  1. Thank you! That is the same thing the gal from NOLA Terminal stated. Hopefully they don't think we are trafficking kids, lord knows I certainly appreciate all the extra scrutiny they take with that, super important!!

Your welcome, have a great cruise. Keep in mind that your situation may seem odd to some but I can assure you it is not! The check in staff at the port see this stuff hundreds of times every day. If they were denying boarding, you would here the horror stories all of the time.

  2. This has been a hot topic for years. I can tell you from first hand experience that we have never been asked for a letter. We have cruised with my stepson for 10 years from several different ports and never been asked for it. We have cruised with 3 of his friends on multiple cruises, all minors, and never been asked for it. I will say we have always gotten it just to be safe, just never needed it. The document carnival issues says it is recommended. They would have a tough time denying you boarding on that statement and the fact that you will be bringing the documents you listed. You will not come into contact with any government official until you are in another country. We have been to Cozumel no fewer than 20 times and never had an issue. We also had a foreign exchange student from Finland go with us one year and had no issues.

  3. Thank you for your post. I've been on enough cruises I should be platinum somewhere, but I've spread it out through the years. RCCL, Carnival, NCL, and Celebrity.

There seems to be a lot of folks on CC lately who just wait for someone they jump on, rather than try to help.

Seasoned folks helping new folks was why cruise critic started, or at least why most of us come here. Just looking for advice.

I was just asking a question. You are the one who used the phrase entitled jerk, not sure what advise you expect when you use a comment like that.

  4. Thank you for the answer. I haven't been on Carnival in just over a year so I did not know they were doing it this way.

It's a great idea. I've seen so many entitled jerks go to their room before they should.

Just curious, how did you see them go to their cabin early, and how did you know they were not diamond or platinum?

  5. I agree, parking at the terminal is worth every penny. I can not comment on the off site lots because we have parked at the terminal several times and had it worked so well we would never need to try any other option. I have heard people complain about getting a shuttle at the off site places.

  6. I will be staying in a room with a friend. I have an on board credit applied to the room for carnival stock. We will each have our own expense account tied to our credit cards. I booked the cruise and paid with my card and he just paid me cash. Will the on board credit apply to my account, his or will they split it?

  7. On our next cruise, we will turn platinum on the last day of our cruise. Will we be considered platinum for this cruise or will it be the next?

This is an interesting question. Yes you turn the next level if you reach it during your trip, however, is the last day counted? If a 7 day cruise goes Saturday to Saturday, does the last Saturday count as a day as that would be 8 days? Anyone had that happen?

  8. I can't comment on this age group but my son was allowed to go to club O2 instead of circle c one year when he had a friend with him that age. He was only a couple months too young and he went to talk to the counselor and she allowed him in. At that younger age it could be an issue due to the supervision will have different needs for those groups. You will not know for sure until you are on board and you go to ask.

  9. We have cruised Carnival with my stepson, different last name, since he was 9. We always get a notarized letter from his father. We have never been asked for it. We have also cruised with some of his friends and never been asked for a letter for them either. We just typed a generic letter with the date and where we were going and had it signed. Someone will come on here and tell you it is required and they will even tell you they know someone or saw someone who was denied boarding without it. Maybe, I doubt it, we just got them because it was easy to do. If it were an issue to get I would go and not worry about it.

  10. Pretty much everything said here is correct. All standard balconies can be opened. The reason they can open us to allow the crew to open them to clean one long row. The cabins that have an internal connecting door can not open the balcony divider because it will block one of the doors going to the balcony. The reason is the internal door is on the side opposite the bed, therefore the balcony door is also on the side, the rooms are opposite of each other. When the divider on those rooms swing open they block off one door which is not allowed. The next set of rooms will have the divider open and block one window, which is ok.

  11. OK--we are on a very tight budget on this weeks cruise, and I can't remember if tips are charged per # of days, or nights??? We are sailing on a 5-day VALOR cruise, Oct 13-17. So--total tips per person will be________?

    Thanks!--CeleBrat

That would be considered a 4 day cruise, so 12.95 x 4, 51.80 per person.

  12. I agree that it was because Miracle was originally slated to go to China and then they changed the plan but I don't think it is a great loss to be on a ship without Guys!

I cannot see that those burgers are worth waiting on the lines I have seen on other ships!!

They are well worth waiting in line for, which by the way goes extremely quickly. I sure hope the Dream gets one added in February during dry dock!

  13. We have cruised over spring break for the past 8 years. We have never had an issue any more than any other time. There will be mostly elementary school age kids. The shorter cruises do attract more partying, but that is true year round. The kids will have a great time. The kids club is the reason we have cruised Carnival for the last 8 years.

  14. Ok, not that I need to explain, my wife and one of her girl friends and me and a guy friend are going on a cruise. Our friends are also just friends. Not dating! To not be awkward, she will be with her friend and me with mine. I simple was asking if since we booked 2 separate cabins could we get the credit for both. If not, no big deal! How cheers is involved in this I have no idea, none of us will be getting it! Thank you to those for answering my questions, for those of you trying to read between the lines, go find something else to occupy your time!

  15. The easiest way to get a benefit to disappear or be modified is to abuse it

Not really sure how this is abusing the benefit. I simply asked a question. If I book a cruise with a friend the first week of June and my wife books a cruise the second week of June we are both able to get credit. Not sure what the difference is if we both book the same cruise with our friends. Sorry for asking, I am not trying to abuse the system. Thanks for the replies!

  16. Thank you for the replies. I asked my PVP today and she told me to send one to her now and wait a month to send the other. I will do that, but I don't see why we should need to. Booking 2 rooms on the same cruise should be no different than booking 2 separate cruises and using it for both. I don't see anywhere in the rules that require 200 shares for anything.

  17. Stay on the ship, it will be the best time for the kids to enjoy the water slides while the majority of the people will be off the ship. The ship will be docked right next to the beach so you will be very close to the action with plenty of your own space plus your food will be paid for! That said, grand Turk is a nice beach day and there is plenty of chairs and room for all.
