  1. I have to sort of agree with BAX.... If you don't have a medical problem and you don't normally suffer motion sickness, you probably won't get seasick.

It has been my experience that those who think they will get seasick - do.

A person COULD conceivably talk themselves into it, but it's a real condition. Mine occured while I was sleeping..I woke up with it, so coming from a person (me) who USED to say it was all in a person's head....I have changed my tune :) Until you've experienced it, you can't understand :)

  2. For seasickness, my doctor told me about this remedy. He was a Navy corpman before medical school. He says it is all in your head anyway. TAPE AN ASPIRIN IN YOUR BELLY BUTTON!

If it's "all in your head" why did I wake up in the middle of the night with the worse dizzyness and nausea I had ever felt? I was asleep when mine hit. I had never had it before on a ship. I have "land sickness" if I'm coming off a small fishing boat I've been on for a few hours. I'm fine while the boat is rocking, the solid ground is when I start weavin' and getting dizzy :o

  3. Even the Non-Drowsy Bonine....made me drowsy.

    /no help/

    I'm tryin' ginger next time...

Not sure if this has been suggested, but take the medication (bonine, drammamine) on LAND before you leave..then you can see how it affects you. I am sure glad I did this, before my 1st cruise, I took regular Drammamine to see what it would do...I was "OUT" for 6 hours....from 1 pm to 7. Sure glad i didn't wait to take it on the ship LOL I took the non-drowsy on the ship, not bothering to try it out at home because it said "non-drowsy" on it. Big mistake, I spent the afternoon snoozin' on one of the benches on the side of the ship (inside) :o

  4. Rooms Not To Book - NORWEIGAN PEARL:

11524, Penthouse AB - Directly under the free weights and weight machine in the gym. Absolutely disturbing - and until NCL decides to curb the gym's 24 hour operation, they will definitely get more complaints. We also had mini suite 11526 for our daughters, which also heard the noise, but not quite as loud as the master bedroom. Our friends were in 11522 and 11520 and they were also disrupted (these are mini suites).

It took NCL Pearl staff 4 days to close the gym at 10pm. Ridiculous.

Well, now that we're back......I think I heard weights a few times, but it wasn't bad......we were in 11526. I'm very GLAD I didn't hear them very much. that would have been annoying.

  5. No, not on the balcony cabin on Pearl.

there is one outlet - at the desk at the end of cabin next to the sliding balcony doors.Bring the following: one power strip, if using CPAP one 25' extension cord, for the scooter another long extension cord.

I use CPAP and the 25' travels from the outlet to the floor, along the edge of sliding balcony doors to the couch, behind the couch to the bed.

If the scooter is going to sit in the hallway, you'll need 20-25' extension cord. The power strip can stay on the desk so it can have a short cord.

    Happy sailings!

    What's a scooter? LOL What's a power strip? A "surge protector" ? with a few plug-ins?

Never mind, I need to read closer! :D

  6. Yiu were on an Alaskan cruise that started and ended in Seattle and you were told you needed a passport? By whom?

    NCL's website states:

Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda, Alaska, Mexican Riviera, Or Canada & New England Cruises

For closed-loop sailings (cruises that depart from and return to the same U.S. port), you need a valid passport OR proof of citizenship and a valid government-issued photo I.D. (driver's license with a photo) OR any other WHTI compliant document. Proof of Citizenship examples include: an original or state certified copy of a U.S. birth certificate, certificate of U.S. naturalization, original certificate of U.S. citizenship, or a U.S. Consular report of your birth abroad.

I mean, I guess you could just bring a birth certificate, but why not just get a passport? If you fly home....you wouldn't be able to get back in by air without one, right?

    :eek::eek::eek::eek:

That's our room :eek: Hopefully, they will be closing at 10 on OUR cruise. Wow.

  8. That is true provided you are taking a closed loop cruise. If your cruise departs from one US port and ends at another, you definitely will need a passport.

Another thread here says I DON'T need a passport. I'm on the May 9 Alaska cruise which will stop in Victoria Canada....do I, or do I not need a passport. I'm so confused :o:eek: It starts and ends in Seattle.

  9. I have three simply becasue for me two medium pieces and one small piece of luggage is easier to handle than one large and one small piece. One is for my closes, one for my cpap, and one for my laptop. For me my laptop isn't optional. I'm in grad school year round so being able to do my work on my laptop and then hook up to the internet to submit assignments is the only way I get a vacation. I'd rather not check my computer at the pier and I'd rather not pack a large suitcase just to get my clothes and cpap in the same piece of luggage since we drive to the port. If I didn't have to take my computer I'd agree with you.

I bought a BreatheX Journey CPAP just for traveling. It is about 2 pounds...and only takes up a small portion of the small carry-on I take. The hoses and mask take up a little more, then I put a lot of clothes in along with it. A backpack and large suitcase that I check holds the rest. The small CPAP has realllllly made traveling so much easier! It is rechargeable, charging during the day, and just use it at night. No need to find a plug in close to you, as it has been charged during the day. SO MUCH nicer not to drag that heavy CPAP bag :) :) My friend has a backpack with a "slot" for her laptop.

  10. With the new luggage rules, it sounds like they are trying to limit the carrying on of soda and bottled water....so now I need to bring my Brita water pitcher more than ever!! ;)

Drink out of the tap. It was fine when we went *shrug*

I never drank soda. Coffee, water and juice. I was fine ;)

  11. I know some will disagree but I stand by my statement that no one should ever need to pack more than 100 pounds of stuff for a week-long cruise.

Standing next to you in agreement.

I have trouble with ONE large heavy suitcase, a carry-on and a backpack. can't imagine dragging over 200 pounds

  12. Does anyone have ideas to share regarding having 4 people in an inside cabin? Two adults and two teenagers, sailing on the Spirit to Bermuda in July. Travel agent said it would be $1500 more to get another inside room and we are not sure if the extra money would be worth it. Do you really spend that much time in the room other than sleeping and cleaning up? Thank you.

    DO.NOT.DO.IT

    We had 4.

*shudder* We had a balcony room, too. Two twin beds, a couch, and a pulldownoutoftheceiling bed. No.room.for.stuff. :D Tripping over each other and our things. I will never do it again.

  13. My wife and I are planning on a very romantic cruise on the Star in January. We are hoping to take our romance onto the balcony on several occasions. Will we have privacy or should we be more discreet in our romancing?

Please. Now when I take MY cruise, I'll be looking for romantic encounters. Great. Just what i need to see

So..I guess they're more private than I thought...ok, go for it!

  14. oops, sorry, I realized that I replied to a very old post....

I didn't realize there were more recent posts :o

Have you been to LCF lately? Kimmer was found to be a fraud :(

Anyway, I'm doing Atkins, and will stay on it during my cruise :)

Lots of meat choices, I hope! I hope to lose about 35 pounds by march before my cruise.
