  1. Been on six cruises. First two were inside. Next three were balcony. I loved balcony so much I thought there was no way I could ever do an inside again...until my last cruise. Went back to an inside to save money and I realized that it didn't matter what kind of cabin I had. What matters to me is the cruise itself.

Like others said, when you have an inside, you leave the cabin more to experience what the ship and scenery have to offer. When I was in a balcony room, I stayed inside our cabin a lot more to enjoy the view from our room. Which meant I didn't enjoy the rest of the ship as much.

Of course it all comes down to personal preference, but you'll probably have just as good of a time, no matter what kind of cabin you have.

ETA: My upcoming cruise is another inside cabin. I feel spoiled no matter what class of room I have.

  2. Thank you for your review. I found your sense of humor a refreshing touch to the info you provided. I laughed out loud several times.

I sailed the Rhapsody in 2011 for a Hawaiian cruise. I absolutely loved the ship and her crew -- back then Rick Sullivan was the captain. He was the most interactive and visible captain on any cruise I've been on. Rhapsody is my favorite ship. Truly a memorable crew.

  3. Booked my first solo on the Independence while I was on the ship. Loved loved loved the crew and the ship and look forward to experiencing it all from a solo perspective. Made it a little easier getting off the ship, knowing I'll be back on her in eight months.

  4. Check out cruiseplum.com

Great site lists solo rates for many cruise lines, and not a TA so I can share. There's another online TA we all use, but rules on this forum prohibit posting its name. Do, try cruiseplum.com

GREAT website...thank you so much for posting!

  5. What a refreshing post after reading so many lackluster trip reports on this board. This is exactly the type of report that I look for...a little light on the details, but heavy on the sarcasm and wit. Brilliant! I know what I'm going to do for the rest of my workday...read the rest of your reports. ;)

Thanks for giving the boards a little jolt with much-needed humor and personality.

  6. AgVball, I think what gets posters stirred up, myself included, is that some of this is common sense, imho. It doesn't matter that someone is new to cruising, but in all honesty, does it take a cruise bulletin board in order for a parent to know that you should not leave an infant alone in a cabin on a cruise ship, or even a hotel, for that matter, just to go out to a bar or lounge? Sorry, but it should be common sense, regardless of whether you're a new cruiser or a veteran.

    I totally agree.
