  1. We've decided not to do an excursion on our upcoming cruise, but we will probably want to get off the ship for a couple of hours and take the bus from the pier into Progreso. Are there any decent restaurants near where the bus drops you off?

There are numerous beach bar type restaurants in town across the bridge and a few bars at the port.

  2. We visited the Reef Club with Carnival in November 2016. The staff was hard working and friendly. If you drink, the waiters were also there to bring you a drink. The pool was great. The beach was not that great but in reality there had just been several days of storms that left the beach covered with seaweed. The water in the Gulf is not that attractive at any time. The food was not very appealing but if you are on a cruise, you will not be that hungry.

I am not sure if I would try to take a taxi since the resort is a good 20 0r 30 miles from the port. We knew that Autoprogreso offered a $35.00 resort day so we asked for and received a price match from Carnival.

I visited last week. The beach was beautiful with no sea weed. Lots of beautiful seashells. I would go back.

  3. Make sure you book the "all inclusive beach break" with Carnival. It's 79. There is another beach break that takes you to Technotel. We used the price match gurantee on Carnival website and only paid 45. IMO, it's worth the 79 just for the drinks and transportation.

Also wanted to mention that our bus was the only people at the entire resort. It was not crowded.

They also have towels for you and free wifi.

  4. I'm just back from Progreso, and I loved the Reef Resort! The beach, grounds, and pool were beautifully maintained and clean. We were waited on hand and foot by servers that had a constant flow of drinks from the open bar. Our cups never went dry. Lunch was just ok, but a decent meal. It included ribs, hot dogs, burger sliders, fajitas, taquitos, empenadas, and nachos. There was also a toppings bar. The only negative I can think of was the bus ride. The tour guide talked constantly round trip. The ride was pretty long, so we only had about 2 hours to shop at the port. There are no taxis at the resort. It's in a very remote area. I would imagine getting private transportation here would be extremely expensive. There were no annoying sales vendors, and no other resorts nearby. It was very secure. I will be glad to answer any questions.

  5. Let me explain a little. I may have used the wrong choice of words.

I'm booking a cruise on another cruise line.. This cruise line allow TA's to give a discounted rate.

Meaning if i see an early saver rate the TA would also quote me the same rate.

With the other cruise like the lowest rate was 3400 and no OBC.

My TA was able to quote me 3100 with no OBC or I can pay 3400 with an OBC of 290.

I'm confused. Is this the same ship or 2 different ships?
