  1. It didn't specify on the website - just stated that loyalty discount wouldn't be applied to wine packages purchased. We have quite a bit of OBC, so would be looking to purchase on board rather than beforehand, so we shall see what happens when we board on Sunday.

Please can you let us know when you come home? Have a lovely cruise.

  2. Tenerife we did the hop off/on bus & then took a local bus to beach very easy to do.

La Palma nice shopping street, turn left from port & there is a beach within walking distance

Madeira the tobogann is a must but do it DIY, get the cable car up & toboggan down. Get to cable care early before the tours. When you get off the toboggan there are taxi drivers offering to take you back down into town. They tell you it isn't within walking distance but it is & of course all downhill !!!

  3. We had a sheltered balcony on QM transatlantic & never used it because the weather was so bad! I realise that going to the Caribbean the weather will be much better. A couple of days there & back the weather may not be suitable & once in the Caribbean you will be off ship.

We've had several inside cabins on P&O & had great cruises. I'd book the inside & try it. if you hate it, it's only 12 days & don't book another one!

  4. Discounts - no they are not 'discounted'. They MAY offer a glass of fizz on the first two nights on board - that is all.

However, Epicurean is well worth the extra money. It is like an extremely high class restaurant. If it was on land it is likely you would be charged around £80 each - so £30 is extremely good value.

We were on Ventura this year & Epicurean was DEFINATELY discounted!! Only on a couple of nights, obviously quieter nights. A couple of days before staff were walking round the bars offering the discount & they had copies of the menu for you to read.

We had a lovely meal, delicious food & brilliant staff.

  5. One year when we flew out of Heathrow & cruised back to Southampton, We left the car at an Heathrow hotel. We used the taxi firm SMiths for Airports to get us from Southampton back to our car. Would def recommend them.

  6. We've booked saver for Ventura in June. It will be our 4th saver fare & we've not had early sitting yet. Like you laticmon we think 6.30 is too early. We experienced freedom dining for the 1st time last year & my husband loved it!

  7. We stay out of town at the De Vere New Place and it's a brilliant start to your holiday. Last year their cruise package was £199. it included 1 night stay, brilliant dekicious evening meal & great breakfast. Taxi to & from cruise terminal & parking whilst you are away We had 25 nights parking.

  8. Has anyone done the package offered by cruise companies?

Spend 3 nights at Niagara Falls, 2 nights in New York & sail home on Queen Mary (or the trip the opposite way around).

    your thoughts & experiences please.

We are thinking about going in September & it would be our 2nd visit to New York.

    Thanks

  9. We went with P&O in 2012 & they discouraged you from venturing out on your own. We booked a 4x4 jeep tour & had a brill day. Though husband was rather worried re state of the jeeps!!!

There is a small beach next to where ship docks. Port talk told us that there were lots of sand flies. Lots of crew wnet to the beach & 2 of our table mates did. They didn't get bitten

  10. We did Nelsons Dockyard and enjoyed it, largely because when everyone else was queuing for free punch we found a lovely bar with a first floor balcony overlooking the sea, we sat there and I felt for that hour as if I was in paradise.

Do you have to pay to get into Nelson's Dockyard Florry?

  11. We found that parking at Southampton was really expensive (Circa £140 for 14 night) and that the parking attendents tended to play with the controls in the car We now go down the day before and stay in The New Place hotel in Soton. It costs £199 but for that you get dinner bed and breakfast, parking on site for 14 nights and taxi to and from port.

The food at new Place is fabulous.

Another vote for New Place. Just booked the package for our cruise in October. Parking for up to 30days is included in the price.
