  1. Hi Grop 24...I always book an Aft Suite and then about two weeks before the Cruise I have my TA check to see if there is a better Suite available at a better price. This is about the time they are trying to fill all of the Cabins and some previous Cabins become available! Good Luck! See you on the Jewel!

  2. I did get my Luggage tags from my TA this monday for my Jewel 29th Cruise because I am in a Suite but I am taking the Pearl out of Seattle and am in a Mini Suite and my TA Had to print them. As you know they only send you the Colored tags for A suite. I read recently on the Boards that the Tag color has to do with the Ship?

Renee come over and visit me on the Jewel sept 29th!

  3. I was booked in a Mini Suite on the Pearl and it was a Repo Cruise! On a Friday two weeks before the Cruise at 4;30 the Upsell called my TA and offered me the Two Bedroom Suite for a small price. So two weeks later at 4:30 (my last day at work) the up sell Fairy called my TA and offered me the OS for a small price! Go figure! Wow what a rush! So I always thought they might start with the Mini Suites to fill up the Suites. I have a Cruise Buddy that told me it happened to her twice! And I wouldn't be suprised if they check out the very frequent NCL Cruisers! Good luck!

  4. I have taken the Coast Starlight with a bedroom many times and have found out that they could give me a20 discount on the fare but nothing on the Bedroom which is the expensive part. I love the ride and meeting people! I will be taking it again from LA to Seattle! Looking forward to the Coast Starlight as much as the Jewel!

  5. I have done both. I was in a PH AFT which I also love but I did enjoy the Forward PH! It was a Hoot during sailways because many time the other Forward PH would come out for sail away and it got to be a small club! As far as wind it would be windy gout to sea but you can set in you big lounger up by the Cabin and you would have no wind. I would do it again in a flash!

  6. The Aft Penthouse is my favorite. And I agree with getting Deck 9 or 10. The Wake is wonderful! So peaceful! But sailing out of Port in the Forward Penthouses is awesome! I highly recommend it to anyone going through the Panama Canal. The view of the Canal right in front is very informative! The Balcony was 270 sq feet! Either Cabin makes a great Cruise!

  7. We Cruises out of Bayport Oct 18th. I came from Houston by Super Shuttle so I can't give any info about Parking. I arrived about 10:45 and gave my Luggage to the Porters. Went in and got into the line to go through Security. I only had to wait 15 minutes and the line started moving. I was impressed with how friendly the People handling the Passengers were! I was a Suites Passenger so I can't say what the lines were like. I have been o the Jewel twice and she is a very good Ship to sail on. O"Sheehans was fun and Tsar MDR is a very pretty dining venue. Love LeBistro, Cagneys and enjoyed having Breakfast in the Great Outdoors. Appreciated what NCL has done with the Photo area where they just enter your Cabin Card and it brings up all of the Photos that have been taken while you are on board on a Computer Screen. This way you don't have to look through everyone else's Pictures...Did the "Mayan Ruins" in Cozumel and enjoyed it very much. At the end of the Tour we did go to a Beach and there is great place to eat there with very good food (NCL Tour)..Altum Ha Mayan Ruins in Belize.

  8. I was on the Jewel two weeks ago and I was very impressed with the People.

They were so happy to see Cruisers coming to their Town. It was quite a feeling to see the awe in their faces to see what we looked like and how we dressed. ...The Jewel tenders you in and then when you get to the new Dock there was for us a group playing Drums and the Women dancing! Very colorful. I took the "Historical Trujillo Tram Tour. I found it very interesting because I would really see the Town better than walking around and it was quite cheap. The Town does look very poor but by NCL bringing in Passengers their economy will improve.

  9. The Specialty Restaurants are only open for Dinner. I hear there is a Buffet in LeBistro one day where you can sample food from all of them! I am going to try that on my Oct Jewell Cruise! I have never bought the Dining Package or Drink Package! The Buffet serves a large variety foods for Breakfast. Eggs fixed various ways and on the Ships that have a Great Outdoors they have a small Buffet and cook the Omelets out there. Lots of cereals and fruit. The big Main dining room serves Breakfast and has a good Menu!

  10. I am on the Jewel Oct 18 out of Houston. I only do the NCL Tours because I know NCL will wait for me if anything kept the Tour from getting back on time. I had the NCL Star tell me that! Alot of my fellow Cruisers prefer to book locally but in Trujillo is a new stop and quite small. I have booked the "Trujillo" Historical Tour!

  11. I am on the Jewel out of Houston in Oct 18th. We will be the second Cruise for NCL out of Bayport. A lot of the Cruisers on my Roll call are staying in the Area. This will be my second Cruise on the Jewel and she is a wonderful Ship. The Jewel class is a midsize and just right. Everyone has different experiences but I usually like to get to the Ship by 10:30. I may have to wait a bit but I feel like I am finally going. You will have to go through Security and then you will be directed to the line you will be checking in. Once you are aboard you can go to Deck 12 to the Buffet or down to Deck 6 where you go to the Aft and turn right and there is Tsar the Main Dining room and you can have a quiet Lunch. It is about one before they make the call that the Cabins are ready and you can take you hand Luggage to your Cabin. Then it is fun to get out and explore the Jewel. At about 3:30 they want everybody to go to a designed area for the Boat Drill. You sail away at 4 and they are having a big sailaway bash that is fun with Music and a B B Que. There are many choices as to where to eat..MDR ..Buffet..Specialty Dining..O'Sheehan's...I agree with what has been said about the drink package..If you don't drink a lot you can buy a bottle of wine and if you don't finish it the Waiter will mark it and give you a slip of paper and you can present it to the next Dining Room you go to!

Have a wonderful Cruise and check out some of the Jewel Roll calls. There is a lot to be learned there.

  12. Christoper Elliott saved my Cruise for me a few years ago. I applied for a Passport and after a reasonable amount of time it did not come but my Husband's did. After checking with the Post Office they said they held it for ten days and sent it back. I was desperate and time was getting close so I thought of Christoper Elliott's MSNBC column and I emailed him my problem. This was at a few minutes before five. When I opened up my Computer the next morning he was asking me the information about myself. Thirty minutes later I was contacted by someone in the Passport office telling me he was working on it. Ten Minutes later a Official from the State Dept emailed me telling me they were working on it. within 15 minutes the Man from the Passport Office emailed me that my Passport was being overnighted and would arrive at my home in the morning. The State Department emailed me again telling me it was on its way. I emailed Christoper Elliott and he asked me to tell him the Minute it arrived and I did the next day. This Man became my Hero!
