  1. It seemed like the slots were paying out on our recent Adventure of the Seas cruise. Although this is based on what was "advertised" over the loudspeaker as I don't gamble - according to it there was a $30,000 winner and lots of winners of varying amounts under $10,000.

But we were on an excursion with someone that had won $7000 the night before so I know the slots at least paid that out.

  2. We did option 1 two weeks ago, except instead of St. Kitts we went to St. Croix (we didn't see much of the island but loved what we did see). We LOVED all of the islands but were exhausted by the sea day. Our favorite was St. Lucia, it was beautiful! I second the Calabaza Catamaran cruise for Barbados - it was fantastic!

We want to do option 2 the next time. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

  3. Just went last week. It was a nice beach (it's where all of the taxi drivers want to take you) but there was constantly people coming up to us trying to sell us stuff or ask for donations. It was $8 per person and our taxi driver that took us there was great about coming back to pick us up at a specified time.

Added bonus to the beach - the shells! They were down the beach where the people weren't but beautiful. Found some ones I had never seen before. I just stuck them in my bag when we boarded the ship and didn't encounter any issues.

  4. What other ports are you going to? I found some great sea glass on my recent cruise in St. Croix, St. Marteen and St Lucia.

Hello. I'm going to be in San Juan on August 2 with my 7 year old twins. I'm looking for some interested parties to join us in searching for seaglass at the beach across from the Capitol on Sunday, August 2. It is a short walk from the cruise terminal. Low tide looks to be around 4:00 p.m. so I was thinking we would try to go from 2-4 p.m. (but am flexible on time). Please let me know if you are interested as I don't want to go alone! It is a no cost activity and you could end up with free souvenirs!!
  5. And you can be picked as the newlywed couple for the game of Love and Marriage. But be careful if you are picked, the newlywed couple on our recent cruise revealed their strangest place to make whoopie was in the elevator on the ship. They were then know as the elevator couple for the rest of the trip and had everyone on the ship wondering how they got away with that.

  6. I must admit I fell into this last category that irks you on my cruise this past week. I was planning on going and even bought some school supplies for the lady that volunteered her time to take the supplies to the school. Unfortunately I did not see the "tent" invitation/information on the Meet and Mingle as it was sitting on the desk and not on the bed where I was expecting to see it, so I missed it.

The other thing that bothered me were the people who signed up for the meet and mingle and couldn't be bothered to show up. If you sign up you need to show up or the party could be taken away from us. Just some food for thought! I've now gotten this off my chest, feel free to comment if you want.
  7. One of our stops in July is St. Croix. Are there any items that St. Croix is known for that are great deals (particular jewelry or gemstones, liquor) or just unique to St. Croix? Or any stores that are a must visit when you go? Or tasty snacks unique to St. Croix? Thanks!

  8. One of our stops in July is Barbados. Are there any items that Antigua is known for that are great deals (particular jewelry or gemstones, liquor) or just unique to Barbados? Or any stores that are a must visit when you go? Or any tasty snacks unique to Barbados that you always get? Thanks!

  10. We get our ins through Costco. We've never had to use it for a medical emergency but my IPod was stollen sometime from when we left it with the porter and the time our bags were delivered to our room. The ins covered my IPod. Now we always get it.

  11. Great! Thank you for the information. Very Helpful! We won't have a rental car either so I guess we will be stuck at the hotel.

It depends on what kind of food/experience you are looking for. We didn't have a rental car so we just hung around the resort. We ate at the Pina Colada Club which is in the resort. If you like loud places, hard wood benches/tables, lousy service, expensive food, then this place is great.

The next day we just had Starbucks, again right on the property, and they have malorca sandwiches which were fabulous and prices were appropriate. There is a Subway close to the resort but based on TripAdvisor reviews, decided it was not very clean.

We love it at Caribe Hilton and will be going back next February. If you are looking for a place in Old San Juan, here is a real nice place w/ a great atmosphere with waaaay better prices than a lot of places:

This is easy to find on google maps, easy to walk to from the cruise pier & you can see their menu on line.

Hope you have as much fun as we did.

    :)
