Doubt it because my 1/5 12 day western was also cancelled today.

The 1/17 sailing is still up.

We were also booked for 1/5.  Yep, that 1/17 sailing (i think it's a 9 night) still being available makes me curious about why the 2 12 night sailings are cancelled.  I'm been busy working with my TA to find a replacement.

  2. Go through the terminal building and out the walkway to the taxi and van area. Take a list of the things you want to see and negotiate a deal with one of the tour sellers in that area.

Price should be around 20 to 30 dollars pp if you have enough people to fill a vehicle.

I might have to pick your brain about Cartagena 'Swedish'. We're doing a Panama Canal cruise in November

  3. I also booked a late 2017 cruise...got an email today saying it has been cancelled. No price protection mentioned, no admin fee credit (it was nice of them to give you that :) ), $25 obc if I rebook something else. We're considering our options :( . Oh well, stuff happens-it'll all work out :)

Seems that I'm one of those unfortunately 'lucky' passengers who books so far in advance that the chance for full charter, or itinerary change (without any substitution) is greatly increased.

I've taken a very long break from the Carnival brand but decided earlier this month to book one for later in 2017. Chose a ship I'd not previously been on, and a fun week. Received an e-mail yesterday morning that it was cancelled due to full charter. No big deal, as it's so far in advance . . . but that was #6 for me with Carnival.

The apologetic e-mail was quite clear of what my options were for rebooking, and offered a price protection if booking a similar replacement sailing. I checked online and found an option rather quickly and called to make the swap. I quickly remembered what it was about guest service that had soured me on Carnival earlier, but knew I had to put on my patience pants and deal with it. Replacement was identical in length, different Florida embarkation port, starting one day earlier, same number of stops, comparable class ship, and exact same cabin. It took 45 minutes on the phone (repeatedly placed on hold) for someone to make the decision that is was a near perfect match and would be allowed. Yea! And there would be a very minimal onboard credit applied for the inconvenience. Yea again, as I clearly know they don't have to do squat. But then the 'fun' began.

New invoice showed the revised sailing with price protection, small OBC, and a nice Administrative Fee of $50 for making the change. I'd previously been paid in full, so that was unexpected. Another call, and at the 45 minute mark I asked if I was truly needed to remain on the phone as there were zero questions needed of me while a supervisor checked on this error. The answer: "Yes, because if you hang up we will no longer continue to work on your issue, and will have to take care of the next caller."

    Welcome back to Carnival, Don!

I'm still gonna have a terrific time onboard . . . no doubt. None of those dim bulbs will be on the ship. :)

  4. We used light rail last week. Airport to/from Bell St Pier. Worked well. Fare was $3 pp each way. Took maybe just over an hour (airport to the pier) Make sure you use elevator to get up to the Pike Pl Market on the return trip (or you will die LOL). We used the University St station (as was recommended on the Link Light Rail site...but we're a little familiar with Seattle so I'm sure the Westgate station would also work out just fine

  5. No thank you

I encourage you to inquire why they are showing a route they have no intention on taking. I think bringing this up at the Meet & Greet in front of other cruisers is a great forum. I wish I had been more proactive on it during the cruise but I was giving the explanation I was told the benefit of the doubt (which ended up being incorrect info). That is why I wanted to bring this problem up so others can speak their opinion on this unethical sales tactic. You can share this post with them. It is the advertised route from the NCL website I screen captured just a few days ago:

  6. Booked 2 inside cabins for Dec 11 (when there was a choose 2 option for insides). Thinking of moving to the Jade BUT have been informed that if I move I'll have to go with the current choose one (not a huge deal but somewhat disappointing).

Appears that if I go with one of the 'alternate' dates for the Jewel, I can keep both

Haven't bought air yet, but flying to FL will cost us about $100 pp more (4 of us, plus at least one or two nights in a hotel). I'm gonna have to think about it

  7. A couple months ago we cruised RT SEATTLE. My el cheapo dumb tracfone did OK. We're now in Juneau for a land vaca (wifes HS Reunion) and the tracfone smart phones we have are really nice paperweights for our vacation. Strange as it sounds, not all their phones use the same carriers towers

I suggest if someone is interested in tracfone here that you go to the tracfone website and check the phones they say will work in the zip codes you're interested in (Juneau is 99801). Sure enough-our current phones are not listed. Now I wish I had just bought a cheap burner phone with enuf minutes to get us thru a week (and then chucked the phone)

  8. As opposed to what, a 'bad hot dog' thread LOL

ain't no such thing as a bad hotdog...it's just that some are better than others

I'm sitting in my hotel in Seattle waiting to board the Jewel tomorrow. The crap I put myself thru just to get to the bottom of these NCL rumors---yes, I'm taking one for the team just by cruising ;)

I probably won't be back online for the next 9 or 10 days...SO YOU ALL BEHAVE YOURSELVES!

Ute & Swedish, you're in charge, let me know if anyone gets out of line ;)

  9. I say stuff your bra full of cookies... Or down your pants... Do you think they would search you <giggle> :D

Well if they will, that's another reason to 'stuff' :)

HEY I MIGHT BE OVERWEIGHT, BUT I'M STILL NOT BRA SIZE lol (oh, wait, nevermind)

  10. Travelerblue, that's exactly what we did back when the kids were young. Now it's just 'maybe' an occasional snack

I only learned of this new 'rule' in the last couple days myself (from threads here & other boards)

    Inside of a hacksaw?

Ok, I'll pack a hollowed out hacksaw later ;)

  11. D. W. said that If I get busted she will put money in my canteen fund so I can buy cookie's whilst in the Brig .

In the movies, they sometimes smuggle a hacksaw into the jail inside a cake...I'll bring you a cookie inside a cake. Now if I can just figure out how to get the cake out of the dining room ;)

  12. My husband had the Le Bistro lobter tail on Jewel 2 weeks ago. Good, but small and definitely not worth the $10 surcharge.

Bummer! Especially since I'm boarding the Jewel tomorrow & was looking fwd to ordering it in Le Bistro :(

  13. Some haunt these boards looking for arguments. It didn't used to be that way, but things have changed.

I don't know if the famous HOT DOG thread is still in history, but we had a lot of fun with that, and Monte was the king !!!!!

    Who me? Little 'ol me?

Bill-I sure hope to sail again out of LA in the not to distant future.

  14. Monte --- Enjoy your cruise !!!!! If you need two bags of laundry done, mark them Platinum FREE and you shouldn't have any problem. The Latitudes rep onboard will take care of it if you have a problem.

As far as the HOT DOG problem, That is serious stuff, because I know you will go into withdrawals if you have to go three hours without a HOT DOG !!!!

per the laundry---that's my intent but-IT'S THE LATITUDES REP ON THE JEWEL THAT'S BEEN CAUSING THE PROBLEMS go figure LOL

  15. I started this thread as a lark and was just having fun (notice the ;) in the subject line)

But as often happens on CC, it's starting to turn ugly LOL

It's nothing serious, only a cookie (or other food, it's not like we'll starve onboard)-NOW WHEN I CAN'T BRING MY HOTDOG BACK TO THE CABIN, THEN NCL & I WILL HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM lol
