  1. I don't know how I got into this thread but because of previous Tim Tam discussions with Pia I noticed them just yesterday at our local Publix. They were located by the nuts and pretzels, not the crackers/cookies. 'Guess I will buy a box the next time I grocery shop! Karen

Thanks for the tip. I know I can get them at Target but usually forget.

  2. This was the greatest beach. It was private, we were the only ones there and it was so much fun. I got a gallon ziplock full of clear, light blue, some pottery pieces, etc. Then to make it weight alot......filled it with pink sand. JUST LOVE IT>

Thank you so much, the directions were perfect. Fortunately I had a back pack so it was a little easier to carry around that much weight.

It was an amazing beach. We were the only ones there also. Glad you got some pretty glass.

  3. Snookymom can you find the pink sand at the Sea Glass Beach near the Dockyards?

Do you put some sand in the vase and then add the Sea Glass? That sounds BEAUTIFUL!!!

I will certainly be on the look out for some of this wonderful glass :)

Yes the pale pink sand is right there where the sea glass is. I didn't think about just bringing a little bit home so all I have is what was on the glass & would have preferred a little more. The glass does look pretty in my vase. Not being a craft person it was the only thing I could figure out to do with it. We loved Bermuda & I hope we get back there one day.

  4. We don't call them cookies here' date=' we call them biscuits, or bicky for short.

You see, when they founded Australia by sending all the convicts over here, the Poms instilled their British ways into us. You lot broke free and changed everything pertaining to Britain and their ways.

Now all the Brits are trying their best to get over here to live..... how times change [/quote']

I'm a cookieholic so I just wanted to make sure you weren't deprived!

  5. LOL' date=' thats Ok Donna, each to their own. I don't know how they remind you of a wafer though.

See I don't like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Reese tried to sell all their products over here years ago and they didn't sell. Peanut butter is a popular spread for sandwiches and toast here but not really used for much else really. Maybe the occasional home made bicky, that's about all.[/quote']

Ok Eileen- What's a bicky? Do you have cookies?

  6. Can you believe we have almost 500 posts over a packaged cookie? I am a cookie snob & until these came along the only cookies we had in the house were homemade.:DMy husband is in shock after 31 yrs we suddenly have packaged cookies. Guess we've joined the rest of the world. This really is fun or I'm easily amused.

  7. This thread really had me laughing the other day and I mentioned the subject to my wife who, like me, had never heard of Tim Tams. 5 minutes ago my wife walks in the door (Harrisburg, PA) with a package of Tim Tams. They are available in our area and made by Pepperidge Farms and do say that they are the most popular cookie in Australia.

    Hank

We really have had a lot of fun with it as well as some great cookies. My problem is I don't just buy 1 bag.

  8. Hey wait a minute MINE are! :D;):D Made with chopped walnuts.

Eileen, Marion you both are just going to have to come visit me. If grocery stores get you excited ;) I'll take you to lots of them. Trust me though you need to find a real bakery to buy good bread. There is no such thing in our grocery stores.

    Barb

We don't have bakeries here. It was a big adjustment when we moved here from Cincinnati where we had a bakery on almost every corner.

  9. OMG' date=' the level of excitement is just going up and up. I just love going into other countries supermarkets and seeing what they eat. Some things horrify me and some things astound me. I think, by what all of you are saying, I am going to be flabbergasted.

That level of choice is not available in Australia. Even in the big cities like Sydney and Melbourne. Costco is opening their first stores in Australia and everyone is amazed at the size of these superstores.

I am going to have a ball in America, probably will need to go back again, Darn!! :D

Emma - I am going to google Whole Foods and Harris Teeter and see if anything comes up.[/quote']

I'm sitting here eating my austrailan strawberry licorice. While you're googling see if you can find Fresh Market you will like it too, but no bargains there.
