 11:50 flight. Decisions decisions.

Any suggestions on the earliest flight I should book after my cruise from SYD for an international flight? Thanks

I have a B2B2B booked for February that was booked 2 years ago. With the increase in Celebrity prices along with the extra for solo travelers I won’t be booking with them again unless I find a good deal. At those prices I would be better off cruising the luxury lines.

Where on the website does it say that? That doesn’t even make sense.
Makes perfect sense if you’re paying the same amount for a cabin as two people. The new solo cabins don’t get double points.
Single Travelers
Guest travelling as a single traveler in a stateroom will earn double the amount of Club Points, based on stateroom category and number of nights sailed. This applies to all sailings on or after July 1, 2014, and to all Captain's Club members including Preview members. Single travelers receive one set of offers per sailing. However, any bonus points that a single traveler qualifies for will not also be doubled. For example, a single traveler that qualifies for a double points promotion will receive an extra set of Club Points for being a single traveler and an extra set of Club points for booking a qualifying sailing for a total of 3x Club Points.

My daughter and I took the grandkids on RCL this summer. We had a letter notarized and signed by their father giving permission for the kids to travel. They did ask for the letter. I guess I should mention that the children carry their father’s last name but although being married for 20 years my daughter carries her maiden name. I don’t know if that matters or not because they didn’t ask about marital status.

I stand corrected, the 3rd party does pick up at the pier, not the ship. More research will be needed to figure out something to do in this port.
Who is the 3rd party company you are researching?

Pre Covid I was able to check in before my roommate who was stuck in traffic. This was in Florida.

Are you thinking of Lee Wachtstetter?
I'm not sure. She stayed on the same ship.
Maybe a Celebrity ship?

I remember reading and seeing a story about a woman who actually lived on a cruise ship permanently. She had the means to do it and the staff treated her better than her family. I saw it on 60 minutes a few years ago. I can't remember which cruise line though but I do recall the story.
I remember the story it was pre Covid. I wonder what happened to her.

We were all pleased. Jared who owns I Wander Tasmania had 2 groups going that day. Both up Mt Wellington and then to different places. We went to 3 wineries I think. everyone had a really good time. Jared was pretty good to deal with.
We were also In Burnie for a day. Had originally planned a small group Chef's Tour but unfortunately the chef got covid several days befand we made the terrible decto take a ships tour (Oceania). How on earth do you bring a big bus of 50 people to a cheese place and forget to tell the place you are coming? That's why we never take ships tours
Thank you for answering. How many were in your group? We overnight in Hobart. I'm going to make contact with the tour operator. Thanks again for your help.

First check your roll call to see what day shore excursions people are organizing.
We shall be in Hobart in January and I have organized a day trip with I Wander Tasmania. We get a tour of Hobart, go up Mt Wellington and get to visit a couple of wineries.
How did your tour turn out? Would you recommend it? @Mrs f.

If they book him in aqua he can eat with the family in aqua. As far as I know he can sleep anywhere he wants as far as in whose cabin.

Does Celebrity ships arrive at Port of Airlie or Shute Harbor?

Thank you both so much for your help and kind words. Really appreciate that.😇
So I think I will wait until final payment - and check in later.
But I am still wondering why the payment date is so different. 75 Days is - in my opinion - very early.
Are you booking from the US or another country?
-
Glad you made it to Miami. I’m very interested in your comparison of the retreat and the YC. I’m a solo cruiser and I spent 2 weeks in the YC on Seashore in September but even though I’m elite plus on Celebrity I’ve never felt the need to book a suite because my balcony was great.

Also, let me add that there are more people of Hispanic background in Texas than there are "Anglo" people: https://www.statista.com/statistics/306044/texas-population-ethnicity-race/. Texas was, in fact, a state in "New Spain" and, later, Mexico for longer than it has been a state in the U.S. I don't think Texans are going to shy away from cruising MSC because they view it as not "American" enough. Frankly, I have never even heard the trope that Texans like Starbucks and Hooters and only eat at chain eateries. That's a completely new one to me! Heck, the most "popular" restaurants where I live are Mexican food restaurants, Seafood Restaurants, and Steakhouses...and I would bet MSC serves at least the later two.
The only "trope" that I think probably is true is that a lot of us who cruise out of Galveston do so because we prefer to drive to the port rather than fly. IAH and DFW are both really busy international airports. The last several times I have flown into or out of IAH, it has been not much fun (especially with construction around the airport) and not worth messing with unless you are flying a distance that is too far to reasonably drive. And that's not because we "love our big trucks" but because it simply isn't fun to deal with flight delays/cancellations or lost luggage when you are supposed to be on vacation.
I was on the MSC Seashore for 14 days in September. I live in Houston. I will say there are some differences. The unisex restrooms for one thing. I was in there yacht club but I was all over the ship. My butler was useless but I must admit I’m not sure what his job was. I’m not the person that needs to be escorted anywhere. The YC lounge was nice but the bartender wasn’t that good. Entertainment on the ship was great. The clientele is very international but so is Houston. Everything considered if they come to Galveston I would cruise with them again.

In a Port of Galveston Board Meeting on November 30th, there was a brief mention of a memorandom of understanding between the port and MSC to discuss development of a fourth cruise terminal. It sounds like MSC has plans to not only come to the Galveston market but potentially own their own building.
I have never been on an MSC cruise but since Galveston is my homeport I might give them a try if this ends up happening. Quite the exciting news that seems to be going under the radar. Of course nothing is confirmed yet but this does show that MSC is planning to enter the market and in a big way.
Do you know What if anything is going on at the old Barbers Cut terminal? NCL was there for a while.

I haven’t cruised NCL since 2019 but I’m a solo cruiser and I always grab 2 drinks and nobody has ever said anything. I guess I should say that they are both for me so I won’t need to get up as often and lose my space.

I tried asking a NCL rep but was told she only had the information I had that was on the website. So, I’m asking here. I’m thinking of booking a 15 night cruise and the free at sea is included. I would need streaming internet.
can the free at sea internet be upgraded or do I pay the full daily rate?
The website says 13 or more days streaming internet comes with a discount. How much is the discount? How much would 15 nights of internet cost? -

Hi all,
My family and I are staying in a Sky Suite on Nov 26 onboard the Apex. Recently, my brother indicated at the last minute that he wanted to join us onboard. We're going to try to get him a spot inside our suite, but our TA is telling us that doing so will be prohibitively expensive for some reason. We're going to speak with him in a few hours to get clarification, but in the meantime, I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to book my brother in an inside or balcony room, and then pay extra to get him access inside the Retreat with us.
I thought I remembered seeing that this was explicitly not possible, but couldn't find a specific post on it. That said, does anyone have experience with a situation like this?
Thanks so much!
I asked the same question last year for some friends who sailed on the Apex. They were in a suite, not sure which one, but had a connecting cabin for their elderly father. They were able to get all the retreat privileges for the father. I don’t know how much but they did pay extra. They did have to book using one credit card and some other stipulations.

I spent 28 days February/March on the Edge in Australia/NZ. Beautiful ship. I was in a solo cabin and took mostly ship tours. They did have daily solo meet ups if you’re interested in meeting other solo travelers. I only managed to attend one. Enjoy Alaska.
