Princess Patter. Daily 4 page newspaper listing ship's events of the day, delivered to the cabin the night before. On medallion ships the events are also available on the medallion app.

On medallion ships, does everyone still get a paper copy delivered to their stateroom?

  2. Given the choice we book select and book via a cruise agent for a little saving on price.  But will book saver if the price is right :classic_biggrin:.

Last year we booked select as we booked back to back cruises and you don't get a discount on back to back saver fares.

Note that on some cruises there aren't any shuttle buses needed or they are free to all.

Never had any problems with cabins provided on saver fares

  3. Back to the original topic

We stay at the New Place, Sherrill Heath every year before our cruise.   A great quiet relaxing start to your holiday but not in Southampton. Great grounds.

Last year their cruise package was £219, which includes parking, bed, breakfast & evening meal & a taxi (not shared) to and from the port. No limit on days for parking, which is great for those of us who like a longer cruise.

It used to be a De Vere  not sure of the company now.  But in our opinion, the food has improved since it changed hands.

One year they couldn't fit us in & we stayed at the Southampton Doubletree/Hilton, again on their cruise package, which was more expensive than New Place.  Nice hotel but no pool , Which New Place has.  Love a swim before breakfast

  4. we drive down from Yorkshire & stay at the New Place, Sherrill Heath on their cruise package.  This year was £219 & includes B&B, a delicious dinner , Taxi to & from port and car parking.  No extra for 28 days parking.  We stay every year.   The 1 year they couldn't fit us in we stayed at the Southampton Doubletree Hilton, again on their cruise package.  Was more expensive than New Place but nearer the port.

From a quick look, it seems a typical P&O IT bodge job! I clicked through to look at Aurora, clicked on Anderson's and got a generic description. Links immediately below go to other bars that are not even available on Aurora. Did the same on the Arcadia page and the photo of the Crows Nest was from Britannia - not Arcadia! I then looked at the Dining Section. Clicked on Cafe Jardin but the page doesn't say which ship. Isn't Cafe Jardin only on Oceana? Confusing enough for me when I know P&O well but hopeless for anyone that doesn't

Its probably a good site to sell cruises from but not for getting decent, targeted information.  I sent feedback - and it wasn't good!

I found the same!! The photos of the spa on Arcadia aren't Arcadia, think they might be Britannia?  On the Oriana page it mentions the market café, click on it & it tells you it's on Britannia.  Why do I need to know this.  |I was looking for what was on Oriana!!

  6. We are visiting La Rochelle on a Sunday in June.  We'd like to visit the Ille de Re where we have holidayed when the children were young.  Ideally we'd like to pick up a car at the port.  P&O are doing a tour, but we'd rather DIY.

I have asked on the French ports page, but didn't see any other posts on La Rochelle.

    Thanks

Hi fue fue , I'm sure there will be some different entertainment and lots of quizzes to join as well , you never know maybe you and Nev will like to do a bit of tango , any way I hope you enjoy it what ever you choose this year

    Sandra

    Hi Sandra

We've decided the tango isn't for us, so have booked to go to Iceland on Oriana instead :classic_biggrin::classic_biggrin:

  8. Being limited when I can take my holidays from work, we are still undecided on this years cruise.  One of the options is a Strictly Come Dancing cruise to the Med.  But we aren't that interested in seeing the Strictly entertainment.  Is there enough of the "other " evening entertainment?  We don't go to Headliners shows either!!  Will there be enough to fill our evenings?

    Thanks

  9. We did upset one lady last year on Arcadia, We went straight to the laundrette on our way to the spa & got in at just 8am, we just walked in. Said lady was on the opposite corridor & that door was locked. When the door was unlocked she was very cross as she had been queueing. She did say this very loudly but we just smiled & continued onto the spa!! Luckily our clothes were still there when we got back!!

  10. I always do laundry on our cruises & definitely will on our next 28 day cruise. On deck on Arcadia, E?? has 2 laundrettes & the far one is usually quieter.

Arcadia definitely has tumbel dryers but they are stacked on top of the washing machines, so I have to take hubby with me to empty it as I can't reach!!!!

The laudrettes are thin & very small on Arcadia & there's no way I'd stay in there whilst our washing is on!!

  11. we too love the hydro pool on Arcadia & will book as soon as we get on ship. The day you get on ship, the spa staff do conducted tours of the spa including the pool. Go on one of these, just turn up at the spa, to see what you think. This is what we did & we are now hooked!!! On sea days we are usually in twice a day.

    I'M just 5ft 1 & definitely don't find it too deep

  12. I take far too much!!;)

    an umbrella

Large supermarket carrier/ bigger plastic holdall/blue Ikea bag to store dirty clothes & to carry them to laundrette

washing tablets - I take the solid ones not the capsules which may burst

    magnets for wall

large towel clips for sun beds

    1st aid kit

    backpack for beach days

lots of books most of which once read I leave onboard

pegs for bathroom line to dry swimming gear

£2 coins to tip room service when they bring our morning coffee(optional)

    box of wine

    water bottle

  13. Last year we stayed at Southampton Doubletree Hilton & paid £236.53 for dinner, bed & breakfast, taxi to & from port & 25 nights parking. Obviously cheaper if you don't want dinner at hotel. We booked through Holiday Extras, if you register on their web site they usually send you an e-mail for 10% discount. Lovely hotel & nice food.

This year we are staying at New Place Hotel, Sherrill Heath (where we usually stay pre-cruise), their cruise package is £219 & we will be having 29 nights parking.
