  1. Have you looked into this, it leaves from the Money Bar. Small group and an awesome trip for snorkeling.

Yep... We had a blast with Tiger. The reef that he took us to was very nice and then we went to El Cielo, a shallow sand bar and had snacks and drinks. His guacamole is the beast I have eaten.

  2. Doesn't look like much shelf space for toiletries. I will be in an inside with DD and two grandchildren. Is there anywhere to hang an over-door shoe holder  , which I would normally take on cruises to hang over the bathroom door for toiletries as well as other bits n bobs ;)

The mirrors above the sink are a medicine cabinet. We had no problem fitting our toiletries in there. There is a hook on the outside of the shower enclosure. You may be able to hand the show holder there. We've never needed one so I can offer direct experience, however.

Also, I didn't get to see an inside cabin on our cabin crawl, so I'm not sure if it has the same layout or not.

  3. We thought that the UDP was well worth the $119. We never ate in the MDR :) We ate in Cagney's three times, Le Bistro once, La Cucina once and Moderno once. We also ate at the sushi bar and too advantage of the discount (20%, I think).

We thought Cagney's on the Epic was excellent and wished that we had skipped Le Bistro and La Cucina and gone back to Cagney's instead, and we enjoyed Moderno as well.

  4. Just looking into a Caribbean cruise next March.... Is the extra £260 worth it for a balcony.

Only been on an inside or outside with ncl jade before.

    Any help......

    Hannah xx

Is that total for the cabin or per person?

We had a balcony on the Epic in April and enjoyed it, mostly in the mornings while drinking coffee, but the prices for our cruise were very low and I couldn't pass it up. Based on current exchange rates that's around $435 US. To me it wouldn't be worth that much since we don't spend a lot of time in our cabin. I would rather spend the money on the Ultimate Dining Package, which we really enjoyed, or the drink package, depending on your preferences.

  5. Use this LINK:

    http://www.cruisedeckplans.com

The initial website page is free - membership gets you more detailed work and pictures of ships and staterooms plus critic.

A real neat feature not to be missed is the "Drag Decks"

hover mouse on deck click and drag it right or left over another deck to see how everything fits (hint use the elevators for alinement).

You can increase or reduce the size of the decks for a better over all view.

I use this site a lot. There is an option to save deck plans to a .pdf file, which you can then print or put onto your phone or tablet (assuming they support .pdf). You can select 5 decks per page.

  6. I broke the questions out to make them easier to read and then added my answers below...

How do I schedule what day we are to dine at the Italian place?

You can either book in advance on the NCL web site (45 days before your cruise) or you can book on the ship at any restaurant, through your TV or through the iConcierge iPhone and Android app.

What is in the coupon book?

If it is the same one that we got it had some spa discounts and similar things. We didn't find anything in there that we would use.

Do we get that when we board?

It was sent to us via e-mail from our TA, but I think you can algo download it from your reservation on the NCL web site.

Do they have a comedy club like carnival?

No. At least we didn't see one. But, they do have a Second City comedy and improv group on board.

Can you pre book the entertainment?

You can prebook Blue Man Group and Second City on the NCL web site or once on board.

With so many people on board does everyone have a chance to see the entertainment? Or is it first come first serve?

We didn't have any trouble getting reservations. Those with reservations are let in first and then anyone without a reservation is let in if there are seats available.

Does anyone have a link to the daily dinner menus in the main dinning room so you can decide which day to book speciality restaurants.

Sample menus are on the NCL web site. Full menus are posted around here somewhere.

What is the dress code for the main dining room, is there a dress code for the speciality restaurants?

There are two main dining rooms. Taste is casual (shorts for men, etc.) and the Manhattan Room is slightly fancier (no shorts for men). The specialty restaurants are all casual except Le Bistro. Details are on the NCL web site.

I know food is subjective but if you wanted to try 1 or 2 of the speciality dining options which one is a must?

For us, Cagney's was the best. We ate there three times. Then, in order of preference, Moderno, La Cucina and then Le Bistro. We didn't try the Chinese restaurant or Teppanyaki but heard good things about them.

Also, the only thing we pre-booked was Blue Man Group, and we really didn't need to. We booked the specialty restaurants the day of dining and had no trouble getting reservations. We even looked at Teppanyaki and there were openings as long as you were flexible with the time.

  7. For our cruise on the Epic we decided to wait and take our chances on board and had no problems getting into any of the specialty restaurants. We typically made reservations the day before but in most cases there were open tables the whole time we ate. We could have even gotten into Teppanyaki as long as we weren't picky about the night. It was wide open on the Friday and Saturday night of our cruise (Sunday - Sunday).

  8. We had 8114 on the Epic a couple of weeks ago and felt very little motion. One night there was some rocking, but not enough to bother us. Also, 8112 and 8114, and the equivalent starboard side cabins (8113 and 8115, I think) are the first of the covered balconies on Deck 8 and also do not have lifeboats below them.

There are some pictures of 8114 in this set on Flickr...

  9. I haven't ordered anything from the site, but there is a section (under gift cards, I think) that gives you a credit to restaurant.com where you can get restaurant discount certificates. We got one for a restaurant on the strip in Vegas that was pretty good. The restaurants where we live aren't that exciting.

I think you get $25 a month to spend at restaurant.com. - I used it in February and April, forgot in March and it says that credit expired - and I have no idea how many months the discount will be there - but it is something :)

    Thanks...

I saw that. We use Restaurant.com almost every time we go out to eat so we'll definitely use that!

  10. We were at Maya Key a few years ago when it was still private and called Fins and Flippers. At that time a lot of the attractions were not there, but the snorkeling was some of the best I have experienced. You climb down off of the pier into waist deep water and then swim through a winding path in the rocks and then suddenly you see the edge of the reef. If we go back to Roatan I would go back to Maya Key just for the snorkeling, assuming it hasn't changed.

  11. We stayed at the Hilton Condado Village and ate at two places within a 5 minute walk from the hotel that we really enjoyed.

    Ropa Vieja Grill - http://www.ropaviejagrill.com/

Probably the best meal of our stay in San Juan, and the most reasonable. My wife had the shredded beef mofongo and I had the shrimp and garlic mofongo and both were fantastic!

    Casa Lola - http://casalolarestaurant.com/

More expensive than Ropa Vieja Grill, but still reasonable. I had paella and my wife had a braised brisket dish and both were excellent.

  12. We went to the Blue Hole with Peat Taylor Tours and had no issues. Peat met us right outside of the exit from the port area and we boarded his bus there. After the tour they dropped us off at a shopping area where we walked around for a while and then headed to Margaritaville for a drink and then walked back to the port and we weren't approached by anyone at all.

  13. We had a great day with Tiger's Adventures (http://www.tigers-adventures.com/) a couple of weeks ago. He leaves from The Money Bar and goes to a couple of different reefs and then to a shallow sand bar called El Cielo where you can stand in waist deep water and have margaritas (or soft drinks or water) and eat some fantastic guacamole and pico de gallo with little puffer fish swimming by to look for leftovers. The rid back to the Money Bar was a lot of fun with more drinks, music and dancing.

Tiger is a character, but we had a couple of kids on our trip and he was great with them.
