  1. Here comes all the parenting advice.....

Right. I think it's so rude when someone asks a simple question for everyone to add why they don't want to be contacted on a cruise. Why even bother to respond if you can't be helpful or why bother to comment if it's a snarky remark. It really doesn't matter why someone wants to be connected since it's THEIR vacation!!

To answer the question, Facebook messenger is a fantastic way to stay in touch with those at home for WHATEVER REASON you want.

  2. We started booking the spa balcony cabins to get away from the smoke on the regular balconies. After they changed the smoking policy we stayed with the spa balcony cabins because they are so much quieter than the regular cabins. We love the deck 12 spa balcony cabins. Our absolute favorite was 12009 on the Breeze. There are no inside cabins across from that section of balcony cabins, so no slamming doors and no people talking in the short hallway.. Really, there was just absolute peace and quiet. We never used the T Pool or any of the other perks that cruise - just hung out on our balcony.

I was considering a spa balcony but we do not use the spa. I was wondering if 12009 is a covered balcony? I also do not know what the thalassotherapy pool is? My husband loves the spa shower and I love a quiet room so these are our reasons for this type of room. I was thinking of getting one on the 11th floor it the balcony isn't covered though. Thanks for any input you can give!

  3. Following :):) I'm actually following because my son and his family are on this ship and I'm trying to see what's up with the weather! They wanted to take their little ones to St. Maarten so bad. Hopefully St. Kitts won't get cancelled. They want to see monkeys!

  4. You hit a rowdy spring break cruise. Plain and simple. We have been on Glory multiple times in the past and zero issues like these. Where we had our issues was a 4 day Victory cruise - totally adult party ship. People holding hall parties at midnight and our neighbors under "arrest" with the door propped open and security outside one morning. In fact we have observed that the adults are often worse than the kids and even more so on a short cruise.

But as other posters have suggested, some of this you simply have to ignore. The 12-13 yo isn't yours and if he is drinking that is Carnival and his parents problem. Likewise with the woman and child in casino.

Some of it is controlling where you go and when. We almost always eat in MDR to avoid the lido - just don't care for the crowd. And if we go there, it is choice. And I am not going to worry about wet bathing suits etc.

The cigarette overboard is another issue and perhaps rather than worry about the dolphin, it might have been better to explain the fire hazard.

Lastly, on any of the serious issues, did you notify security or customer service? We have had to call a couple of times for various issues and always had a great response.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Amen to all of this! I seriously can't believe the poster was more worried about a dolphin that a fire on the ship :o!! That was the only issue I would have concerned myself with.

  5. We had set dining on both........We loved our Wait staff on both........We tipped extra for Both.........You are so right about something special about having the same people as staff in the MDR.

That said.......We have anytime. Like you...........for more flexibility. Might beg and plead to change it back to Early Dining.

    Thanks again for the review.

I love having the same staff too (unless you get one you aren't thrilled with :(), but we found that you can request the same staff during anytime dining. You might not always get them if you go during the busiest times unless you are will to wait, but we have been very lucky. The upside besides being to go whenever you want is getting a different wait staff if you aren't happy and getting to request where you sit. We were always accommodated when asking to sit by a window.

  6. I enjoy the smell of premium cigars as well as smoking them. Although I haven't indulged myself in years because my wife hates the bad breath but I do enjoy the smell when others are smoking. I do not enjoy the cut rate cigars. Some of those stink to high hell...but I can understand and appreciate that not everyone enjoys being around them.

I hate cigarette smoke but actually like pipes. I don't mind premium cigars either (to an extent haha). Do people even smoke pipes any more?

  7. Panorama (Deck 11) Port Side and Promenade(Deck 5) in various locations.

Carnival has this information on their web site for each and every ship in pdf format. (Carnival/carnival-ship-approved-smoking-areas)

Easy to print your particular ship.

Thanks! Here is the actual info if anyone else needs it:

    Carnival Magic

Cigarette smoking (including electronic cigarettes and personal vaporizers) are permitted in the following areas:

    • Hat Trick Casino: Smoking is permitted while playing at designated slot machines and table games.
    • Hat Trick Casino Bar: Smoking is permitted in designated area.
    • Vibe Nightclub: Smoking is permitted but not on the dance floor.
    • Outdoors: Smoking is permitted in designated areas on Deck 5 (port side, aft, outside the Nightclub) and Deck 11 (starboard side, midship and aft).
    • Note: Cigar and tobacco pipes are only permitted in the above designated outdoor smoking areas on Deck 5 and Deck 11.

  8. You can smoke in the RedFrog Rum bar. That's where cigars HAVE to be smoked. Which is complete crap.

They can't even smoke them outside? That's a bummer. We were planning on spending some time there and I don't mind a cigar or two being smoked at times but don't want to hang out there if everyone smoking cigars is in there. I wish they still had the cigar lounges they used to have so everyone could go there and smoke and the ones that don't want to be around it could stay away. I know this is a very sensitive subject :o.

  9. I would like to know if there is a specific side of Lido you are allowed to smoke as there is on other ships? I would like to here from someone that has actually experienced it on the Magic. I always assumed it was the same on every ship but that is wrong. My husband usually gets to Lido before me and picks a chair and when I get out there, I make him move if he's by the smoking haha. I'm trying to save him the trouble this cruise .

Yes, I have searched the forums and it isn't giving me my answer (not that I should have to explain that to anyone!)

  10. Please allow me to elaborate in the words you want:

It worked. I boarded the ship and paid for my Cheers package with gift cards. They honored the pre purchase price.

Hallelujah! A direct answer to a direct question! Thanks, because I didn't want to read through 5,146,324,426 comments that didn't pertain to the question haha.
