  1. Sandy...What a wonderful Review! You always take the best Pictures!!! I enjoyed looking at everything. I will be on her for the second time in October out of Houston. In 2015 they are moving the Jewel to San Pedro for the winter Mexican Riviera Cruise.....so you were not happy with B&L at Moderno? I was afraid of that. Cagney's was always a wonderful experience! It was special! Thank you for sharing all of this with us!

  2. I much prefer taking the Train. I can't help you with the East Coast but I have taken the "Coast Starlight" quite a few times to Seattle to go on a NCL Cruise. We always get a Bedroom and make it a big part of the Vacation. I always meet other Cruisers and some going to the same NCL Ship. It is fun to meet every one. The Cascades Train to Vancouver is a Beautiful trip and as mentioned before you don't stop for Customs as you will in a Car which takes at least an hour. Have Cruised with a Couple that took the "Cascades" from Vancouver WA to Vancouver BC and it went well. I am taking the "Sunset Limited to Houston to take the Jewel to the Western Caribbean. One thing I have noticed on the last few trips to a Cruise is that Amtrak is not letting Passengers get off the Train and walk around and because of this we have been on time...Enjoy your

    Cruise!

  3. I had Monica last September and it was her first Cruise on the Pearl. We were in an Aft Suite and she was very nice to us. She personaly escorted DH and I off the Pearl instead of waiting for others. She went out of her way to invite us to a Tour of the Bridge. When I have been in the Owners Suite I was not given more attention. Perhaps she just has bad days because a fellow Cruise Buddy had her on the Sun and they were not impressed but they were just on the Pearl in a Balcony and were afraid they would not make their Plane Flight and they found her and she escorted them off. Pretty nice Huh!

  4. Sandy..I am really enjoy hearing about your Cruise. It is a shame they could not finish every thing that needed to be done in Dry dock. Loved reading the Daily and noticed that they had a few places to eat that I have never heard of on the Jewel( the last time 2012) Talpan Bistro and Maxims Steak House. They were in the Freestyle Daily. Both had a cover charge. Isn't Cagney's still there?

  5. So sorry this happened to you. What a way to end a wonderful Cruise. I have been on the Jewel before and I will be on her in October. I always worry about being in a Country other than the USA. The Panama Canal is a great Cruise and what a bad way to end it! I hope you will try NCL again. I have never gotten sick on any of my NCL Cruises. Just Lucky I guess!

  6. I am also sailing on the Jewel out of Houston's Bayport. From what I have found out it is a half hour drive from Houston to Bayport. A lot of the Roll Call Cruisers on my Cruise October 18 are staying near the Port. I have cruised NCL quite a few times. I enjoy the Freestyle Dining with so many options of where to eat and you can pick your own Dining time. Dress is Dressy,Resort Casual down to Shorts and flipflop's. I am an early to board person even though I may not get aboard until later. Try to find your Roll Call and join the fun!

  7. I have been told that Moderno will be the Suites Breakfast and Lunch on the Jewel. This is something new. Before the Suites were always in Cagney's. I have not heard what the other NCL Ships are doing. When they moved Moderno to Deck 13 this may be one of the new changes.

  8. The Breakfast and Lunch on the Jewel in 2012 was in Cagney's. I wish I could find out if this is true because the Poster on the May 17 Roll Call posted this information and that their Roll Call was in Cagney's at 11 am. Perhaps they got it mixed up but we will find out when they get back. I will be on the Jewel in October and just want to know.
