  1. Hi Carolyn !   (  Host CJSKIDS )

I  chatted with you  and your husband on  the May 2019 Carib Princess Sail Away at the Outrigger. It was a wonderful cruise. I always enjoy my zumba and line dancing classes. My favorite band Static rocked the piazza every  night. I am looking forward to the   b2b Sky Inaugurals in the beginning of Dec. in the US. and hearing Static play on  that cruise.

Happy cruising  and I hope our paths cross again in the future !

I just disembarked the Coral last week from a southbound Alaska cruise June 18-26. I had packed exercise clothes to take part in the Zumba classes which have always been fun. There were no Zumba classes the whole week. With 3 sea days on a 7 day trip there was plenty of time for them. Is the Coral the only Princess ship where Zumba is gone or does this pertain to all Princess ships?

I have been on a lot of Princess cruises and I always have gone to the zumba classes. Regal Princess has had  2 different people who taught zumba and the classes were offered in the morning and late afternoon. Last month I was on the Carib Princess and they were having zumba classes.

I think you itinerary made the difference. Alaska not only has a lot of ports but you have two days going through glacier areas.Glacier Bay is an all day affair with naturalists and rangers aboard interacting with the cruisers and  explain everything we were seeing.

  4. I think some are reading more into the medallion wearing. I exercise daily at home and on cruises. I enjoy zumba, line dancing and other dance classes. I was thrilled to have the medallion on the lanyard. My exercise clothes do not have pockets so wearing the lanyard is easier. Some other cruisers bought colorful watch bands on Amazon prior to the cruise  and put the medallions in the special band.  I saw a gentleman with the medallion in a clip on to attach to his shirt. I never considered people were showing off but merely putting the medallion where they were most comfortable.

Well you won't have that problem with the Medallions since it's not printed on them.

Actually , my  ocean medallion on the lanyard I received 3 weeks ago on Carib Princess doesn't have the word elite on it but the medallion has the black background. All  the other levels also match your color to the medallion.

  6. I didn't do a back to back on Carib Princess I took 2 weeks ago. However, when I have done the b2b before you were able to go wherever you wanted to go.   However, on one b2b ( 200 people ) , we got screwed by one family. We waited over an hour for this family to show up. We heard their name called many times and they searched for them. When they finally were escorted to the waiting area they didn't seem to care about anybody else who was inconvenienced. Without  any communication from all of us, we stared at them and some clapped while staring at them. They could have cared less.

Now ,this is when I think the Ocean Medallion could track those people down immediately !

  7. When I travel solo and trade the mini bar for the coffee card I have always  received 2 cards because I  pay  double the fare.    Do they credit it on my account for 30 coffees  for the week ?  Also in December I will be on the Sky for the Dec. for the b2b Inaugurals. I was hoping to get the coffees on the first leg and use them on the second cruise also.

Although I was just on a Carib Princess , I kept the mini bar because I still had coffee cards to use.

Since most of you are on the carribean princess or just got off the ship I wanted to know if medallions are okay in carryon luggage on flights thanks

I didn't get my medallion until I got to the terminal desk. On my flights home I had the medallion in my purse and it wasn't a problem.

Today was a beautiful sea day.  Lots of sun.  I have to say the Market Place buffet for breakfast was very good. Lots of choices. We had delicious cheeseburgers at the Salty Dog for lunch, and the main dining room choices for dinner included a shrimp dish, Cornish hen, and beef tenderloins. Banana Foster for dessert.

I have to say we are overall, very happy with the CB.  She looks great and the staff is wonderful.  We haven’t sailed on her since 2005 so, I was a little concerned she would be “old.”  But she is not!  And she is a perfect size.

Thank you Buckeye Mark for lettting me add my two cents to your thread.

Go listen to the Static Band by the pool or at night in the piazza. They  are great. They were on a ship last year with me and very excited to have them again.

I was on the ship last week and it was wonderful.. I spoke to the band and happily found out they will be on the Sky Princess Inaugurals Dec. 4 and Dec 7th 2019 when I will be cruising out of Fort Lauderdale.

Enjoy your cruise adventures. Don't forget that the International cafe on deck 5 is open 24/7 and FREE.

  10. Hi Carolyn,

I just saw that you had posted here.  I was so glad to meet you and your husband on the Carib Princess last week !

I enjoyed the cruise and having great weather.  The band Static was awesome as usual. When I saw that they were on this ship it made my week. I had them on a different ship and it brings  people out dancing. They have great music for us baby boomers and the tons of young people.  I had chance to talk to  Nancy in the band and inquired  about their next contract. They will be on the Sky Princess for Dec.4. and Dec.7 2019 Inaugurals to the U.S. cruises. Love it since I will be on that cruise.   I hope they will have the new production  show  " Fantastic Journey "  on the Sky also.  I totally enjoyed that show.

I hope our paths will cross again in the future.

  11. I agree with Paul's comments. The Platinum/Elite lounge has a much better choice.  On the formal nights, I used to receive a form to select which canapés I wanted.I usually chose only two kinds and think they delivered 8 canapes  about the size of half dollars. I enjoyed them until a few years ago.  I was embarassed by what was delivered. They were the size of nickels ! I have never ordered them since !

well aware of the self-service, machines, tokens, irons and ironing boards ...

Going to spend a couple days pre-cruise, so 'may' want to send a few things when we first get on the ship

to use later during the cruise

I'm 'guessing' we just put them in some kind of bag left in the room - mark our 'ticket' , then give them to Stewart

I hope someone will post a printable pic of that ticket ...

Next - what actually happens in the laundry room? - I'm again guessing that our clothes are kept separate in some

kind of bag - then 'processed' with the other passengers ? - are the clothes kept 'in the bag' during the washing process ?

I also know that there is no more "dry" cleaning ... but some kind of other process - is that what we should choose for

shorts / shirts ? - I've read a few threads about the high temps used and the dreaded 'shrinkage'

never used that Princess service ... but since it's an included perk ...well

Anyway - thanks to all who respond

Although I am Elite, I don't send my clothes out to the laundry. I actually don't mind doing to the laundry in the laundromat.  Since I exercise each day, it is easier to do laundry then to drag more clothes with me.

Three weeks from tomorrow I will be flying down to Fort Lauderdale !

Just an FYI- but on a Medallion cruise (Caribbean Princess) if you swap out for 2 coffee cards, they go onto the medallion and expire at end of cruise, which isn't worth it, in my opinion for a 7 day cruise. No actual cards are available.

I will be on the b2b Sky Inaugurals in the beg of Dec. If I trade my mini bar, for the equivalent of 2 coffee cards can I use it for both weeks ?
