Do you know how much this tour is for two?

A lot depends on what your ship does. We were supposed to dock so I had planned to walk to a beach near the port and then after lunch shuttle into town. On day before we were told that we would be tendering instead. That puts you right into town. So we flipped our plans, spent the morning in town, grabbed a bite, (did not want to waste time tendering back and forth) and then took a city bus to a local beach. My advice is to plan for either possibility and go with the flow . Certainly time to do both a beach and town.
What bus depends on which beach you select.
Do you recommend a beach?

Would appreciate any advise on Mykonos - would like to see the windmills, Little Venice then spend time at beach. Is this all walkable from cruise port or will we need a city bus? If so what number etc... thanks.

Following also..looking for a nice beach, will be in San Juan on Harmony of the Seas on 2/14 from 7 AM - 2 PM!
Please report back what you found to do, we go in mid March.
Thanks.

Yes, interested in this info on where to be dropped off.

I will add to my post above - if you leave the port area have an idea ahead of time what you want and be street smart, this port is not as safe as it looks. We heard of a group left stranded at the waterfall and had to walk back to ship - not a short walk.

We were at this port on December 1. Peachypooh described the area near the gangway. We did walk to town. We went out the gate and walk through the residential area. It was a very poor area (sadly a large dead dog in middle of road that nobody cared about). There really wasn’t much to see in town except another market area where locals sold their crafts, vegetables etc.. Not seeing much to do we headed back towards ship when approached by a man that offered to take us to tour the city, waterfall, beach area etc... he offered to do this for 1/4 the rate taxis in the gate were offering. We went to a local church, graveyard (both worth seeing), open market where live chickens were being sold for dinner, a park near water edge to take pictures of ship, waterfall, and the beach (we did not stay at beach no one was there). He makes very little each day and works seven days a week, 11 hrs. a day to feed and clothe his family of 3 girls and wife. We tipped generously in hopes he would take Christmas off.
He is GeoTaxiGuatemala at hotmail dot com (Geovanny Chavez). Not knowing what to do before we sailed I was pleased to have a safe honest guide and one that provides WiFi in his taxi.

Looking at google maps it shows walking from Omni Riverfront Hotel to the cruiseport is only 8 minutes - but is it doable?

You should (hopefully) have plenty of time to make a 12-ish flight. Of course, that depends on the ship arriving at it's allocated time, NO problems with either ship (at sea or docking problems). But, if all goes as planned, you should have plenty of time. If, you think it's faster, you can also do an 'self-assist' luggage carry off. At least you're not trying to make a 9:00 a,m flight ! Those can be CLOSE ! Good luck, and have a FANTASTIC cruise !!
Mac.
Thank you.

Our flight time was just changed by airline. Will we have enough time to get off a NCL ship and to airport in time for a 12:25 p.m. Tuesday flight?
-
it's 20% of 119.00. He just e-mailed us back about our upcoming trip as we are looking to book as well. Can anyone comment on the waves and if anyone was sea sick?
Of course everyday will be different due to weather for how big the waves are. We did fly off our seats a few times when hitting some bigger waves (was all part of the fun). Nobody got sick on our boat.

I live in NOLA, I'm happy to email you a list of "not to miss" that I send to friends coming here for the first time. Plantations, swamp tours, French quarter, and D-Day museum are definitely top contenders.
Too many great restaurants to list! Happy to send you that email if you'd like.

I would love the list - if you don't mind. Dopey1123@hotmail.com
Thanks

I am finding the same in my research - but determined to find something to do. If anyone has had a good experience please share.

Thank you everyone for your info - I am happy to see there are options.

Here is a link to my photos from the day in this port. As you can see from the first few pictures, the dock area is an industrial facility. Not much going on at all. The excursion pictures are for the Quirigua location I mentioned earlier.

Thanks for the pics, not sure if that's the excursion we will take, but it does look interesting.

We are sailing on NCL Pearl in November and I have never had as much trouble finding information on a port as I am for Santo Tomas de Castilla. I have looked on ports threads, but there isn't much recent info. Does anyone have any recommendations for beach or water activities, or really any advise.
Thanks.

Now some may say I'm crazy for thinking like this but...
She was so excited to be coloring eggs. I was so excited that I was able to make this happen!
A few cracks later, but hey, she had managed to color Easter eggs on Easter.
This is so thoughtful and sweet and a wonderful memory made.

Finding all this information useful. We are on Pearl in November and it will be my 20th cruise but only second with NCL. Was so disappointed last NCL, but decided to try again - after reading all these postings on this thread - I am excited.

We did this excursion on March 30 (one of five excursion taken on our cruise) and had an absolute wonderful time. Jonathan our captain for the day delivered a most awesome experience with a friendly sense of humor and informative advice and information. I highly recommend this excursion if you are looking for a fun filled exciting day. We only saw Bob at the beginning when we checked in to pay and at lunch, but there was no worries, he was in charge and hires competent friendly staff.
I had a concern prior to booking and emailed Bob with it and he responded quickly clearing my concern.

This is a great list. I think I'll have to print out the thread and use it as a checklist. or put it into a spreadsheet :)
Ha! Good point! ;p
Please share your spread sheet - looking for new drinks to order besides my usual long islands. Thanks.

Looking at a 4 star hotel in French Quarter - Mississippi River area on Hotwire.
Does anyone know what hotel this would be? Rate is 125.00 per night. I am not familiar with New Orleans and need advise if this would be a good location.

My condolences to you and your husband. She did look from the pics you posted to be enjoying herself so at least she left this world happy. Hold on to those wonderful memories and take care.

I really enjoyed your postings and looked forward to them, thank you for taking the time to share your experiences. Safe travels home to you and your family.

Did anyone skip lunch and see other sites other than where he usually takes people? Not sure where to ask to go, but prefer not spending time eating.
