Carabill provided an excellent overview.  We always plan and using our credit card for most purchases and get a little foreign $$ for small street purchases, guide tips, etc.  And, you’ll find ATM’s all over most (if not all) ports you’ll visit if you need more cash.

BigGuy is right, this is what we have done in past

  2. Let's see, a paper card, no security mechanism, could be printed with just about any printer with the right card stock, then sold on ebay,

Would be easy enough to fake a few and make a few dollars.

NO FAKES THERE, but why are you so bitter?

  3. Keep in mind that most likely the person doing the counterfeiting would not be the person using the card. They would print and sell on ebay.

Same as with the counterfeiting of sports event tickets.

Never said there was counterfeiting, only that it would be quite simple.

I suspect the main reason for the change is do to accounting for the value of unused cards that have built up over the years, most of which would be as elite benefits.

MOST of people selling on Ebay are legit, have not heard of fakes there, I have ones for sale there also, don't need to scare people away from a great deal

  4. Or is there one? I've read some random comments on CC regarding the hassle of going through customs prior to boarding when embarking in Vancouver. What are the specific hassles? Approximately how long does it take to get from curbside to ship? We're planning an Alaska cruise for next summer and I'm trying to determine which ship based on port of embarkation.

    Thank you in advance.

Went through it this year, goes pretty fast, smooth, they are watching who goes into USA just like land crossings

  5. I just returned from the Regal Princess this past week and I used an older coffee card from a previous cruise with Regal and the ship's name (Regal) written on the back and the sailing number. One time it was turned over and my card was punched for a regular coffee as well as a specialty coffee. All the other times I used it, I was never charged (punched) for regular coffee but it was for the specialty coffees. It all depends on who is serving you. Sometimes they notice and sometimes don't.

You are right, depends on who is serving, don't forget ONLY ONE PUNCH FOR EACH DRINK, they are trying to get rid of old cards by punching more than one

  6. I recently used an old coffee card to get a large cappuccino to go, and they used 2 punches. Is that normal? thanks!

They CHEATED you out of a punch, don't be bullied by those bartenders, ASK if only ONE punch, say that is only ONE punch for ANYTHING

  7. Request for info....

I would imagine any outdoor Alaska excursion during a rainy day would be quite uncomfortable but I would like to get the perspective of someone who has actually experienced this...

    thanks JGB

There are things you can book when you get there and see what the weather will be. We have been on 20 Alaska cruises, done many things in ALL kinds of weather, be ready for anything but does nOT mean you have to pack big boots & heavy jackets. Bring a small day back pack for stripping down or adding layers, a hat is good as well as a poncho or rain jacket is best. Too much to tell in this short answer

  8. We are looking at a RCCL Caribbean cruise. Our previous cruises have all been Princess and Carnival. I'm finding the 'shopping' process on RCCL a little over-whelming though I'm sure it will all become clearer the more looking I do...

I'm looking at balconies and of course, the OV looks great...but significantly more $$$.

So.....In comparing the Central Park and Boardwalk balconies, what are the differences between them? It seems apparent that one is central part of the ship, the other is aft...but any other differences?? What about noise

Been on Oasis couple times, took Central Park both times, little less noise but you are directly across from otherside balconeys so you can't go out in your birthday suitlevel...privacy....and anything else I should know that I don't even know to ask about... ;)

The ship is nice, book your events-shows EARLY as they fill up. Lots of food, lunch in Main Dining room also has a SALAD BUFFET that you pick what you want in salad & they will mix it for you, nice touch there

  9. Can someone who is up to speed on this multi-thread challenge please help me.

    1) I have one leftover coffee card from our transatlantic last year. Are the remaining punches still valid?

    2) I have already purchased, via Cruise Personalizer, a coffee card for each of us to use on our upcoming Hawaiian cruise. Is it still valid for unlimited regular coffee on that sailing?

    3) Regarding card above (in question 2) am I correct in thinking this change simply means we must use our 15 specialty coffees each on the sailing for which the card is purchased?

    Thank you!

See if you can get a REFUND of cards you bought for upcoming cruise, you have not received them yet, should be nO problem getting credit

  10. unlike the elimination of gelato recently, the cancellation of existing coffee card punches will surely cause some commotion after next aug 31.

I would hate to be the supervisor on any ship trying to explain this to the angry crowd.

I'm looking forward to some exciting entertainment the first few days of a cruise next fall. :d

hope it turns out that way

  11. We just got back from a B2B in a suite and got 4 coffee cards after exchanging our mini-bar. I only used a portion of one card and have 3 blank cards left. We are sailing on other cruise lines through 2020. Will these cards be worthless and what can I do with them?

This is where Princess is WRONG, for you out there badmouthing coffee card holders, Princess is NOT telling people they will expire BEFORE they get them, once you get them TOOOOOO late, you are screwed & lost the money

  12. Can anyone tell me if they will still take this coffee card on cruises. Really don't want to buy another one for my upcoming Caribbean Princess cruise in July. Only 4 stamps on it

Sent from my LG-H873 using Forums mobile app

YES this one good till NEXT year

    Safe voyage

    I have lots of these

  13. Just book the glacier cruise yourself for $178.95 pp. direct with the company, Phillips Cruises. Why do you need to do this through Princess unless you are trying to use up OBC. Save yourself the $20 pp.

If you are AAA USE THAT DISCOUNT

  14. We just got back from our SECOND trip to Liverno port & Rome for a few days. I used Romeinlimo AGAIN as I did two years ago. Had groups which I found with my bookings and they as well as us found the tours & guides great. Yes we had a guide in the Vatican(this one was worth every penny as she knew the answers to every question as she was a walking history book), if you just want the Sisine Chapel and church you can skip the guide BUT you still as someone pointed out have to contend with the LONG lines to get in. I would recommend Romeinlimo to anyone who asks, Jany was great in getting the best for us. The other past trip we used them for Southern Italy ports, no change in my comments there.
