  1. So my daughter and I each have an FCC from a cancelled cruise.

My parents have an FCC from a separate reservation on the same cruise.

We are now considering booking a 2 bedroom GS.

My question is would we be able to pool our FCC's together for the 2BRGS? The price we were quoted for the suite is really good but that's assuming we can divide the fair equally and use the FCC's

If two people have to pay full fare and the other 2 only have to pay 3rd and 4th passenger fares we'd be SOL.

Hoping some fellow Canadians can answer this one.

Called Royal yesterday to L&S a 9 night Exlorer booking to a 9 night Odyssey sailing.  For my Explorer sailing, the gratutities were showing as $167 Cdn pp.  On the Odyssey they are showing as $260 Cdn pp.   The rep on the phone couldn't explain why they are now almost $100 more pp.  I know exchange rate can play a part but $14.50x9=$130.50 US, which based on current exchange rates should be no more than $185 Cdn.  We are not in a suite.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

Ya that doesn't make sense. I'd ask to speak with a supervisor when you call RCI. Either that or don't prepay them.

Were the 4 of you on the same reservation that the FCC's originated from?  That is the key, It has to be like to like, meaning if there was a family of 4 in one cabin on the original reservation and they book a cabin for four on a new reservation they will adjust amounts

They were linked so not technically.

Yes they will balance out the FCC’s because of those inequities as long as everyone with an FCC is on the reservation.

RCI seems to be consistently inconsistent.

Our TA told us that we couldn't apply our FCC to the room. Four of us are currently booked in two GS. We inquired about moving into a 2BR GS. Our FCCs are about 1350 each. That would cover the 4 of us. But due to the breakdown of the pricing for the first 2 pax compared 3 and 4th  Two of us would have to pay extra and 2 of us would have FCC that we wouldn't be able to use.

This is our last day on Oasis.  We have done Allure, Harmony, and symphony, in this class.

love: great staff, great shows, great food, great excursions.

don’t love: MDR is so time consuming. too much waiting.  Technical difficulties in shows.  Computer problems at stores. only one ice show.  No Central Park tour.

Dining in the MDR does not have to take hours. You can ask your wait staff to expedite your meal and you'll be out of there in no time. My daughter has 3 courses in 45 minutes before she goes to Adventure Ocean.

There have been times where I've been in and out of the MDR in an hour in order to get to a show.

All you need to do is tell your wait staff.

It’s very disappointing the way some people dress on formal nights. When you’re sitting at a group table, you should show a little respect for others. While I don’t wear my tux anymore, I wear at least a jacket and tie on formal nights. We request not to be seated at a table with anyone wearing shorts or a t-shirt. They always accommodate us.

Why do you care what other people wear?

I traveled with my daughter last april on Symphony from Miami.   It’s my notional understanding that because we have the same last name and address, I would not need paperwork.  (I was in a group with 3 moms with their minor children, no husbands/dads - none of us needed it)   I believe if you don’t share the same last name - you may need it.

My Daughter and I share a surname. I bring a letter.

It is better to have and not need than the other way around.

How smokey are the casinos, i know there are 'non smoking areas' but i assume these still get a bit smokey as well, and i dont really want to be restricted to just the non smoking areas... for example i like to play tables and i assume they will be in smoking area.

I was able to cope with it in vegas but i assume they are better air conditioned than a cruise ship and all the casinos are massive in vegas with high ceilings etc.

Way too smokey. I can't believe RCI permits smoking in any indoor venue.

True, that is an option, but as stated in the OP, we'd prefer to not have to be sneaky about it.  Who needs the stress of worrying about getting caught doing something wrong while on vacation?  I thought they may be OK with us paying full price separately if we really only bought a few drinks for her.  I could keep all purchases on my card to be on the safe side, but what if anyone took note of the fact that the drinks were given to her, and she was given the exemption?  Not sure they'd go to that amount of trouble, but wanted to at least know how this has worked for others.

They won't care.  You don't even need a medical exemption in order to buy one package.

Once on board, they certainly aren't going to say no to your money.

I was at CocoCay 3 weeks ago.  I still have my receipt for two Margaritas which were $22, to that was added a gratuity of $3.96 AND VAT of 2.64, so tax is being added on drinks at CocoCay.

Did you pay a la carte for these drinks or did you have a package?

  11. My concern with the new age groups is that 12 year olds are at such a different place in their lives than a 6 year old.

A lot of 12 year olds use  bad language and many are exploring and experimenting with their sexuality.

6 year olds are still learning to tie their shoes.

My concern is the supervision levels- are 12 year olds going to be able to mingle freely ( and unsupervised) with 6 year olds? Even if there is adequate supervision things can still happen...

That's assuming the civil case came to a decision before the criminal trial.  I don't think that was ever going to happen.

Civil and criminal matters have a different standard of proof. It is not uncommon for a criminal trial to find someone not guilty and them to be found at fault in the civil proceedings-- the OJ Simpson murder case is a classic example

Hello, I have sailed on the smallest Empress , and the larger Independence. I am considering the mega large Oasis.

Has anyone sailed on both large and small ships to be able to judge if the larger ships are more crowded?

Or, is the Oasis’s square footage proportionately larger to handle the much larger number of passengers ?

My experience was Independence didn't feel more crowded vs. Empress.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated !

I felt significantly more crowed on the Radiance than I did on any Oasis class ship.

The larger ships are designed to effectively manage 6800 passengers. There are many activities going on at once and that spreads the masses out.

Sure, there will be some times where you feel more crowded- muster drills, waiting for an elevator right after a show , the 10$ tshirt sale on the promenade, but those crowds you experience will be no different than those events on any smaller ship.

On my next cruise I become Diamond !!!!!!!!!!!

Every cruise I have done I have purchased the drinks package and had my moneys worth be it $38 Dollars or the Current $57

But now I am Diamond I get 3 free drinks which I feel I lose as I am purchasing the package

Shouldn't there be a discount on the package then?

The drinks in the diamond lounge suck. Just enjoy your package.

  15. YES! For 700PP it is absolutely worth it.

You can easily make up that difference in specialty dining alone. You can get Starbucks delivered. The seats your genie will reserve for you are top notch.

The gratuities for your cabin steward and dining room staff are included.

For 700pp it is a no brainer for me.

Your Genie will move mountains to ensure you have an amazing trip.

Hello everyone we are looking at booking this suite in 2020.  I did some research but haven't found much about this suite.  Has anyone stayed in it, what did you think, is it worth the cost?

    Thank you in advance

    MadamG2U

I had the same suite, only numbered differently on the Harmony.

It was an amazing suite. I loved having a view of the ocean as well as being able to people watch.  The suite itself was amazing.  Star class is everything it's advertised to be, and more.

Let me know if I can help.
