1. Your friend is correct. Lobster is on the menu for one formal night in the MDR which does require formal attire on that evening. Lobster is also offered on the 2nd formal night in Blu if you are staying in an Aquaclass cabin. Blu's dress code is always smart casual or above. (it was excellent!)

Lobster is also offered nightly at the specialty restaurant Murano. There is a $40 pp charge in the specialty restaurants. Dress code is also smart casual or above there.

  2. Yes, the evening menu is posted outside:

I really wouldn't characterize Blu as low-calorie/light dining and I never left feeling hungry! The nice thing is, you have the flexibility to order 2 appetizers if you wish, soup and salad, an entree as an appetizer sized portion, etc. There are plenty of meat and game choices; as I recall only one seafood option per night.

Only you can decide if you like it, and really only by trying it yourself....tastes vary.

  3. Did both Qsine and Tuscan Grille in Eclipse. we were definitely wowed by Qsine and have already booked it for our Summit cruise. Liked TG, especially the decor and service but wasn't as impressed by the overall experience. Good was definitely good (and the creme brûlée was divine) just not as unique.

we ate the other 5 nights in Blu which was fantastic on all counts - food , service and ambiance.

Ai think e could have eaten at Blu happily all 7 nights but we wanted to try some of the specialty restaurants. The dining experrience is a big part if our cruise and we don't mind paying extra for the variety.

  4. Another thing to consider when booking the packages. The first day of the cruise you are only on the ship part of the day. There are glasses of champagne when you board. Your use of the package might be much lower than on following days.

It might be worth considering signing up for the package on board starting the second day.

We got our money's worth on day 1. Started with wine, sparking water and cappucinos to accompany our delicious lunch at Bistro on 5. Martini Bar was open so we stopped there, followed by drinks at Sailaway at Sunset Bar, pre-dinner cocktail, wines with dinner and drinks at show. About the only thing we missed were the a.m. Cappucinos.

  5. I just got off the Summit yesterday. I did not have any alcoholic package and used my SeaPass card every night in the machine to get my "pre-dinner" glass of wine. It was very easy. It just charges your account like any other bar. The only problem is no receipt is given so you just have to watch your account online.

    Hi,

How did you enjoy Summit? Did they serve tapas in Cellarmasters?

  6. Really? I'm a complete beer snob (DH and I take 3-5 beercations a year) and I was impressed by the list. Maybe I'm just used to the utter swill served on Royal Caribbean, aside from when they brewed their own Belgian a few years back. I will happily quaff DFH, Stone or Hitachino rather than Corona or Red Stripe. The pricing is about what I expect on a ship and most of the truly expensive bottles are 750ml.

I suppose they can't please everyone, but they got our booking because of the beer!

DH said the same thing. He would have gone on the cruise anyway but this is a nice bonus for him!

  7.
Get a drink, go around the corner, pass it to husband who takes it to your cabin, go back around the corner and get another. Nothing dishonest, you will be drinking both.
Of course the above could also happen and you have 1 drink each. But most of us are honest.
I do think you will cause suspicion, as the computer system tracks exactly how often you order drinks. One of the priceless benefits of the package IMO, is that it allows you to relax and enjoy a variety of beverages. Your plan sounds rather stressful!
  8. I was just thinking the exact same thing!

We find that the more cruises we take, the less stuff we bring along.

Sorry to disagree, but the power strip is really important, especially if you are trying to charge multiple electronic devices!

  9. The most practical item we bring is a foldable shoe bag, with space for 20 or so pockets

We put all our shoes, sandals etc in this over the door material shoe holder (from the dollar store)

We also throw any other item that can be kept off the floor, especially when you are four in the room.

    Good Luck

Wish I had one of these on our last cruise. The bottom of the closet couldn't hold all my shoes.
