  1. Same here Stephen. I have notched up 15 cruises with P&O and never seen a towel animal I am pleased to say. I just don't get it. Yes they are clever but I still don't get it. I just feel the cabin attendants have more than enough to do without an extra task that to a number of pax is pretty pointless.

    Try Princess...........

  2. Thanks for your replies......

I called my agent this morning and he confirmed that it would be £349 each return AND then an additional amount for a specific seat 14 weeks before departure. Also, if I wanted to do it now we may well have to change flights due to availability on the flight we currently have. Economy it is again then!!

Interestingly too, fares have reduced by over £400 each since we booked in June. It is however, not worth cancelling and rebooking as P&O take a 15% deposit which would be totally forfeited and the OBC be reduced from £200pp to £175pp

    Oh well..........

  3. I am sure this has been mentioned previously, but...........

Has anybody booked their seats yet for the coming winter fly cruises from Barbados on Britannia 14 weeks before departure?

What is being charged for specific seats onboard Thomson flights for both Premium and Economy, and what advantages are there for booking Premium seats both at the airport and of course in the air?

Can Economy seats be reserved outbound and Premium inbound or do you have to book the same for both flights?

    Thanks in anticipation...........

  4. Not sure why so many people get worked up about the 787 ? Talk about marketing hype. At the end of the day it's the crew and the service that determine my enjoyment of a flight, not the aircraft manufacturer's marketing budget.

Not sure what you mean by your comment here 'people get worked up about the 787'? It is nothing to do with 'marketing hype' as you put it.

The Thomson 787 aircraft which are still newish as yet, and are state of the art aircraft, whereas the Thomas Cook 767 aircraft are older and can rattle somewhat like a boneshaker from experience, even on a transatlantic Virgin Atlantic scheduled flight, rather than charter to Atlanta from Manchester that even they use!

Yes, service delivery on board is a very important element on any flight, but comfort and air quality is also very important these days.

I am glad we are flying with Thomson rather than Thomas Cook - 'hype' or not!

  5. You can book your flights 14 weeks before but top tiers can book 2 days in advance of that. The cost for thomas Cook flights is £299pp return though as we are only flying one way (translantic cruise) it is £149.You then pay about £20pp to choose a seat.Quite a few people do stay up until midnight but there is no need if you don t mind where you sit

    Thanks Ann - very helpful......

  6. How far in advance of departure - we depart on January 19th - are you able to book these seats and is it a bit of a 'dogfight' as I see staying up until midnight mentioned? Our flights will be with Thomson on a 787 aircraft both ways.

Is the cost for return seats, or is it for each sector ie 2 x single? Does anybody know what the additional cost might be this year?

  7. Well maybe not so much as a security risk ( and by the way it wasn't me that just happened to "pulled it out of the air" as another poster has suggested) That is the rational Cunard/Carnival use.

I guess it could be that their movements/rotations and work schedules are personal to the individual and family members. Why post these 'well in advance' on social media.? Once they are back on duty, then that is a different matter, yes they are expected to interact with the guest.

What's this obsession on all these cruise forums, that some folk have with "whose the Entertainment Manager or who is the Captain of the ship, not only that, but posting many months in advance.

    .

Pure interest to see who is going to be on a future voyage in only a matter of weeks, in our case,to see if 'they' have been on the ship with us in the past! No harm in that surely, is there? Certainly NOT an obsession as you put it...........
  8. Captain Hashmi was Master on QE during the World Cruise last year; he is quite extraordinary in every way-we were extremely fortunate. A very fine man. :)

Is he Master on the QE on this years World Cruise, and if not do you know who is? We are doing the sector from Singapore to Cape Town.

  9. I have just tried unsuccessfully................I was told that the 'loophole' was closed two weeks ago as much was being said on social media. The lady told me she was following instructions and couldn't deviate from that!

Oh well, worth trying for a 20 night voyage..............

  10. Interesting when maritime matters states..."Captain Oprey actually signed off at the end of our crossing but will be returning to the helm of the QM2 when she begins her world cruise next year"

I bumped into him just two hours ago, walking through Lee on the Solent with his wife Cheryl, and he informed me that he was back on board for the Christmas Cruise departing Southampton 15 December.

    You heard it here first.

Does anybody know who will be Captain for the QE World Cruise and his/her Number 2?
